Comments about Self-Watering Tray:

...the tray is full of water. We've had so much rain this spring that it is hard to tell how well this will keep the plants moist in the harsh summer heat. I will add more at the end of the summer when I'll know more. For now, I like it.

Pros:
Drains Well, Holding Capacity, Stainfree under container
Cons:
One size doesn't fit all
Describe Yourself:

Comments about Self-Watering Tray:

I bought 2 to use with my salad growbags because last year the bags left big stains on my patio. When I received them I started to set everything up only to find that my growbags hung over the ends by more than an inch on both ends. I sent them back since they didn't meet the purpose I bought them for.

These are great. I don't have to water my plants as much as I used to-these saved my tomatoes during some extreme heat this summer. After days of rain, they started to grow a fungus though.

No valve
Best Uses:

Comments about Self-Watering Tray:

I bought this for my strawberry plants where I place two pepper grow bags on top. I've bought some liquid nutrients to add to the reservoir. I like the idea of bottom watering to avoid over and under watering, as well as, the compression of the growing medium; but I don't feel the roots get enough oxygen or a dry period. I'd like to see the tray be a little higher and have a notch for a valve to force a dry period and the ability to attach to a bigger reservoir where an air-stone could be placed.

Comments about Self-Watering Tray:

It works fine! When I first ordered the self-watering plant trays for some lettuce grow bags, I had doubts about how this system would work. Now I understand that it uses straps that act as wicks to draw water up from the water in the tray to the bottom of the grow bags. A great functional design that works.

I used this product with salad greens. It maintains even moisture but I find that I still have to water it frequently when it is sunny and dry. Nonetheless, it reduces watering when compared with no watering tray and it makes growing a bit easier.

Cons:
Needs level location
Best Uses:
Outdoor Plants
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Self-Watering Tray:

I bought 2 Pepper bags this spring and was wondering how I was going to stay on top of watering all summer long which is my biggest garden challenge. So I bought 2 of these self watering trays for the bags and so far they appear to be working well. (we have already hit 80+ here so self watering is already pretty critical. The only negative is that my location is not level which is fine for the bags but not for the trays. It limits the amount of water they could hold so I had to use some rocks to shim them up and I am afraid they may crack faster because of the extra stress that is putting on them.
