Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought two 3x6 and two 3x3 beds to set up my first raised bed garden. I don't think black plastic is the most attractive option, but I like that they will last and won't be subject to rot or termites. Because we have lots of gophers around, I drilled holes around the bottom edges and used plastic ties to attach 1/2" hardware cloth to the bottoms. I found the beds fairly easy to assemble, though, as others have pointed out, the 3x6's require some drilling. The beds bow out a bit when filled, but not enough to concern me. The corner covers are a bit tricky, and one broke when I tried to attach it.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I use one 6x3 bed for vegetables and one 3x3 bed for blueberries. Can amend soil in one box for a variety. For both boxes together it took 27 bags of 1 cubic soil. How nice though to not hit rock when planting, to work with good soil, to place the beds for ideal growing conditions, under the roof eaves which protects them from hail damage. And best of all, it puts the fun back in gardening, saves time and a lot of work for those who are too busy or the elderly, people who love gardening and miss home grown food but for whatever reason can't or don't have a big garden. I am very pleased.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought grow beds this year to begin a small square foot garden. I've been very pleased with them! They weren't too hard to put together. I do suggest that you have someone help you put them together and lay the pieces flat when you begin to assemble it.

Once assembled, you may think the grow beds are flimsy, but once you fill them with soil, they work beautifully. My garden looks fantastic and best of all, the grow beds have been able to withstand the blistering heat in my area.

I would certainly purchase these again!

Nice grow beds

Bottom Line:

Very nice grow beds. I have four of these now, and they are about the least expensive and quickest option. The only tricky part of the assembly is drilling the holes to connect the halves. It would be nice if they were pre-drilled.

3 X 6 requires assembly
By MKVerified Reviewer from Portland, Maine on 6/21/2010
Pros:
Holding Capacity, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Difficult To Assemble
Best Uses:
Outdoor Plants
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener

Comments about Grow Beds:

The 3 x 6 bed is a 3 x 3 bed with 2 extenders. So you have to connect 2 3' pieces by drilling holes and bolting a connector panel into place to get the 6' sides. I am taking a break from doing this, because my drill was not charged and drilling through this plastic stuff is not easy. Once I get the sides assembled, I think the remainder of set-up will be easy, because the corners slip into place with rods through them and then snap-on (I hope) corners. I wish they'd designed it with rods and snap-on pieces for the sides, too. Or even better, designed 6' sides.

This product requires you to remove your lawn as it does not include a liner of any kind. It is extremely flimsy and required the purchase of additional materials to provide support to maintain its shape. Overall, a huge disappointment and I wouldn't recommend this product.

Great Size-Not Easy to Assemble
By LolaVerified Purchaser from Buffalo, NY on 6/18/2010
Pros:
Attractive Design, Drains Well, Holding Capacity, Weather Resistant
Cons:
Breaks easily in Moving, Difficult To Assemble
Best Uses:
Foot Square Gardening, Outdoor Plants
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

I'm sure the 3 foot by 3 foot works best. The 6 foot by 3 foot is MUCH harder to assemble-requires drilling holes and clamping and elevation on saw horses and a support-too hard to assemble in place and the ends then break easily when moved. If the side pieces of the 6 foot by 3 foot were easier to assemble and take apart, then it would be much better.

This product appealed to me because I wanted a well-organized way to grow a small garden for my family. We have a small yard and the 3x6 raised bed is a good size to grow the vegetables we think we'll enjoy, as well as sample a bit of gardening before we become more enthusiastic.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I can't say much more about the product because it does exactly what I needed it for. It protects my house from water getting to it so I can grow part shade and part sun garden plants. Such as lettuce, brussel sprouts, some herbs and swiss chard, spinach and parsley. In Orland, California we have very hot summers and the NORTH WIND BLOWS something terrible. I needed something to protect my plants as well as my house while growing them and these grow beds are just the ticket. Thank you. Best Wishes Always Lynn Millar-Head

Comments about Grow Beds:

We needed a raised bed with our heavy clay soil. This product was easy to set up and easy to fill with soil. The only problem I had was moving the
assembled 3 X 6 bed to a different location. It seemed a little flimsy, but it did not break or bend. I was easily able to put it back together. We are very happy and realize we need another!

Comments about Grow Beds:

I have several of these including the 3x6 foot version which I don't recommend at all since the sides bend easily with the weight of the dirt or potting soil within. Utilitarian but not pretty though the price is pretty reasonable. I have very rocky soil so I use these and containers to grow things.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I gave it 4 stars because I believe it's too expensive for what it is: four large pieces of plastic. I checked "difficult to assemble" because the corner pegs came pre-installed, making it impossible to assemble unless I banged out the pegs with a hammer. I had to wait several days to get ahold of an "expert advisor" at Gardener's to get permission to do this. I didn't want to be held responsible in case I broke anything by hammering. (As it turned out, the pegs came out easily.)

My yard has only 2-4 inches of soil over solid rock so I bought two of these raised garden beds to try to grow a wider variety of vegetables. They went together in seconds, look great, and now have healthy crops of carrots, onions, lettuce and cucumbers growing in them. I got a tall insect cover for one and a low cover for the other, and they slip on easily. I highly recommend these products!

Comments about Grow Beds:

I love this product, and am using it as an herb garden and also for lettuce. I bought the net cover that fits over the box, and wish that it was a bit more sturdy, as in keeping out pesky intruders. I had a rabbit that chewed holes in the sides to get at the goodies inside, and eventually taped the sides with duct tape, consequently I have now ordered a new net. I would like the net to be more substantial on the sides, more pest proof! Otherwise anyone that sees it in my garden loves it!

I have horrible clay soil, so using a raised bed to grow vegetables is the only solution. This bed was pretty easy to assemble, except I would recommend pre-drilled holes where you add extensions. I like that it's tough material that can stand up to the weather. The sides do bow out slightly from the weight of the soil, but not so much as to affect the efficiency of the product. Overall, I would buy this again.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I have two 3'x3' beds like this one and I love them. Everything grows really well in them -- so far I grew kale, lettuce, peas, beans, and garlic with excellent results. So I decided to get an additional, larger bed. What was not clear from the description in the catalog, that this bed comes with an extension kit, and to assemble it I needed an electrical drill. This was not specified in the catalog, and I don't have a drill and have no need to buy it. So I assembled the bed the best I could without extension panels and using two wooden poles in place of two missing plastic pegs. It worked, although I had to prop up longer side panels in the middle so they wouldn't bulge out.

We purchased five grow beds to start a community garden in our townhouse association. The board was willing to approve space because the beds were so attractive. Easy assembly got us off to a great start. I'm so glad we decided to go with grow beds.

Comments about Grow Beds:

Just bought these this season, so I'd have to get back to you all next year for a better review. So far, for the price, this is good stuff. Be careful when you're filing it though because my 3x9 setup bowed a bit in the center and messed up my eye lines and with all those cubic yards in there - there's no fixing that bow easily. Nice and deep enough, you can make them to fit most any space and grow, grow, grow!

Comments about Grow Beds:

I started out with one of these, along with a low 3x3 pop net, and just loved it. It looks great, it's just the right height, and the cover fits perfectly. Got nothing from compliments from my friends. I liked them so much I bought 4 more for my 'potager' garden.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought the 3X6 bed. I was disappointed that assembly requires me to drill into the middle connections to secure two 3X3 beds together. I expected to be able to assemble without doing that. I wish you would refine the design so that it doesn't require extra tools to assemble.

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

I am a lifelong gardener and decided to go to grow beds this year because I thought that they would be easier to weed. I like the height of the box and they were easy to assemble, but I was expecting a thicker plastic...something more like a board than a sheet. Once filled with dirt, the sides bowed out. The end cap that covers the corner has already popped off a couple of times. I would probably go with the galvanized or solid wood beds if I were doing it again.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought the Square Foot Gardening book and was so excited I couldn't wait. I live in a condo now and there is very limited space, let alone a space that has both sunshine and dirt.
The reviews on here were convincing; I liked the material, and the price affordable. I liked that the material is somewhat flexible as the area is at a bit of an angle, so it allowed me to 'shape' it just a little whereas a wooden one would not.
It was easy to put together but I do agree that it sometimes pooches out a bit or the corners come away some, but I'm so excited and determined that I don't really care much.
I used wooden dowels held together by wire that I wrapped around and laid it on top for my 'grid'. It will suffice.
Already little greenies are poking through the soil so we'll see what happens!

I have it filled with lettuce, spinach, radishes and onions. Doing well so far. Seeds actually germinated in 5 days (that was probably the soil and the gardener!)

Comments about Grow Beds:

So excited about finally having a real vegetable garden. Our soil is TERRIBLE, so my gardening friends told me raised beds were the way to go. I bought 2 of the 3x6 grow beds and actually linked them together in an L shape. (An extra metal bar connector would have come in handy, but we just drove in a few stakes on the outside to provide some extra support.) There is nothing stunningly attractive about the look of the black sides, but neither is it an eyesore. Once the plants have filled in, it should look great. I think the beds are a great value for the price.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I've had these for at least 5 years. They're still standing in the same great shape as originally installed. I use them for my vegetable garden. I have, all together, 4 raised beds (1-3x6; 2-3x3; 1-18"x36") made from this product. If you are a DIY homeowner, then it doesn't get any easier than this! Take it from a single, senior, homeowner... I live in a suburban neighborhood with feral cat colonies and growing vegetables was a challenge trying to prevent them from digging and destroying the crops. Doing this and covering them with 2 sheets of fabric mulch keeps them out of the patches and keeps my veggies clean, roots hydrated and soil warm. People are amazed at how much I grow. I raise eggplants, 3 kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, salad & beet greens and, of course, basil.

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Grow Beds:

This small 3' x 3' garden bed is the basis for my current vegetable garden, with six beds -- two 18' long, three 15' long, and one 12' long. Four of these are double deep too. These garden beds just need some side support -- 3' metal stakes outside each joint and (for double deep beds) a stake in between the joints to give more side support. Additionally, I add some metal flashing inside each joint and inside each corner to minimize soil leakage. This makes a very viable rasied bed garden on more than a mini-scale. Having purchased 33 of the beds so far, I anticipate doing more when I make all beds double deep. Yes, it's a lot of work at first, and the sides do bend a little, but it sure makes great capacity and much less bending down over the double deep raised beds.

I have looked all over, including the FarmTek catalog (nursery/greenhouse edition) and have never been able to find a similar product. If you want to go raised bed, this is the way to do it. Inexpensive, does not rot out like wood, good size, good height, easy to move if you want to re-arrange your raised bed configuration, warms up in spring .... just a great, easy way to create raised beds. I will say the 3' x 6' seems a little flimsy, but some 3' x 3' boxes of mine are now on probably their 5th year, and seem to be doing great. I buy a couple each year, I think I have about 9 now and I love them.

First time home vegetable gardner. My daughter and I put the bed together and added soil and plants and seeds. Everything is doing great! If we get the vegetables we are hoping for this year, I will purchase another bed next year. Did have one snag in the directions, but figured it out. The covers go on the corners BEFORE the pegs go in.

unexpected drilling needed to assemble
By Dee DeeVerified Reviewer from Olympia WA on 4/24/2010
Cons:
Difficult To Assemble
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener

Comments about Grow Beds:

The grow bed seems to be very sound. I have no doubt that it will drain well and help provide a healthy growing environment for my plants. However, nothing in the description prepared me for the fact that the 6x3 bed is simply two 3x3 beds fastened together by with screws and nuts. The fact that the sides required holes to be drilled was not mentioned. At this point I am undecided as to whether or not I would recommend this product to a friend.

Comments about Grow Beds:

Seeds are already coming up in my new raised beds, which are so easy to work in. I had no trouble setting them up by myself. I thought black plastic might be slightly tacky, but no. I actually like the efficient look of them. The sides bow just slightly with the weight of the soil. Setting the panels in the ground a couple inches before filling gives support to prevent any more bowing than that.

I purchased the grow bed because I didn't want to do any digging and I am glad I made this decision. It was easy to assemble and it fits perfectly. I filled it with mulch, hummus, manure and soil. I planted oregano, tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce, basil, green beans, carrots, corn and onions. The hardest part was carrying the bags of soil and mulch. I haven't had any problems with my grow bed, it's great.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I just finished putting this together, and it couldn't have been easier. The most difficult part was drilling the holes for the extension plates. This is some heavy plastic. But overall, it was a breeze. Can't wait to get started. For those who are concerned about removing the sod before filling, this really isn't necessary unless you are adding plants that root very deep. My solution will be to use black planters from my local garden center that I have cut the bottoms from to set on top of the soil, which will add another 8-12 inches to the growing depth. Hope this helps.

I love my new small 3x3 raised bed! I recently moved from the country to a small house in town and last year grew a couple tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets. No more! I had the spot all cleared and as soon as my bed arrived, I easily put it together and filled it with a mix of soil and manure. Right now I have only herbs growing, but there's plenty of space for tomatoes and peppers which should be ready to add next month. It's just the right size for a small yard or limited space anywhere.

I have five of these beds and just ordered some more. I live in the mountains of Arizona and we have no soil, just rock. These are great. I'm small so could set them up by myself. I've moved them around from year to year. I've grown huge tomatoes and even larger cosmos in them. They do get a bit hot in our Arizona summers, so I've come up with a method for keeping them cooler - just set them next to one another and put a board on the outside allowing a chimney effect. The trick is to put really good soil in them. The more amendment the better - and plant close to keep the soil cool and moist.

Comments about Grow Beds:

The only thing I would change about the grow beds is the depth of planting soil. We used to use 1"x12" timbers for grow beds 35 years ago when the Mittleider Method and Square Foot Gardening came along. I still think the extra 2 inches of soil gives way more to the plants than not, especially if you have difficult soil beneath. All in all, I would use grow beds over in-ground anytime.

Easy, fast, simple!
By Karla the Veggie LoverVerified Purchaser from Denver, Colorado on 3/5/2010
Pros:

Cons:
Flimsy, Not sure if it will last
Best Uses:
Outdoor Plants, Perennial Flower Beds, Vegetable gardening
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

This is one of the simplest ways I have found to add perennial beds, strawberries, and veggies to my unused spaces and on areas of my lawn that the grass never thrived. I just laid down good quality landscapers paper, assembled the grow bed, and filled with good quality garden soil, hummus, compost and it was ready for planting! Wonderful! I am wondering how it will hold up to my harsh Colorado winters, as it seems a little flimsy, but this growing season is I am looking forward to a bountiful harvest - so long as the hail, winds and other weather conditions cooperate! Really, these little beds are super easy to assemble, work just about anywhere & look great - the hardest work is carting the soil in to fill them! I find them very useful.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I originally bought 2 of these to use on top of a concrete patio for urban gardening. I just lined with landscape fabric to keep the soil from washing away. I could grow so much in a little space. I recently moved, and I now have a yard, but the beds came with! They have held up so well, I have had them for 6 years now with no cracking even after moving.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I started out with 3 of these last year. They worked very well for me that I bought 2 more this year.
I have arthritis and has had 2 total knee replacements, so it is hard for me to bend down too much. The raised bed help me fulfill my passion for gardening without hurting too much.
I do not have a big yard, so the mini gardens are just right for me.

Comments about Grow Beds:

We have an enclosed kitchen garden with raised beds in which we practice square foot gardening. When we wanted to add beds this year, we decided to try this product instead of building our own. The cost was not much more than the cost of the wood for building the original beds and these went together in a fraction of the time. We used steel rebar to hold the pieces together and anchor them to the ground, rather than using the short plastic pins that come with the kit. They aren't very attractive and I wouldn't use them for landscaping, but they're just fine for the garden. They have a tendency to bow when filled with dirt, especially if they're larger than 3x3. Grew cabbage and broccoli in them in the fall and have shallots, garlic and overwintering onions doing well in them now.

Comments about Grow Beds:

This grow bed looks great! I am using it to grow veggies this summer and it will be nice to not have to worry about any soil issues in my yard. I can just put the type of soil I want in it and go. Also because it's bottom-less I can plant things in it that will need to grow deeper roots and not worry about them growing into the bottom.

I picked this product because compared to other raised bed kits, it seemed a good value for the money. Reading some of the other reviews here I was worried that it would be a little to flimsy but now that I've got it assembled and filled with soil, it does not seem flimsy to me. The sides are not rock-solid rigid plastic, but it certainly seems strong enough to me. And worst case, I might need to put a stake or 2 in the ground for extra support, but I don't think even that will be necessary. It was simple to assemble, I had it put together and filled with soil an hour or 2[...]

Comments about Grow Beds:

I have several of the 3x6 beds, and two of the 4x8 beds. I use them in a fenced-in garden bed area that had become overgrown. Before trying these beds, any newer plants added to the space were usually overtaken or lost. This way, I can add new plants to the beds, and retain some of the older, established plantings as well. The beds were also relatively easy to put together, especially compared to making beds out of wood, which I have done in the past.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I assembled these in my back yard and right away one of the corners broke. The corner slots where the pins insert are very weak and snap easily. Once they snap, there is nothing you can do to repair them. I'm still using mine but several of the corners are bulging and fall open very easily. Big disappointment. If anyone has suggestions on how to fortify the broken corners, that would be great!

Comments about Grow Beds:

I used this product to add a second tier to my 4x8 foot raised bed. I placed the 3x3 foot bed in the center and filled it with good soil. I will use this new center bed for irises and other perennials that require more quickly drained soil. The grow bed is easy to move and it also can be adjusted to create a diamond shape rather than a square. The bed is new so I don't know how it will weather and hold up in Zone 6.

These are just great - I have 6 of them and just got two more. Soil stays nice and loose, doesn't compact so it's easy to plant in spring and weeds pull up so easy! Buy several and line them up or scatter around your garden. You can use these for perennials, too; plants winter over just fine in them.

A cure for soggy soil!
By CynthiaVerified Purchaser from Allen County, Indiana on 8/5/2009
Pros:
Drains Well, Weather Resistant
Best Uses:
Growing Seeds, Outdoor Plants
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

We bought two 3x6 because our garden had become impossibly soggy, possibly because of a new pond next door. Filled them with a mixture of peat moss, topsoil, and composted cow manure plus a little leftover play sand. The tomato plants and snap peas took right off, as did the green beans. So we bought two more 3x6 to install this fall. My husband says they are "moderately easy" to install.

Pros:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought 2 of the 3x3's and 1 of the 3x6. So far, I am thrilled as this was the MOST ECONOMICAL way to expand my vegetable garden. I had considered building from wood but when I saw the price of these, I was sold. There's no way I could have built for less. I am a bit concerned how they will "Winter-Over" in New England but it's worth the gamble. And many of my neighbors have commented on how nice they look so that's a bonus too!

Comments about Grow Beds:

This year I didn't get around to planting a garden, but by June I knew I couldn't totally be without one. So I ordered a 3x6 grow bed and picked up a few vegetable plants at my neighborhood nursery. By the end of July I'm already harvesting loads of cucumbers, tomatoes and a few peppers. I've made pesto from the basil and used the parsley for my meals. There are also watermelons, cabbages and a few marigolds all growing like crazy in the same little grow bed. It was super easy to set up, I just put it on top of my existing lawn, filled it with well rotted horse manure to the top and planted. The only draw back I can see is that it needs a lot of water, but then I've never had plants grow quite so exuberantly before. The extra watering required is well worth it.

Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Grow Beds:

These beds were easy for adults to assemble, but they are flimsy and the corners have covers that don't stay on. The sides bow out from the pressure of the dirt. We pounded in wooden stakes along the sides for support. I have 9 of them in our school garden. I also have 3 of the flagstone design raised beds that I ordered from you. They are terrific! Our 3 and 4 year old preschoolers were able to put them together and they are strong enough for the preschoolers to walk on top of them as a balance beam enclosing beautiful flowers and vegetables.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I set up a 3x3 grow bed about a month ago and used it for a small vegetable garden. My seeds have sprouted well and are thriving. We've had nearly 100% humidity for the whole month, plus lots of rain and the grow bed is standing up like a champ. I've had no problems with drainage what so ever. Also, I'm using the net over the grow bed and it's been successful at keeping out the rabbit that likes to eat the nearby grass.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I like the fact that these beds are made from recycled materials. They are easy to assemble, but be careful when putting on the corner guards.
They are brittle, and will crack if forced. The corner pieces are just to hide the assembly pins, and do not affect the functionality of the bed itself. I will be setting up my beds this weekend for planting my favorite vegetables, and fruits. These will definitely help with the weed control, because they are up off the ground.

Comments about Grow Beds:

The 3x3 Grow Bed is a great way to get started with gardening! Although I had grown tomatoes before, this is my first venture into growing other fruits and vegetables. I live in the Southwestern desert (Arizona), and the grow bed gives me the opportunity to garden with good soil. Otherwise, a garden would not be possible, since our property sits on caliche. Water is also important here in the desert, and the grow bed does a nice job of retaining the moisture. I planted my garden about a month ago, and it's doing quite well. The only "con" I noticed is that the grow bed bowed a bit once I added the soil, but that might have been because my dog got it in and dug a hole! Just trying to help plant, I guess.

Comments about Grow Beds:

Three summers ago I bought two 3 x 3 grow beds and they are still in good condition. There are now six in the side yard with a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers. I just installed two in the front yard with one citrus tree in each. I also have some of the half size grow beds which I plan to put in the upper yard.
I appreciate the fact that they are made of recycled plastic. They are very tidy and easy to maintain
Their only drawback is that they are not as attractive as the more expensive raised beds. However, this is a problem only in the front yard and I am planting lavender, sage and other low maintenance plants around them so they won't be visable from the street.

However, we were able to do a great mixture of compost and planting soil so it is the best soil in my whole garden.

These beds are economical, easy to assemble, hold a ton of plantings and look great in my yard. Many of me neighbors have commented on their attractiveness and I have given several recommendations for this product. Finally, I think they are great for beginning gardeners as even the 3x3 gives you great volume yet is manageable.

Comments about Grow Beds:

The 3x3 grow-bed is very attractive, and my garden is flourishing. I was surprised and pleased that this product is made in England; I've seen these on British garden Websites. It was easy to put together, as well. I plan to purchase more for next spring--or perhaps for some winter gardening here in NC.

Comments about Grow Beds:

This larger bed has all the plusses of the smaller 3x3 beds: attractive and sturdy. My plants are doing beautifully. My only quibble is that when I started to put it together, I realized that I would need a drill; I'm not sure if the catalog description specified that. I had to scrounge up my ancient drill, and I could not find the correctly-sized bit for it. I did get it put together, but it took me a while by myself. However, I am pleased with the finished product. I believe in the future that I will order several 3x3 beds instead of the 3x6 bed.

The soil here in South Texas is very thin and poor (alkaline), so a raised bed was the best option for my vegetable and herb garden. I would happily convert at least half my backyard into productive space, using grow beds.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I started out out with 2 of the 3x3 beds and have added 2 more. I've grown tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, broccoli, lettuce, carrots and several culinary herbs year-round. All have out-performed anything I've ever planted in-ground. The growing seasons are even slightly longer as the earth warms up earlier and stays warm longer in my zone 5 garden. My oldest bed frame is 4 years old and looks exactly like the one placed this spring so they are very durable. Love the fact they're made from recycled plastic. Very easy to keep weeded too!

Comments about Grow Beds:

I bought two of the 3x6 boxes to begin vegetable gardening. Important to note that I live in the country surrounded by aggressive deer, rabbits, gophers, squirrels, etc. that target everything I plant. I stapled deer fencing to the bottom of the boxes to discourage those that burrow and my husband engineered frames (pretty awesome) that dome each box which I have covered with netting. If this works, it will allow me to finally grow vegetables again without having to install an electric fence around a garden.

Boxes assembled easily. At first I was disappointed that the frame was not a solid board, but when filled with soil, each appears very sturdy. This is the first year, so I have no experience with how the frames will weather the winter outside. If they do well...I may add more boxes next year.

Comments about Grow Beds:

This is the first time I have tried raised beds and am I ever glad I chose these grow beds! I completed the entire project myself. The beds fit together perfectly and finish nicely with the snap-on corner posts. The beds look attractive and once they were filled with soil (the hardest part) they were exactly what I was looking for...I used 1 foot square grids to grow 3 tomatoes, cucmbers, winter squash, carrots, spinach, peas, green beans, beets and green peppers. I used your Garden Planner and everything I planted is growing. I purchased 3 3x3 beds and 2 3x6 beds. I would recommend these beds to anyone interested in growing their own vegetables. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so bending down to weed is difficult. However, with the Grow Beds, there are no weeds and I can garden sitting on a stool. What a joy to be able to grow my own vegetables again!! Thank you!

Bottom Line:

Comments about Grow Beds:

In our small space we created a maze-like veggie/herb garden that's easy to maintain, thanks to the various sizes offered. While I love the easy assembly, I must say that the snap-on corner covers have a tendency to pop off. Also, the sides of the 3 by 6 bed tend to bow out unless reinforced with small stakes outside. Other than that, a great product for the lazy beginner gardener!

Comments about Grow Beds:

We needed a new bed for tomato and pepper rotation. The double grow bed was the right size at a reasonable price. It was a little more difficult to put together than I expected but still okay. It seems sturdy enough to meet our needs. The main downside is that it's ugly looking. It would be better if it were a dark green color rather than black.

Comments about Grow Beds:

Easy to position wherever it gets enough sun and it looks nice enough to have in the front lawn (as I do). Sides bow out slightly but that doesn't seem to cause any problems. I will probably order more next year since my front lawn is the only place on our farm that gets enough sun and adding more beds is so much easier than digging up the grass. Cutting down lots of trees for more sunlight elsewhere is not an option.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I moved to a place where I didn't have room enough for a big garden like I used to have. I just had to have a few fresh vegetables, so I bought one of these raised beds. I am tickled pink that I have a tomato, a squash, a cucumber and green beens all growing in towers and looking good! The only thing I see is that they do bulge on the sides and the corner pieces keep coming off.

Comments about Grow Beds:

I like these beds, especially for the price. I bought two 2 3x3 beds with 2 extension kits. The metal rod that goes in the middle of the now 3x6 beds really helps to prevent bowing in the middle of the bed. The only caution is if you use the extension kit, make sure to have a drill bit that works well on plastic, you have to drill through two pieces of the sides to install the bolts that hold it together. Also, if you are using the extension kit, it is best to have 2 people to assemble the beds, I had a lot of difficulty doing it myself until I enlisted some help to hold the bed up and in the right position while I guided the metal rods into place from underneath it.

Comments about Grow Beds:

Boxes 1-5 were purchased about 5+ years ago. They are still going strong. They are great for warming the soil fall, winter, spring but don't seem to overheat in the summer. I grow greens all winter in Colorado in these boxes with a self made heavy ml plastic cover (of course in the deep of winter greens stall in growth but with a little warming, they are ready to eat). New boxes 6 & 7 went in a new section. The cost may seem like a lot at first but they do seem to last!
