Located in: Yard & Landscaping, Backyard Birding, Birdfeeders
When we first saw this elegant feeder, we thought it was an antique lantern, converted to hold birdseed. In fact, it's a very practical design; rustproof, easy-to-fill, and vented to prevent moisture build-up and keep seeds fresh. It's beautifully detailed, too, with a handsome pewter finish, curved glass panes and a gleaming copper finial.

  • Crafted of solid brass with a pewter finish, copper finial and elegant bowed glass panes
  • Vented to keep seeds fresh
  • Easy to fill
  • Comes with a hanging chain

Loved the design. Squirrel chewed seed area opening that was copper. So that area should be redesigned with a more durable material.

The bird feed spills out the sides. Most of the bird feed ends up on the ground.

    Comments about Lantern Bird Feeder:

The feeder is beautiful and stylish but the birds won't go near it. It's been up for 2 weeks next to a very busy feeder and no takers. The "perching" area around the feeder may be too narrow and too slick. I filled it with finch food but the finches continue to use the mixed seed station.

    Comments about Lantern Bird Feeder:

I use this product hanging in my yard. Birds love it. So do squirrels. One day I noticed a squirrel INSIDE the feeder. It had moved the lid up the hanging chain. I tightened the chain and that worked. Then the squirrels ATE THROUGH the medal pieces where the feeding tubes are. No way to fix that problem.

    Comments about Lantern Bird Feeder:

We hung this feeder in a cedar tree at the back of my daughter's lawn. There has been a steady stream of redbirds, finches, mockingbirds, sparrows,(even crows) using it since day one. Most of the birds alternate it with a nearby bird bath. The feeder is both practical and very beautiful. Everyone loves it!

    Comments about Lantern Bird Feeder:

I would not recommend this product. Our squirrels chewed off the crosspieces and left rough and sharp dangerous pieces of metal sticking out which could have hurt them or the birds. This product needs to be redesigned to be more durable.
