Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

The product arrived in good shape, directions were easy. Have bought this plant from others before and it was fine. The bulbs sprouted slowly and the plants were rangy looking, very few blooms and not a nice holiday gift for my 93-year-old mother.

It was a lovely gift idea. My friend was able to see it grow and bloom. She was able to enjoy it as it grew and after it bloomed. It lasted much longer than I thought. It is still blooming. It was contained in a nice planter which can be used for other plants later and the bulbs can be taken into the garden and planted for future blooming next year. GREAT GIFT>

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

The first seven Star of Bethlehem planters I ordered produced beautiful flowers and the persons I gave them to and the two I kept were enjoyed immensely for their beauty and the fun of watching them grow.
However, the three that I ordered and arrived on Christmas Eve have only produced one flower each rather than thirty and I and my two ministers to whom I was going to give them to are greatly disappointed. The bulbs just put out green stems. I feel you should replace the last 3 planters. It was hard to give a rating - for the first 7, I would give a 5-star rating, but the last 3 were really unacceptable.
I will send a picture of the bloomed containers and also a picture of the planters with only one bloom and mostly green stems.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

This was purchased to be used at Christmas. I thought I was getting it at just about the right time (as advertised) so I would have a beautiful display on Christmas. Some of the flowers had died off the week before Christmas and by Christmas ALL the flowers had died off. Since all the flowers were not in bloom at the same time and there was a lot of space between each stem, this would not have proven to be a beautiful display at Christmas anyway. Bad choice on my part and I definitely won't buy it again. Good part - I have a lovely tin that I can use again and again.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

I have always liked these blooms as an alternative choice to Christmas cactus, Amaryllis or Poinsettia. The bulbs I have gotten before came up strong and full in MA and MD. I sent this to my brother in WI and they bloomed but with less vigor. The blooms came up like runners and never fully filled out the vessel. We think this arrangement really likes warmth and strong sun. Nice choice but consider the destination. I will buy again when available.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

Far less than 30 bulbs sprouted. The soil level in the planter was very uneven and that may have contributesd to the lack of growth. I am very disappointed in the results. The planter is attractive enough, but since only 11 bulbs have sprouted I feel the product is not worth the cost and I doubt if I will ever purchase such an item from Gardeners Supply in the future as my results will not come anywhere near what was described. Very disappointed.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

This is what my mother in law (the recipient of the gift) said, "I enjoyed watching the flowers come up, but since you asked for suggestions, I'll say: Since they came up at different times, they never looked like the advertised picture. The little flowers were pretty, but the whole thing looked straggly at times. Sorry – I still thank you very much for the gift, but since you asked . . . I also think that 30 bulbs were too many for the small container."

It was sad to disappoint her. Even though I read some negative reviews about this product from last year I was hoping it would be different this year because the picture of the Stars of Bethlehem flowers were so beautiful. I suggest the company discontinue this item.

I was very disappoinyed with the two trays of the bulbs I bought, They were nothing like the picture example on your website. The stems were tall and leggy, some falling over. I definitely think they were overpriced for what I ended up with. I followed all directios and could not have found a more suitable place for them. They were on my sunroom with lots of windows, not direct sunlight. The room is airconditioned but slighly cooler than the rest of the house.

I received this as a gift the day after Thanksgiving. Three weeks later, 29 of the 30 bulbs are up, 18 are blooming, and the rest are about to bloom. I simply unpacked it, removed the fiber mat (which is packing material!) to expose the tiny sprouts, waited until it thawed, then watered it well and placed it in a south-facing window. I didn't have to water it much until it started blooming last week. It does not look exactly like the picture yet, but it is getting there! What a wonderful gift!

The product in the picture was very lovely. In actuality, the bulbs did not bloom in unison as in the picture. The flower stems drooped. The container is attractive. I have not had the time to count to see if the 30 bulbs are actually sprouting. The item is overpriced.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

I gave this as a gift to a friend. I followed the directions, but the bulbs started sprouting at different times. Also, there were no directions about what to do with the floral material on top of the container, so I left it there. It seemed to impede the growth of the plants, but by the time I realized it, some had broken through, and it was hard to do anything about it.

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

There is nothing more lovely than a field of flowers, but if you don't have a field, try to plant in a wind-protected area. In the mornings, some take their time waking up...and by early dusk, the white petals seem to brighten. You'll love them year after year!

EXTREMELY INVASIVE IN THE GARDEN
By Marge from Portsmouth, RI on 11/14/2009
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Star of Bethlehem, 30 Bulbs:

This bulb is extremely invasive when planted in the garden. The bulbs multiply rapidly and the wind blows the seeds!
