With a base of sustainably-harvested Canadian peat moss, perlite and limestone fortified with beneficial mycorrhizae and sea-based compost, this lightweight container mix promotes vigorous plant growth and good aeration at the roots. Its coarse, airy texture acts like a wick, carrying water from the planter’s reservoir to the root system. The result is more vigorous root growth, better aeration and less waterlogging. It's also an ideal mix for standard pots and planters.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

If you have never been to Tucson in the summer, go get a magnifying glass and direct the sun at your arm, now your there.

I have been using the self watering mix for years and have picked 100's of pounds of delicious tomatoes, peppers and eggplant grown in containers despite 110 degree summers. Now I have upgraded to the organic mix and already have both peppers and tomatoes set, we have been picking radishes for weeks, and have a beautiful collection of carrots, beets and spinach all growing in this mix.

Out of the bag it is easy enough to work with that my 3 year old can help mix in some home made worm compost and organic fertilizer, then help scoop it into the containers.

Best soil for upside-down planters because it is friable, not heavy, doesn't hold water so plants don't rot. My tomatoes are all so lush and big that I had to tie the stems to the frame of the planter so they wouldn't break from the weight of the foliage and tomatoes.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

I use this mix in self-watering containers to grow micro-greens. Water is added to the container only once a week, and the soil stays moist, not wet, all the time. Conventional soil mixes didn't work nearly as well as this one.
The plants grow strong and healthy in both directions - up and down. The self-watering container design coupled with the right soil mix, reduces maintainance and overall water consumption. Thanks to the right ingredients, my family can enjoy fresh micro-greens any day.

I used this product with the up-side down tomato. I was very worried that the bag holding the plant would be too heavy for me to hang. Not only is it light weight but it also is easy to work with. I had no problem getting the tomato in the holder and getting the plant hung all by myself. It makes those of us who are older gardners successful.

A very nice soil mix. Last year I used it for the Revolution Tomato planter, a hanging self-watering pot/basket and a self-watering window box. Everything grew well.
The only issue was that moss & mold grew on the surface, didn't cause any harm, just looked less attractive. Probably because I live in a high humidity climate.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

The organic mix is entirely different from the non-organic mix. Non-organic mix right out of the bag is dry and dusty, then holds water well. Organic mix is already soft and fluffy, full of peat moss, and it is heavier to lift than the non-organic mix. Both mixes are excellent for seed starting, but seeds like the organic mix more. I used the non-organic mix in several various types of self-watering containers and last year had a bountiful crop of salad greens and carrots, grown indoors under T5 and T8 lights. Expect to use the organic mix extensively this year. So far the seeds are spouting abundantly and growing with enthusiasm.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

This year I tried Hanging Tomatoes to avoid the fungus my tomatoes got through the garden soil. I bought the self-watering planter from Garden's Supply and LOVE it. I used some of this mix and some regular planting soil bought locally. (b/c I didn't buy enough mix initially), but then added more of this mix as needed. It is GREAT! And my tomatoes are the BEST EVER! Next year, I will use ONLY this mix in my planters! It holds the water much better for the plants.

Although this product is designed for self-watering containers, I use it in other containers, too, with great results. All of my gardening is container based on my deck because the "critters" eat everything at ground level, so I use a lot of this mix. It's great.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

My revolution planter tomato plants are thriving in a very wet and cloudy June. I see lots of gardens with very sad looking tomato plants this year...stunted growth and lots of leaf spot. My tomatoes in the raised bed being grown with tomato ladders are doing pretty darn well but they are plagued with black spot and leaf damage. The revolution planters with self-watering container mix are outdoing every other option I have seen. This is a great year to experiment with this new soil and planter!

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

This mix is not lightweight. It is very heavy, be prepared. Used alone it seems compacted and hardens easily. I mixed it with their regular self watering container mix, coir fiber, and extra perlite which seems to help. So far my plants like that mixture and are doing well. I like that it is organic and has compost mixed in.

We received a second water gauge to insert in the plant and it not only does not change color but is not even as good as the first one that I got with the kit, which didn't work well at all but had some color to it. It seems the only way to gauge the water level is with my plant measuring gauge. That (so far) is the only disappointment with the kit. Please try and correct the instrument as it is an integral part of the growing of the tomatoes.

This is the first year I've used this. I know good soil when I see it. It mixed well and holds water well. Plants started growing again within 24 hours of transplant so I believe that at the very least it helps reduce transplant shock.

Comments about All-Organic Self-Watering Container Mix:

Altho more expensive than what I can get at the local superstores, this mix is worth its price. It is so lightweight, making it ideal for self-watering (or any) containers. It drains well and I especially like that it's organic. Plants love this stuff and I will need to order more soon for this spring/summer. Thank you Gardeners Supply!
