For years now, gardeners in England have made the most of very limited garden space by growing vegetables, greens and herbs in plastic bags placed on steps, patios and landings. We’ve made improvements and achieved terrific results — and you will, too! First, our Pepper Grow Bags are made of patented, double-layer polypropylene instead of sheet plastic. This felt-like fabric breaths better, so your plants won’t suffer from heat build-up, overwatering, or poor aeration. Plus, our fabric air prunes plant roots, resulting in a strong, healthy root system. We’ve developed a Grow Bag for many popular crops — shallow for salads, deep for tomatoes, peppers and potatoes. That means less planting mix to buy and better results.

seems worthwhile for growing veggies on patio - first time user - very easy to plant and set up, no holes to drill. just make sure to fill evenly, so bag stand straight. much easier than setting up plastic or ceramic planters.

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

I live in an area that suffers from extreme heat, high humidity and torrential rains from severe thunderstorms. As a result, my neighbors who planted tomatoes in their conventional gardens have no tomatoes. I have beautiful pest and rot free tomatoes. My garden bag and tray sit on a shelf to assure my dogs leave my tomatoes alone as well. This was my first summer using the garden bag system and I am the envy of my neighbors. I will definitely use the bag system next year.

I love the idea of these pots which go which work well with the capillary mats. I've bough several and placed all my plants in them. I wish they came in more sizes for my wild strawberries. I end up putting two plants per container.

Great for small places, i.e. decks and patios. Even with a late planting, I've got some pretty good peppers coming along. No bugs or critters are snacking on them. Highly recommended.

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

Although I live on hundreds of acres of land, I have chosen to have a container garden right outside my kitchen door. I started with plastic pots, but find I am even more successful with items such as the pepper bag. I have identical pepper plants side by side, one in the grow bag and one in a plastic pot. The pepper in the grow bag is easily twice the size with greener leaves and more abundant peppers. I started with the potatoe bags and have had such success, I am now up to 4 of those with other bags for broccolli, beans, and strawberries. I don't find them the most attractive, but I put them in a row behind containers of flowers and it looks great.
We have had a rainy, but hot season so far, and the bags help with drainage, but also keep the roots from getting too hot.
I consider them rather inexpensive, but also very durable.

Good, but could be a bit better
By BJVerified Purchaser from Castle Rock, CO on 7/1/2010

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

I do like these, but would like them more if they were a tad deeper. I do like the fact that cages are available for these. We have high winds which damage plants, and the cages allow me to grow veg on my patio without damage.

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

I have the trough selfwatering planters and I found that they fit great inside a square one and that three fit well in the rectangle size. In the fall I can lift them out and it should make removing dirt easier. I intend to order more so I have them to line the ones I already had dirt in. I did put soil behind and around them so the bags would stay moist.

If you have cherry tomatoes or like to plant anything else this would be great for people with limited space (i.e., apartments, little/no yard). I bought 2 this year and will buy more next year. I planted bell peppers and chili peppers in my bags. Perfect size for planting your veggies.

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

Growing peppers is difficult in the Northwest because it doesn't get hot enough. One year I used a wine barrel, half filled with soil, and they did terrific because the soil stayed warm. I am so glad you have this product, because the black will keep the soil nice and warm, and I can keep the peppers anywhere.

Comments about Pepper Grow Bags:

I have not used these yet but I am sure they work as well as the potato bags. I have been growing peppers in my flower garden and I would like to move them outside of that area. This was a good alternative.
