Raised Bed Rocks!
By Farmer MaxVerified Purchaser from East Texas on 7/2/2010
Pros:
Solid Construction, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Metal corners too sharp
Best Uses:
Good building foundation, Protect Garden
Describe Yourself:
Handyman
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

This frame is solid and assembles in 5 minutes with no problems. If you are going to use it with the mini-greenhouse, you will need to file the edges of the metal corner connectors smooth. This keeps the cover from tearing. A really good foundation for multiple garden projects. I use mine for starting seeds and then cover it with the greenhouse for a late vegtable garden.

OK
By wVerified Purchaser from maine on 5/22/2010

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

Assembly is pretty easy, you can have the frame finished and ready to use in 10 minutes or less.

The frame is OK, but you don't get much for the price. The best feature is the integrated coldframe with legs that fit into the holes in the corner pieces. If you don't need the coldframe you may want to do some more comparison shopping.

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

This is a nice bed. I bought it specifically for the cold frame attachment.

This year, I put a second smaller raised bed on top so I can grow larger vegetables. This is its second year in use and it looks a bit faded, but still very functional.

Sturdy and easy to assemble
By BruceVerified Purchaser from Litchfield Park, AZ on 12/7/2009
Pros:
Easy to assmeble, Extends Season, Keeps Animals In/Out, Solid Construction, Weather Resistant
Cons:
One hole not pre-drilled
Best Uses:
Protect Garden, Starting a fall garden
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

Easy to assemble. Cedar is a good choice for long lasting use and a barrier for insects. One hole on one of the corner pieces was not pre-drilled. Hard to get access for a portable drill to install screws. It was easier to install screws by hand.

Pros:
Attractive Design, Extends Season, Solid Construction
Cons:
Difficult to Set-Up
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

Has a solid design but would have been a whole heck of a lot easier to assemble if it had just had pilot holes!! If I had carpentry skills I wouldn't need a prefab kit! Hopefully my assembly mistakes won't jeopardize durability.

A bed for all seasons.
By Organic Mom and Nutrition TeacherVerified Purchaser from Richmond, Virginia on 5/28/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Extends Season, Keeps Animals In/Out, Solid Construction, Weather Resistant

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

This is my first year with a vegetable garden and these hardy cedar, raised beds looked like a great idea to me because I live in a city with rock hard, red clay soil. They are easy to make and I've stapled chicken wire to the bottom to keep out burrowing animals, doubled them, making them 14 inches high, to keep out family pets and sports-minded children, and filled them with many vegetable seedlings in "square foot gardening" style. Planting and weeding is as easy as sitting on the edge of the beds at this height. So far all is going well. With a few of the matching cold frames, I hope to be working right into winter.

Best Uses:
Excellent raised bed

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

We abandoned our garden bed after fourteen years and are switching to raised beds; I built two myself and bought this one from GS. It was straightforward (not easier) to put together, as sturdy, and with the cold frame/mini-green house on top makes me psyched to start my eggplant in April. I am very happy with it, although I'd recommend a different system than wood screws to attach the 2 x at the joints.

Happy so far
By LizzieVerified Purchaser from Nashville, TN on 10/14/2008
Pros:
Extends Season, Solid Construction, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Too wide
Describe Yourself:
Do-It-Yourself
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cedar Raised Bed:

I have enjoyed my raised cedar bed so far. I had difficulty locating cedar at lumber stores in the past, so I was happy to find this kit online. My seedlings are doing well and I intend to use the cold frame once the weather turns. My only complaint is that the width is too wide for smaller gardeners. A foot shorter in width and a foot longer in length would have been more ergonomical.
