Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

What a pleasant surprise. I wanted planters for my small deck to grow summer herbs to keep them handy when cooking. I found that I was too lazy to go outside to pick the herbs in the garden, or I simply forgot them. I don't have room for alot of table or floor pots, so an over-the-rail solution was a must. I did alot of research prior to purchasing. Even contacted GS to ask where the drainage holes are (on the bottom of the side 'saddles').
I only use ceramic planters inside and outside the house, no plastic, so I was a bit nervous that these would look cheap or cheesy.
I love these planters! They stay on my deck railing and they really look good. They hold alot of soil and plants (I have the 36" ones). Alot. I live in the Northwest, so our summers are short. My annual herbs and flowers won't have a long time to grow, so they won't outgrow these containers, but I can see how plants in longer growing season locales can get crowded. The part of the planter that is directly above the upper railing cover is a bit shallow. but the side saddle areas are plenty deep.
I would definitely recommend these to anyone - even people who think plastic containers look cheap. These are very attractive, and the Mocha color that I purchased is very good-looking.

I have not been disappointed in purchasing these. I live in a condominium with minimal plant space so these allow me to have the annual color I crave and the ability to decorate my upstairs deck. I too was concerned about the price but have purchased additional items since my initial purchase. I love these!

It is so much fun to see flowers at eye level now with these wonderfully fitting boxes on my deck. Always had to go to ground level to admire my flowers and plants, now all I do is look out my back door and I have all the colors and glory that I need all summer long. Thanx for a great product.

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

I am very satisfied with the use and appearance of the sadle groove containers over my deck rail. What I haven't yet accomplished is getting the plastic labels off. The paper part came off fine but the plastic part is still there and will only come off in tiny pieces. Has anyone found a method that works?

After trying to use hang-on brackets on our deck rails, these are a snap to use.
I bought 2- 30inch and 3- 24 inch in bronze.
The planters fit perfectly and look almost custom made because the bronze color is a perfect match to our gutters.
I did drill some extra holes in them for better drainage.
They are filled with portulaca on the sunny side of the deck and torenia on the shady side.

I bought 2 as a birthday present last year for my mother-in-law. They held impatiens & ivy all summer and pansies all winter. Now they contain petunias, verbena and ivy. She loves them! They are so easy to remove and plant, replace and care for. They're good-looking, too! It's a wonderful design.

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

We have a raised deck off our MBR that is very close to our neighbor's view. I wanted to find something that would increase our feeling of privacy...

I ordered 2 bronze deck planters and planted them with white Cosmos, white petunias, and white bacopa. They filled in/out/and/up quickly and are beautiful!

They are light and easy to lift-and-turn. I rotate them, and switch positions, in order to keep them full and showy.

They do require frequent watering, and dead-heading, but it doesn't take much time and is totally worth the beauty and privacy.

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

I just ordered 4 of these railing planters in white. They came quickly & I have been so pleased with them. I planted petunia's in them right b4 Memorial Day. I was watering them every day until I came home last night and discovered two of them missing off the porch. Evidently, that's how much others admired them too! Some one obviously stole two of them. FYI, make sure you use twine or a little nail thru one of the watering holes so you won't have this happen to yours. They looked great out on my porch railing too! The two that are left hopefully will remain there for good. So please, please make sure you either use twine to wrap the planter underneath good to the railing OR use a little nail or something first if you have this type of crime happening in your neighborhood. I never thought in a million years that I'd have to do this. Unfortunately I know now & it's too late. Please think this way first for your own sake with these fantastic planters as they truly are worth it!

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

I have been searching for years for planters for my small deck. If I put pots on the ground, there is no room for me on the deck, but if I put a standard hanging basket or window box on the railing, they crash to the ground the first time a heavy thunderstorm blows through. These planters stay put, even when the wind comes in 30 mile per hour gusts. They are big enough to hold plenty of plants and they don't take up space.

I use these planters on my deck and used to be able to buy at local gardening center; but can't find them anymore. I found them on internet last year but didn't get my order in until this year and saw that the price went from around [$] per container to about [$]. That is about a 40% increase year to year. I will start looking now for my next replacement and hopefully will find them cheaper somewhere else.

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

These are attractive planters and I like the color (bronze) and I like that no brackets or tools are needed. I haven't used them yet (it's mid-April, too early here in northeastern CT), but I did try them on my deck railing when I received them to make sure they fit. I had measured my deck railings, which are old and probably aren't completely straight anymore, but they were pretty consistently 5.5 inches wide--and these planters don't fit well over them in some places. The bottom of the planter doesn't rest on the railing completely, so I'm a little concerned it will fall off. Price seems high.

Comments about 30" Railing Planters:

I purchased this railing planter in the 2x4 and 2x6 sizes and they are just what I wanted. I wanted a railing planter that didn't hang on the side of the railing and these are perfect in every way. Since I just received mine, I really can't predict how they will handle our intense high desert sun, but the plastic is very sturdy and should hold up. I have decorative plants in some of mine, but am using several of them to grow spinach. I would definitely buy this product again!
