Very cute bird feeders. They instantly attracted finches & chickadees. The downside it that the mesh is slightly too big and allows for the seed to fall out easily.

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

These looked so cute in the catalog I ordered a set as gifts. Was disappointed when they arrived to see their size. A serious bird feeder with a busy backyard would need to fill these daily. The lid is not easy to attach so I'm planning to return them and order a different product.

Acorn Birdfeeder is Awful
By ChristineVerified Purchaser from Queens, NY on 1/15/2010

A pretty hook to hang on, Attractive, The design is attractive
Cons:
Difficult to open the top, Not Squirrel Proof, The food went through
Best Uses:
Winter
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I was very disappointed with this product. The food slipped through, so I ended up using suet. (I already have a suet holder). Also, it was very difficult to twist the top part on. The squirrels got it the same day that I put it up, and now I have nothing but a hook hanging on a tree branch. I would not buy or recommend this product again. If I could get my money back, I would appreciate it, as I don't have an acorn bird feeder any longer.

Beautiful but not sturdy

Pros:
Attractive, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
Not Squirrel Proof, Unstable
Best Uses:
Year Round
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I love the appearance of the acorn feeder. However, it comes apart too easily and I usually find the bottom portion on the ground with the seeds spilled all over. Currently the top just twists on, which is not sturdy enough to hold it together. Somehow the latch needs to be improved so that it won't come apart.

Wish These Worked

Pros:
Attractive
Cons:
Difficult to assemble, Difficult to fill, Unstable
Best Uses:
Year Round
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I thought I would love these, but they just don't work as anything other than art. The lids are poorly designed, so it is nearly impossible to attach them, and since the feeders hang from the lid piece, I spent all my time picking the feeder part off the ground - and wasting birdseed. The holes in the mesh are also quite large - you need corn/sunflower seed mix since everything else will fall right through. I gave up on trying to use these and just wired them shut to use as ornaments.

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I bought this as a gift and the recipient seemed quite pleased with it. I wish it was larger in size because I imagine it will have to be constantly refilled. There was more green patina on it than those in the website photos. I wasn't so pleased with that. Oak and acorn themed items are always a big hit with my family.

It's very pretty and well-made, but the lid doesn't stay on. My husband bent the edge a bit and that helps. I considered sending it back, but couldn't find the return form, and the repair seems to have done the trick.

Using judgement on placement, a winner

Cons:
Easily hacked by racoons
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I was selective about where to hang it because I realized it would attract squirrels and might be knocked down. It worked very well on a hook by the garage, where I could see it easily, and attracted nuthatches, chickadees and the titmouse family as well as woodpeckers. Usually they get pushed aside by the larger birds. However I think a racoon detached it and ran off with the bottom.Which I found nearby. So I bring it in at night. The [...] advised the peanuts which work well.

It would be a perfect gift for a gardener who loves "art" in the garden, and any one who is a bird watcher. I love it. It is tooo cute!i definitely would buy this as a gift.

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

Pros:
Attractive and cute
Cons:
Top won't stay on, Very Small
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I like the feeder and the hanger and it looks great with my decor but it is not practical. It's supposed to be filled with sunflower seeds but they all fall thru the mesh. I thought it was larger but is my own fault, though, for not reading the fine print. The top won't stay on but I think I might fix that with a little wire. I think this is adorable and the materials are good quality with a nice patina but feeder needs to be redesigned and manufactured in larger sizes.

Needs to be fixed by you before I would recommend this product.

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I love the acorn shape. I was immediately attracted to the durability and aesthetic value of this feeder. However, I was shortsighted in reviewing the actual size of this item. It is almost too small to be functional. It is NOT squirrel-proof and requires constant refilling. Overall, it gets the job done for a short time but I wouldn't recommend this as your only feeder. As expected, it is only compatible with black oiler sunflower seeds or larger feeds. The wild bird mix slips right through the holes.

Pros:
Good Value
Best Uses:
Fill it with peanuts and, Sunflower seeds
Bottom Line:

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I really love the look of this feeder. As other's have written though, the lid does not stay on well, especially in windy conditions and necessitated my husband outfitting it with a set screw. I would hope that this will be addressed by the manufacturers. Other than that the birds are getting "the hang of it."

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

My backyard birds found this feeder immediately and one or more of them is nearly always there for a bite, so it's a great success. Also, its rustic look blends well with my garden. The only problem is that, for me, it is a little hard to get the top back on securely. But I love it anyway and would probably buy another.

Great looking birdfeeder
By PRVerified Purchaser from Middletown, RI on 11/6/2008
Pros:
Durable
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

This little bird feeder is great. The bluejays, chickadees, finches all love to hang off it and eat. The problem with this product is for the cost and the amount of birds you get - it is really too small. I hang mine from a bird feeder pole and looks tiny sitting out there. A grouping is nice, but would be better if for the same cost the acorn feeder is bigger.

Cons:

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

I love the look - it's unique! However, when the cover comes off, the entire bottom section falls to the graound and empties - somehow make the cover screw on better!

Unique
By Backyard watcherVerified Purchaser from North Dakota on 11/4/2008

Comments about Acorn Birdfeeder:

Ordered 2. One was VERY difficult to get the bottom off and the other was so loose that the bottom would fall off when larger birds sat on it. Needed to make some adjustments.
