Any product is only as good as it's weakest part. The weakest part of this product is the backing. It is tissue-paper thin and tears easily. It has no more strength than the covering on the peat disks I use to start seeds. To be effective at preventing weed growth and adding to the strength of the shredded-rubber matting, it most definitely needs to be a much more robust material. This is not an inexpensive product. As such, I expected higher quality.

I have used the 5" version of this material for years. It is fairly easy to put down, and makes a nice border-for a while. However, it can sink into wet areas, and will conform to uneven surfaces. It will then pick up mud. It does not like weed/edge trimmers much, and over the years, weeds WILL move into the edging material itself. Fortunately it is fairly easy to kill it with round-up as necessary. So, I like this, but with reservations.

It was great to find the rubber mulch in the 12" width. I put down weed barrier fabric and then the rubber mulch which I hold in place with long garden staples. It looks great and is so much easier than mulch that you have to keep adding every year. Never messy. Wind does not blow around. It is great. Easy to walk on.

I like this except when you need to cut it, it is not that easy. I think this product is best served keeping it in one piece as an edge to a garden. I would recommend with reservations.

I was so disappointed in this product. I was hoping to use as a weed block at the top of the lower level of my rock wall, but after seeing the product, my weeds look better than this. In the catalog it looked somewhat natural. But in person, it's shiny and very fakey looking and doesn't belong in my beautiful garden. I'm returning this today.

Used to edge out around a gazebo so cutting the lawn was not so challenging. Works great for that purpose. The backing could be thicker to prevent grass growth underneath and to weigh the edge down with less stakes.

THis product quickly and easily installs to define a garden bed for ease in mowing and weed control. Grass and weeds are prevented from encroaching into the bed. Weeds do not penetrate this edging. It is unobtrusive alone and even more so if covered with mulch. Long lasting.

Too early to really comment, but so far so good. I have a ground level deck and the grass is always hard to get too from the deck borads that over hang. Sso I put the border around my deck. Now the grass doens't grow directly around the deck and I can cut the grass without fighting the deck. And it looks nice.

This product is awesome. Not only did it create a nice finish in my flower beds that border my driveway, but it makes cutting the grass so easy because it's a straight edge. Also, those pesky weeds can't get through...I love that. The only minus is that I wish I could have gotten a color swatch. I should have chosen the other option. A color in between would have been best for me, but that's OK, I'm still glad I have them. I'll order more next year before I put down the multch!!

For years I have been plagued with grass growing into my large vegetable garden (70' x 20')or by crops growing outside the garden into the grass. What a nightmare for mowing. I edged my vegetable garden with this product. Though using it for the first time still took a lot of digging and edging to get a good start, it was easy to lay down, and it looks GREAT. Mowing is easier, and the garden has a much nicer "finished" look. [...]

I had large beauty bark along my fencing, and my dogs thought that the bark was for them to chew on. This border stopped that and it looks almost as good as the bark.

I had large bark along my fencing for years, but my dogs thought that the bark was for them to eat. When I found this item I got rid of the bark and this is a much better solution. My dogs don't think so.

So far this appears to be working well. I put it down between my two raised vegetable beds to eliminate weeds and grass that grow in that area. It was easy to put down and looks to be holding the grass and weeds at bay.

Over the years, weeds begin to grow through the mat, and I have to spray it with round-up to keep the weeds from invading. In addition, it provides a great habitat for earwigs, under the mat, so you have to watch out for little night eaters! Looks good otherwise, and made a huge difference in the hundreds of feet of flower bed borders I have.

I have purchased this product several times and highly recommend. I use it along the side of my sidewalk to keep the grass back and I display my collection of Pudding Stones on top. Keeps the dirt off the rocks, can mow right over the edge, stops weeds/grass from growing in areas I don't want/can't mow. I leave it out year round and there is no signs of deterioration at all.

Had to shovel out yards of gravel around the garden boxes when we moved in...the paths were overgrown with weeds! This border will make a neat path, keep the weeds down, and needs no maintenance. I love it!

Bacause of the thickness of this edge border I am definite that no weeds will get through. The walnut color matches perfectly with the "deep forest brown" mulch we layered close by; it's hard to tell where the edge stops and the bark mulch begins. It gives the yard a manicured look.

Use this product at the border of flower beds. It works well, can be mowed over, doesn't blow away, long lasting. Doesn't work well, however, with curved borders.
