Japanese beetles are just about the worst pest your garden can have. As adults, they ravage your flowers and vegetables. As young grubs they devour your lawn's root system, and they attract skunks and moles. Grub Guard beneficial nematodes are naturally occurring microorganisms that live in the soil, feeding on Japanese beetle grubs. Unlike chemical controls, they won't harm earthworms or most beneficial insects, and they are safe around pets.

Comments about Grub Guard:
Easy and convenient. No chemicals.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Spray it on lawn, The nematodes take care of grubs and the moles visit elsewhere. Result- no more bare spots!
Comments about Grub Guard:
Since item is microscopic, survival upon arrival is of question. Glass test was inconclusive. Harsh winter may kill it. Too expensive for the unknowns.
Comments about Grub Guard:
used product similar to this before...it worked then, hope this works also
Comments about Grub Guard:
You need to make it clearer in the description of the product that it is alive and must be kept that way and that they will only live for 30 days. We have no idea whether they were alive or dead when we applied them If I had known what I found out when they arrived I would never have ordered them
Comments about Grub Guard:
This came way too early for me to apply so I had to store it in the refridgerator as per the instructions. My advice is to wait until you are ready to apply and then order. But, much to my surprise the nematodes seemed to be still alive after about 5 weeks in the fridge. When I applied it with the garden sprayer, I couldn't tell if I was applying it evenly or even at all. I would like for it to have a little color packet to add to the water that wouldn't harm the nematodes or earth so I could tell what was happening as I applied them with the garden sprayer. Right now its too soon to tell if it works.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I wanted one only for nemitodes that hadn't been used for fertilizer. Worked great! Gonna keep it.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Grub guard was simple to apply if you followed the directions for using the sprayer. The watering can method was confusing to me, and I couldn't figure out how you'd know the application rate. It seemed vague. The result won't be seen until next spring and summer when we see a reduction in the Japanese Beetle population.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Used as directed but the Japanese beetles came anyway. Maybe will try next year but was very unimpressed
Comments about Grub Guard:
I applied with watering can a month ago. I see no difference in the number of gnawing insects and slugs but hope there will be fewer next spring.
Comments about Grub Guard:
In our climate (coastal Connecticut) these beneficial nematodes won't winter over, so it's becoming an annual routine. Milky spore does survive the winters, but doesn't get all the other-than-Japanese-Beetle grubs. For me, the jury's still out. I'm hoping it will be a winner.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I thought it came in strange packaging (a sponge) and the directions were strange, but I waited for a good cool, cloudy day in the spring -- it stayed in my fridge almost a month! I did put the sponge in a measuring cup with water and squeezed it to see if they were swimming and alive -- they definately were -- I was worried. Then I poured it in the gallon of water and kept shaking it to keep them swimming. I used a bottle hose sprayer and it was easy! It started working right away although I still see a few grubs here and there -- it is definately worth it!!
Comments about Grub Guard:
Put this easy -to- use product on the flower and veggie garden and lawn. Very helpful. Not a threat to my pets or people and they are a chemical -free way to control those pesky grubs.

This product left my lawn grub free last summer. I just applied it two weeks ago and I'm hoping for the same results.

Easy and safe!

Used this 11 years ago in combination with Milky Spore - fast acting, great until the Milky Spore took hold.

Comments about Grub Guard:
Several plants in the garden were dying and after being told about grubs, I tried several products. This was the only one that stopped the infestation. It was a bit messy however, but well worth it.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I applied these (along with Milky Spore) last summer. I was amazed to see areas of my lawn green up for the first time ever! I've had professionals apply grub control products and have applied my own in past years and nothing has ever worked like this! I've been spreading the word to all my neighbors. LOVE IT!
Comments about Grub Guard:
I have used similiar products in the past and they are very effective on Japanese beetles. It is easy to apply, safe for animals and humans and a natural way to control pests that like to eat my lovely flowers. I take pride in my garden and this product makes my life easier and keeps my yard beautiful.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Very effective in past in eliminating grubs but didn't work very well this year

Comments about Grub Guard:
I didn't expect the product to be so time sensitive. First, you have to refrigerate product AND keep it moist (but not drown it) until such time as the weather cooperates (damp conditions, no harsh sun, no hard rains...). Then you have to mix it in water and hope you have a "live" product. I couldn't see any with naked eye and doubted weather there really were any live critters in the package! I would not buy this product again. I feel like I flushed money down the drain! Big waste!
Comments about Grub Guard:
I purchased it to control beetles . I love the idea of eco friendly products. I won't know until later if it is effective.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I won't use anything in my garden that isn't organic, so I was happy to find this product. It's too early to rate its true effectiveness, but I am confident it will work.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I use Grub Guard annually on my garden to organically control grubs and cut-worms. It works well. Sometimes difficult to apply as it must be applied in wet, cool conditions.

I just mixed with water in watering can and applied that way to my ground, I can't believe the good that it did for my garden. Thanks for a great product.

I've used it for years and love it. this year i'm trying it on a synthetic lawn i'm not sure it will work but worth a try.

Comments about Grub Guard:
Unfortunately I found that the Grub Guard isn't always effective. It doesn't work on different stages of wireworm grub growth. However, I will apply again in early spring. It has worked miracles in the past I've used it for 6+ years with excellent results.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I have been using Grub Guard on my lawn for a number of years. I wish I had put it down in the Spring of this year because I needed it then. I thought I was grub-free, but by September I knew they were back. I applied it a few weeks ago but will remember to repeat again next spring. I get these tiny wire worms and when I had my first infestation years ago it was so bad I could blow the lawn up like a toupee on someone's head. The grass just pulled right out. Grub guard actually saved that lawn. It's a great product and I recommend it without hesitation.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I bought this product to try and control fleas in the yard since we have a new puppy. It is hard to determine if it is working since things are small but I do believe it worked since our dog seems better with the scratching.
Comments about Grub Guard:
can be applied by watering can if need be, just need to do some math
Comments about Grub Guard:
I had a zucchini plant that the grubs had eaten all but the stalk. After I appled, it's actually got some leaf growth. Too bad I didn't spread over the whole garden. Slugs on my tomatoes, but I didn't spread the product there. I'll know better next time!
Comments about Grub Guard:
Not sure if i got this in the ground on time but we do notice a reduced number of Japanese beetles on our trees and shrubs. Very easy to use in a hand held sprayer.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I HAD A REAL GRUB PROBLEM . I APPLIED GRUB GAURD TO MY GARDEN. A FEW WEEKS LATER,NOW THERES KNOW SING OF OF GRUBS.

Comments about Grub Guard:
There are several problems with this product. 1) It doesn't tell you whether or not you can put the whole styrofoam container in the fridge or if it should only be the sponge in the bag. 2) I had no idea how long it takes for a gallon of water to reach room temperature. Also, a gallon of concentrate was really too much for my needs. 3) it says to put a small amount of concentrate in a watering can or whatever your method of spraying is. [...]

Comments about Grub Guard:
application was simple. I had two areas on my lawn that were struggling to fill in and had been this way for 5 years. I am noticing a difference after the 5th week post application.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Easy to use, works!!!

Comments about Grub Guard:
Prior to applying the Grub Guard, every time we dug in the gardens we would encounter numerous grubs. About 3 weeks after applying it we rarely dig one up. We'll probably reapply in another week just to be on the safe side.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Not one grub is dead but all of my letuce is

I used this in our vegatable garden.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I have been having a hard time with raccoons coming into my garden to dig up grubs, and cutworms. I recently sprayed these beneficial nematodes to cut off their food supply. I'm hoping this will alleviate the problem.

Comments about Grub Guard:
If you have a large lawn, read the directions before you decide to buy. Lawn must be moist before application, and you have to keep the lawn moist for several days after. Try to schedule delivery for start of a rainy period, or you will be doing a lot of watering.
Comments about Grub Guard:
environmentally friendly

Comments about Grub Guard:
Love these nematodes. I've been using this for about 7 years and haven't had any grub worm damage to my lawn, since I began. Skunks used to dig holes in the lawn, in order to get the grubs, and now that is no longer a problem.
Comments about Grub Guard:
I pulled 400 grubs just out of my vegetable bed this spring so I had to do something but safe too. Nemetodes looks like the right choice for me. It's too soon to see if this stuff works[...] I got from Gardeners.com. The live nemetodes arrived very quickly. I mixed the sponge with water in a large watering can and coated my veg bed and then refilled the bucket and did the grass area and then you have to keep the area damp for the next few days to have them establish. That's it.

I will know this summer if I don't have many Japanese beetles whether this product works or not. If it works then I will recommend it.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I use grub guard yearly for my lawns and garden beds to control the inevitable grub infestation. It always works, is easy to apply and is not harmful to beneficial bugs.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Two years ago our HOA told us that they had discovered Japanese beetles in the area. Sure enough, when I was cleaning up a bed in March, discovered grubs in the soil(this probably explains the skunks recently). I've tried not to disturb the soil too much after application last month to let the nemos do their thing, but guess the proof in the pudding will be in the summer. I plan to apply again in fall at any rate.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I FOLOWED DIRECTIONS [...] AND THERE WAS NO NOTATION ON THE BOX THAT STATED IT NEEDED TO BE REFRIGERATED IF NOT USED IMMEDIATELY. I FOLLOWED APPLICATION DIRECTIONS AND CAN ONLY HOPE THAT IT WORKED AND I WILL START TO SEE RESULTS AT SOME POINT, MEANWHILE NEW MOLE HOLES APPEAR ON A DAILY BASIS.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I was pretty skeptical. We have always had a bad Japanese beetle problem. I applied this last spring and it simply eliminated the problem. I never saw one beetle and there was almost no sign of their work on my plants. I thought perhaps it was just coincidence and it had not been a bad year for beetles. When I told my arborist about it he said it had been a terrible year for beetles and he was amazed it was so effective.

Comments about Grub Guard:
Living in Woodstock, Vermont, I believe I ordered the product too late in the season as the ground became cold early this year. I will have to reorder and reapply the product next spring. I would have appreciated advice about my being too late to apply. I was concerned about the grubs living to do any good this autumn.

Comments about Grub Guard:
It was hard to apply, hard to know if we were getting them all in the soil. I am still finding grubs so I don't know how effective it will be. I have not had time to apply the milky spore, which may help, but I am a little disappointed.

Comments about Grub Guard:
Used in combination with a chemical to kill moles. Sprayed mole spray first and then used material to kill the beetle larvae and slugs. Seems to have worked. It has been a month and no sign of moles where there was a heavy mole infestation.
Comments about Grub Guard:
Easy to use, just applied it so too early to tell if it is effective.
Comments about Grub Guard:
-It is difficult to determine "IF" you have "LIVE" product.
-It handles MORE than just Japanese beetles, which is very important (flea beetles and other adverse larve).
-It is a great way to fight your pest problems WITHOUT pesticides!!!!!

Comments about Grub Guard:
My front lawn was devastated by grubs late last summer. But the lawn just wasn't coming back this spring after I had applied a nematode product from another supplier last year. So I applied Grub Guard before reseeding again this spring. The lawn is now recovering and I'll reapply again when appropriate this fall. Anxious to see how it will fare next spring.
Though it was suggested, I would not apply this product with a hose end sprayer because it is difficult to tell when the nematode solution is exhausted from the sprayer container. Recommend pump sprayer or watering can.

I kept it in the fridge to keep the nemetodes alive they lasted a whole week after delivery.A bonus in our busy lives

We live on sand and the grubs are a real problem. Hated the thought of using insecticides. Worried about run off to the lake. Instructions easy.worked great butthe application and keeping the lawn watered for the next few days a chore. Happy with the results will reapply in the fall and spring

This prodoct did nothing from what I can tell. It was expensive on top of it. I followed the instructions to a tee, and still saw no results whatsoever. Very disappointed and would not recommend it to anyone.
