Takes effort to get it set up right, but worth it since it does the job as described. I would recommend using heavy duty boots. I used an old pair of vasque sundowner leather hiking boots and it worked nicely. I was able to walk a good pace and even jog a couple of times.
Be sure to tighten the nuts very well. I did lose two.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
It would work if you can get it to stay on your shoe. I tried boots and tennis shoes and they come off after I take one or two steps. My husband tried them and he couldn't get them to stay on. We tried strapping them on several different ways.
They didn't come with instructions on how to strap them on or some helpful hints.

I feel like I just threw my money in the trash with these awful things
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
[...]I gave them to the man that does my lawn. They fit fine, and worked well. He punched holes in my lawn with the shoes and then he seeded it. Time will tell if the seeded worked, but I know the shoes did.

Come on, you guys, I expected better from Vermonters! What would be so big about including a little diagram showing how to fit the straps on these things so they work, for those of us that are strap-and-buckle deficient? After trying maybe a half-dozen combinations, I finally found what I THINK is the correct setup - and they STILL came loose and fell off after a few steps. And "Rob from Atlanta" told you a year ago that the heel lip needed to be higher... do you pay attention to this stuff?
Buyers, before you return these (or toss them in your recycling bin), do what I did: replace the supplied straps with leather boot laces, cross the rear ones around behind your ankle, Prince Valiant style, and tie them with a regular square-knot-with-a-bow (like you tie your shoes). Then they'll work a treat! (can't do it with loafers or bare feet, tho, they'll cut into your ankle and instep - I use my motorcycle boots)
I give them an "A" for concept, but a "D" for execution.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Do not waste your money on this item. Read the reviews. They will not stay on your feet.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
This is a great idea, they just didn't design it well. There's not enough of a vertical lip at the back of the heel to keep your shoe in the correct position, so after taking just a few steps, they fall off... the straps are not enough to keep your shoes positioned properly on the plastic platforms.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I am somewhat of a clutz so I started slowly by just using one shoe, it worked out fine. I then got up the courage to use both at once and made sure not to step on my own feet, I was good to go!
The yard look great, I used it for getting the lawn back in shape, 1st made the holes then sprinkled some grass seed, in a week the lawn was greener(a bit of rain) and I didn't have to worry about fetilizers that poison pets.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
The nails are sinking into the lawn, so I guess aeration is happening. If nothing else, my neighbors got a [...] laugh out of it as I made a grab for their escaped basset hound just as I stepped out in them for the first time! Go figure, on his timing. Hope I don't end up on YouTube for that one.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I love these! They were easy to assemble and worked great! Even in the hardest areas of the lawn. Just a quick walk around the yard and the ground is softer and much more easily accepts the water, rather than having continuing run off! Thank you for the wonderful product!! :)
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
When assembling these shoes, it was a bit of a pain. Getting the nails in were not a problem. It was the straps. I have average size shoes, not too big or small. The back strap did not fit around my shoe. When I called the customer support, I received probably the best customer service ever.
While I had to go out and buy another strap that was long enough for my feet, I didn't mind because the customer service had taken care of the extra cost.
Finally, after assembling the shoes I was able to use them and they take some getting used to! I found them to work well, but you just have to walk carefully. Don't expect to walk normal speeds in these. Take your time and they'll work great!
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
For [$] this is a bargain. Don't be a typical no patience person and take a little time and these sandals will really help your yard. Yes they are large, as they should be. Yes the straps are long, as they should be. They're not made for size 4 child shoes. They have long straps so that all users can wear them, tuck them in. If used correctly, step down, step straight up, you're fine. No you can't run in them or use them while you're mowing as there are 2 inch spikes in the ground when you try to turn your body. Sit on the edge of your yard, put them on and walk on the whole yard or just on trouble spots. Works just fine.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
These work good once you get them strapped on to where they stay. You have to be very careful that you don't walk normal or you will do a forward pitch to the ground. I have had several close up views of my lawn. Otherwise they work as well as I expected.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Great product. A little easier for my husband to use since he has larger feet and weighs more but I still use them.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I read the reviews about them falling off your feet, wore my rain boots and had no problem. I used them on my small yard and they worked very well although I looked perhaps a bit drunk learning to walk in them. Also, I hand tightened the washers? bolts? (I don't know the name for them) that hold the spikes on and before the next use, I will have to use pliers to tighten them.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I bought these as a birthday present for my mom (she specifically asked for them) and after she got them she said she couldn't use them because they were huge on her. She doesn't have really small feet or anything, these things are just mammoth.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
The sandals are fine, BUT--My balance as an older person(76) is poor. I put on only one sandal at a time, make sure my lawn is good and wet, and then use a garden tool (long-handled rake) to help me maintain my balance as I walk on the lawn to aerate it.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Great product, well made, will definetly do the job. Very difficult to attach to shoes. Must have patience.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Worked fairly well except they were a little large for my petite frame. Once my husband took over they worked fine for him. He is a men's shoesize nine where I am a women's 6 1/2
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
We have hard soil and are on the look-out for innovative ways to loosen it up (and allow our grass to grow). I thought these would be great to wear while doing yard work, as well as for intentional, thorough aeration.
They were easy to assemble, but tough to wear - although my husband had an easier time keeping them on his bigger feet, if you tighten the straps enough to keep them on your feet, they are very difficult to get off when you're done. They are also awkward to walk even a short distance in on hard surfaces - so don't leave a tool behind in the shed! You are not going to want to be taking these on and off.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
difficult to get one and keep on.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Product was bought to aerate the lawn.
It was not expense or bulky and it give an added benefit - exercise when used.
I knew they would be an asset for the lawn so I bought two pair 1 for myself and the other for my friend who was very happy to receive them.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
This product is so easy and light to use on shoes and walk.It has made my grass healthy, greener.I am so happy to have it in my garden shop
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
good exercise and helps my lawn
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
The spikes are ok, but the belts that hold the platform to the shoe, untie easily. I consider this is dangerous because you can break the platforms or bend one or several spikes or worst, twist your ankle.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Much more cost efficient to aerate your lawn on your own with this product than hiring someone to do it.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
The spikes in the sandals are longer than they need to be. I thought they would be about the length of spikes in track or golf shoes. Furthermore I think there is a good chance of twisting an ankle or even breaking a leg, if the spikes of one of the sandals should get caught in the ground. There was no way I could use them with my weak legs (I am 81), but even my handyman who is in his 40s was leery about putting them on.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Love the concept and was very excited to use these while mowing to address some of the soil compaction in our lawn, however we still haven't figured out how to securely fasten the straps. As soon as you take a few steps, the straps loosen and the Sandals fall off.
We will probably need to retrofit them, and they will work well enough.
For the extra effort though, it seems like it would be just as easy to build your own out of plywood and screws.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I was really excited to get the sandles, but they are way too big and my toe area keeps slipping out, no matter how tight I make the staps. It would be much better if they came in small and medium sizes.
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
difficulty understanding the proper use of the straps. Better quality than I expected

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
I loved the idea and purchased them with great hopes of aerating the hard soil in my yard .....and almost ended up in the hospital. The sandals came off immediately b/c they cannot tighten enough around my shoes. I wear a size 7 ladies shoe and these sandals are too huge for my feet. May I suggest a men's size and a ladies size. Men are not the only people that work in the yard. Thank you.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Such a great concept - aerate while you mow! But I can't keep these things strapped on. Have tried relocating the straps and buckle as much as possible, but the straps loosen up after about three steps and then the things flop off my feet. Also tried different shoes, etc. Nothing helps. Totally useless unless they stay on. Good thing they weren't too costly. Waste of $$$$$!
Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
This is a great product especially for small yards such as ours. It does take effort however depending on your soil makeup.

Comments about Lawn Aerator Sandals:
Strap the sandels over your shoes and walk. The product couldn't be any easier to use. Walking has never been so beneficial. It's good for me and good for my lawn! I get exercise and my lawn gets to breath. GREAT!!
