Comments about Cattail Feeder:

This feeder is very attractive and looks good in a garden area. Birds are attracted to it and can easily feed off the seeds. It is very difficult to fill- top of cattail has a metal piece across the top and seeds spill to the ground no matter how careful you try to be.

I have purchased for myself, received as a gift and given as a gift. It is a great gift for that hard to shop for person or any garden or bird lover. I love to have 3 at a time because they add a nice touch to my yard even when there is no seed in them. However when they are full the variety of birds attracted is wonderful.

I add red or yellow plastic gems to mine rather than bird seed. Use it as attractive deocr to my garden area year round. The red helps to attract hummingbirds; makes garden area pretty even with snow on the ground.

CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS FEEDER!!!!
By JBVerified Reviewer from Ortonville, MI on 11/14/2010
Pros:
Attractive, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Year Round
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cattail Feeder:

We have given this feeder every chance in our climate (mid-Michigan). We've gone through 4 of them now and they all did the same thing. The lower cup is brazed or welded to the "stem" of the cattail. There is no way for moisture to escape and therefore the seeds in the lower cup become soggy and retain moisture, which is held against the weld at the bottom of the cup. The cup and the weld rust out and the cattail head falls off. VERY POOR DESIGN IN MY MIND. I could never recommend this feeder unless you like to replace them frequently.

Chickadee Magnet
By MorningmomVerified Purchaser from Chestertown MD on 7/1/2010
Pros:
Attractive, Attracts The Right Animals, Easy To Clean, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
Flimsy, Not Squirrel Proof, Too short
Best Uses:
Year Round
Describe Yourself:
Budget Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cattail Feeder:

Absolutely adorable addition to my garden, and the chickadees flock to it. For those who complain that birdseed spills out of the wire mesh: read the label! It says SUNFLOWER SEED. For those who think birds can't figure out how to use it because there's no perch: it's made for clinging birds! Pros: cute as can be, great garden ornament, clinging type sunflower seed eaters love it. Cons: needs to be driven into soft soil, seed capacity is only a cup or two, not super easy to fill (although I use a cut off milk jug for a funnel and that helps.) The only real drawback is that it is so short that the birds become targets for cats. This is a great gift idea and I intend to purchase several for Christmas presents this year.

Cute product, but has design flaws
By Indiana GardenerVerified Reviewer from Indiana on 4/28/2010
Pros:
Attractive, Easy To Set Up
Cons:
HARD TO FILL, No perch for birds
Best Uses:
Year Round
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cattail Feeder:

This bird feeder is very cute. I put it in my flower bed as a decoration and it is very attractive there. I had to fill it with sunflower seeds because the other seed types were too small for the holes. Unfortunately, I can't get any birds to eat out of it. They don't seem to understand how to get the food out, possibly because there is no perch for them to rest on. I think the idea must be for them to perch themselves on the wire mesh holes, but they don't seem to be able to figure that out.

As a decorative item, I think the birdfeeder is a great product. As a birdfeeder, I don't think I will get much use out of it.

I also agree with the earlier comments that the feeder is very hard to fill with seed. I spilled more on the ground that I actually got inside the feeder.

Cons:
Not the best quality

Comments about Cattail Feeder:

Although I bought more of these, they are not the best quality and not easy to fill with bird seed. The top unscrews, but there is a bar that obstructs seeds from being filled easily. I would buy this again because they are an attractive addition to my "yard art" and bird feeders.

Pros:
Attractive
Cons:
Not Squirrel Proof
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Cattail Feeder:

Very nice to look at as a garden decoration. A little annoying to place seed into it. It is a perfect squirrel feeder. they are able to latch onto the grid with all their feet and have a feast. Birds can not get near them. If you like them as a decoration, go for it. If you want to feed the birds, steer clear.
