Comments about Fairydust Balls with Stakes, Set of 3:

I am an avid gardener and I was very disappointed when I received the Fairydust Balls. They have been in my garden for several weeks and I have yet to see the hint of a "glow". I certainly wasn't expecting them to light the pathway like solar lights would, but I have them place where they get plenty of direct sun, so there should be no excuse for them not to work. I have others that are several years old and they still glow. There really should be some sort of return policy for this type of product.

They glow dimly, true, but in my wooded and mostly wild yard it's just enough to make a person do a double take, add a little bit of magick, but nothing overpowering. i would not suggest this for someone who is looking for strong visual drama or high wattage... but they are nice when coming back in from the woods on a nighttime walk.

Comments about Fairydust Balls with Stakes, Set of 3:

Hoped to make use of these in large garden area. Area is full-sun and no trees to provide shade, so I thought this item would be perfect. However, as per your rep when I called about them, the illumination is very tricky and more than likely ceases to exist by the time it's dark outside. I brought one inside to a darkened room and it did illuminate, but the "special phosphorescent paint" is not strong enough to hold anything but a very weak luminescence. I'll probably have to resort to painting the glass globes to provide some accent to my garden.

Not tons of light, but just enought to set off my garden. I cannot wait until my plants are taller so that the lights are slightly hidden for a surprise effect. I shopped around and they were a good value for the set.

I did have to be careful to space them far enough apart that in a bad storm the didn't knock into one another and risk breaking.

Comments about Fairydust Balls with Stakes, Set of 3:

Received as a gift from my husband. With 8-10 hrs. of sun, both of us have yet to see them glow! The only way I can enjoy them is to place a solar spotlight on them which picks up the shape.
Don't waste your money. It was such a disappointment.

I am extremely disapointed in this product. Typically I LOVE everything I get from Gardener's Supply but this was a total waste of money. I set them up in a sunny area of my yard (at least six to eight hours or direct sun). I thought sure they would glow all night. They don't even glow for a few minutes.

The glass balls themselves are quite attractive, but do be cautious when driving them into the ground, they can easily bend at the joints if there is much resistance.
The "glow" is less than satisfying, but the overall look of the balls is quite attractive. You must be VERY close to see any phosphorescence and in complete darkness. Never the less, the trio is a very pretty cool, green.

Although these fairy balls are attactive during the day, at night (even after days of direct sun exposure) you can only see the "glow" if you put your face right next to them. I was under the assumption from your catalog copy that I could place them around the yard and see them from my porch. That is not the case and so I'm disappointed in this product.

We both have them in direct sun for most of the day, but they do not glow at night. If you hold them up to a light and then look at them in the dark, they do actually work, but just not when you put them into a natural outside setting. I'm very disappointed in these. I feel like I wasted my money. I would recommend you not waste your time or money on these.

Comments about Fairydust Balls with Stakes, Set of 3:

A very unfortunate thing in the written instructions that the buyer can't see until he's already paid for the balls and received them: while it's true that the balls gather energy during direct sunlight, the "fine print" is that they start to give off luminescence as soon as they are out of direct light. This means that their 6 hrs of glow time starts while it's still light outside, and with a long twilight period, the 6hrs is mostly over before it's really dark enough to see the "fairy dust." I get that this is all chemistry & physics...but it's still disappointing. Fortunately, the balls look great during the day, so they are still good garden decorations anyway. Just don't count on fairy dust at night.

I really wanted to love this- but I've settled for liking it a lot. The fairy dust balls look very nice in my garden during the day, but they are not distinguishable at night. The package insert does refer to the need for no competing lights, which I believe we eliminated. And the balls are in strong sunlight during the day. However, we have not found there to be a noticable glow at night. We are disappointed but not enough to return them. They are pretty in the day, and we have received some very nice compliments!

I live in California and you would think that there would be plenty of sun. I got them for Christmas and that is our rainy season so I thought that spring or summer would do it. When nothing continued to glow, I thought that they needed total darkness and that did not work. They look nice in the garden as crystal globes but not the very least glow happens. I received swirls with the gift and have not opened the package thinking that they are not going to work either. Maybe I'll geve it another go. I still have all the instructions and recommendations.

I have them in a raised bed. They do not show up very much after dark, even when there has been full sun all day. They look nice enough in the garden as an accent during the day that I keep them.

Comments about Fairydust Balls with Stakes, Set of 3:

I put these in my gardens along with the fairy dust hanging balls & spirals. I am not impressed with the fact that they really are not very luminescent. The only time I noticed that they were, was when I had them in the house and turned the lights off. But when they are outside, and it gets dark gradually, by the time its dark enough to see them they no longer glow.
