Bought this for my front porch. I've only had it a month, so don't know everything about it yet. It's easy to assemble, easy to fill the water meter tube, and I love that it's on wheels. I move the planter nearer the house during high winds, and it moves very easily. I think it's a great product and would recommend it to anyone. Great value for the price!

Comments about Self-Watering Rolling Planters, 15":

The problem with these planters is that you have to use a hammer to bang out the plugs at bottom so they can drain - the plugs should be separate units so they can easily be dislodged - instead they are part of the plastic that the planters are made of so hitting them repeatedly and with enough power behind the hammer in fact broke 2 of the 4 plugs in each planter, resulting in a cracked floor of each planter. By this time I had to try taping the broken plastic floor as my hydrangers had been sitting in the pots they came in for more than a week - so I kept the planters instead of returning them. Of course the tape did not work so every time I now water them (the old fashioned way, from the top with a watering can since the self-watering part cannot work with the broken floor) the excess water runs out all over my terrace from the cracked bottom. Please rethink how you have these made! The plugs need to be a separate unit, not part of the plastic mold used to make the planters. The idea of having to bang them out with a hammer does not make a lot of sense!!!

Love how the filler/indicator has been redesigned. It works so much better. Maybe a color other than Terra Cotta would look better but that isn't what I chose this product for. There are very attractive alternatives available that I will use for that purpose.

Comments about Self-Watering Rolling Planters, 15":

These planters are not that good looking. I was expecting better. They seem to be well made though. The one bag of container mix that is provided is not enough to fill planter. The caster wheels are small diameter, but I don't have any problem rolling them around on the paver patio bricks. The best part of these is the self watering feature which has a large reservoir.

Comments about Self-Watering Rolling Planters, 15":

Good for growing small shrubs or large perennials or a nice mix of annuals and perennials. Nothing with too much depth or large root systems with much weight. Casters are the weak spot---very flimsy and easy to break, especially on concrete or stone surfaces outdoors. Would be better with a bit thicker walls, too. Use them gently and don't move them around much after planting and they should make out OK. Clean design as to appearance. READ instructions and inventory the parts before you assemble.

The planter was very easy to assemble (with my husband's help) and just the right size for the annuals I want to "spruce up" our front porch. I especially like the idea of wheels -- too much sun or not enough sun. Perfect. I just need the weather to cooperate. We saw snow this morning!! What an April Fool's joke.

So far these have worked out great. I purchased two and have inserted metal obelisks for climbing beans and cucumbers. Everything looks great so far. [...] I placed them in my driveway in a sunny spot close to a water spigot. I bought a short 25 foot hose to fill the reservoir since carring containers of water is no fun.

Comments about Self-Watering Rolling Planters, 15":

I don't find these flimsy, as some reviewers did. The secret to opening the drain holes without damage is to use multiple LIGHT taps. I used a very light tack hammer and hit each plug 5-15 times. We will use these on our deck, where we have had round Gardener's self-watering pots for a few years. These hold more soil, more water, and the water tube placement is better - takes up less of the available space. The casters are an improvement over placing a heavy pot on a rolling holder - much less prone to tipping over. (We move our plants from sun to shade a lot.)

I have only had this planter a month, so cannot comment on durability, so far so good. I found it to be easy to assemble - did not have the problems others did with knocking out the plugs or with the water level indicator. I have planted a tomato in it, it is a good size for one tomato plant and the square, folding, tomato cages just fit. I like that the wheels allows me to rotate or move the plant. Bigger wheels might be nice, but these roll ok even on rough aggregate sidewalk.

I wanted flowers near the house, but there's only concrete where I wanted them. I've tried flower bowls there before, but if I ever forget to water them for a day, they die. The self-watering planter has remedied that. I ordered just one to try it. I plan to order more, and some of your hanging, self-watering baskets for my daughter's birthday. Thank you. Gloria Thomas

I purchased two of these planters for my four year old Bird of Paradise plants. The plants are getting big and needed more room to grow and ultimately bloom. These planters work great, look good in my home and roll easily for moving outdoors for the warmer months. Superb!

Wow - a great looking planter I can move around easily! The self-watering feature works wonderfully...not like some I've tried. This one seems to really know when your plant might be "thirsty" and offers just enough to keep everyone happy. It rolls easily - even over carpet and looks pretty darn snazzy too. Do read the insert and find the goodies stashed underneath the packed bottom plate though. Assemble quickly per that insert then you and your now glad plant are good to go!

Comments about Self-Watering Rolling Planters, 15":

I've used these for several years inside some teak planters that hold benches. They've always worked very well for me. The only negative experience was recently when we had 2 awful storms come through, one after the other. We got as much as 5 inches of rain in one day. There was also hail and wind gusts up to 70 MPH. The storm destroyed most of my geraniums, breaking their stems and peeling their leaves away. Begonia tubers floated up and away. And these planters completely filled with water and ran over. My other self-watering containers, such as the window boxes which were hanging over the railing, drained the excess water. These didn't. I had to pull all the plants our and replace the soil. It seems my other self-watering container have an overflow somehow, but these do not. However, this situation is very rare and has only occurred once in three or more years.

One hole proved to be tougher than the other three and I managed to break the bottom of the container. After a lot of super-glue & tape, I finished the assembly and continue w/ my planting. So far, it is working great and the plants are thriving. The size and style (w/ wheels) are great for my small space, but I would warn anyone buying to be careful if buying for outdoor use. If the cap does not come off easily (after the second hit), move onto remove the other holes.

The water indicator on this is super easy to read and super easy to fill. I have an eggplant in one that has six eggplants on it and it's only been growing a month or so, from a very small purchased plant from a garden center. The plant has just zoomed in size and is producing lots of fruit. I used the organic self-watering planting mix in the container, from Gardener's Supply.

The granite color is not displayed, but it was a good choice - basically dark charcoal without any shine. Excellent accent with weathered teak furniture and the color stain on our deck. The drainage and water indicator work well. It is heavy when it is full of water. 4 herb plants in one pot, 2 herbs and 2 tomatoes in another are all thriving.

Planted a dwarf banana tree in the pot. This tree will be kept outside from late spring to early fall and them brought inside for the late fall and winter. So far no problems. The tree apppears to be growing well and the self watering feature appears to be working great. I really like the water level indication/fill system. It is a great improvement over systems used in the past.

I ordered one, planted zinnia and marigold seeds in it. The plants grew very well, and I could roll the planter from sunny spot to sunny spot. Love the water capacity it holds....no longer have to worry about being gone for a few days and having plants wilt. Also, after the frosty weather started, I could easily roll it under the porch roof (or right inside the house) for protection. I have ordered 2 more. I plan to plant tomatoes in them next year, along with the flowers.

I purchased the product to grow celantro on my back deck. However, with the daily heat at over 100+ degrees it just won't grow. I even keep the plants out of the direct rays of the sun. Even my tomatoes are small this year due to the heat. I guess I need some kind of cover to keep the direct sun light off the tomatoes. The product is fine however.

We bought this for use as patio planter during 2d yr of drought. Works fine. You add water down the tube; it wicks throughout the planter, keeping the plants in constant moisture. Flowers are growing nicely, I only have to add water weekly, not daily as with other planters. Very satisfied. Only con is the planter's too small (my fault for not buying large enough).
