Simply put, tomato ladders didn't support tomatoes.
Great product
These tomato towers are terrific. They stand up to the weight of enormous Brandywines and do not pull out of the soil nor tip over. I do tie the tomato vines to them at the beginning of the season to keep them somewhat confined. I only wish they were a foot or two taller for those really BIG tomato plants.
I also use them for peas and cucumbers to keep these plants growing upwards, saving space on the ground.
At the end of the season I simply hose them off. They take very little space to store.
I found that I needed to use more than one ladder to hold up my medium to larger fruits and veggies.I still had to tie them to the ladder or they would fall out. Stakes on the bottom bend easier than I thought they would. I'm afraid over a season or two they might break off. I enjoyed the ease of stacking them up for storage after this summers use.Easy to hose off.Nice colors.
These tomato ladders grew the largest crop of succulent tomatoes I have seen in my garden. I grew them along side of other tomatoes in wire trellises. The ladders produced larger tomatoes and in greater amounts than in trellises. I highly recommend these tomato ladders. They will last for years.
These supports make the garden look organized. The only drawback is tomatoe plants escape from the open side. They need to be positioned so you can reach in the open side to harvest the produce.
These supports are easy to set in the soil, they hold up huge tomato plants and the huge tomatoes too. They fit into each other for storage, which is a space saver.
I am now midway through tomato season. The indeterminate plants have sprawled outside their small cages with tomato laden branches on ground. The depth of the enclosure not adequate for a bushy plant. I hope they can be redesigned as the sturdiness is certainly a big plus. I may attempt to use two facing one another next year.
Red is not a good color for tomato cage - I should have chosen green, but failed to note that color was available when I ordered.
Best use as support for single stem plants such as peppers and eggplants. May be OK for determinate tomatoes.
I bought a set of these for my brother's garden because his tomatoes were always falling over with regular tomato cages. He likes them so much he wanted another set. I had such a hard time giving them up I just had to buy a set for myself!
This is the first year that my tomato plants (support and all) didn't fall over in rain or from the weight of the plants. With conventional tomato cages, I've needed to add extra support with stakes by mid-summer, Not this year! With your tomato ladders, my plants are tall and upright. A great product!
loved how supportive they were in holding up tomato plants...just wish they were a bit taller. The red color made it easier to see through all the green of the leaves.

There is no better or longer lasting tomato tower!
To use as support of our numerous tomato plants.Kept the tomato plants upright, fruit off the dirt, fruit grew to approximately 2lbs per tomato. The plants were able to get more air and sunlight to them. Allowed us to be able to walk between the rows of tomato plants without breaking the plants. Marvelous invention.
I use these to support tomatoes, peppers, bush beans, eggplants, etc. Also use them to support my tall flowers that tend to bend over and break - like sun flowers and hollyhocks! No downside - easy to store as they stack together nicely. My friend is a professional vegetable and landscape gardner and he loned mine so much he is using them for his company now too.
I have managed 8 vigorous squash plants in 1 of your mini-grow beds (18" by 36") by using my vertical space and growing upward instead of outward horizontally. Thanks Gardener's Supply!
These are much better then standard circle cages and they really support the weight. We will be purchasing another set really soon since they have worked out so well.
These ladders are so much better than the flimsy tomato cages and easier to use than my bamboo sticks. I love the red color in my garden. The only problem is they are not quite large enough but I could place two around some of my larger plants. Over all ~ a great product.
An excellent product! This is our second set!
These tomato ladders do not adequately support a full plant with lots of branches. I have had to add a variety of stakes to try to support tomato-laden branches shooting out from these ladders. I had better success with the small vegetable ladders for smaller plants, such as basil, eggplant, etc.

I used these tomato ladders for growing tomatoes for the first time this season. I also used the round metal tomato rings to grow tomatoes next to them. My tomatoes that grew in the red ladders were the strongest, and hardiest plants and bore an amazing amount of good size tomatoes. The other tomato plants that were on the old round rings fell out of the rings, trailed on the ground and didn't produce as many tomatoes. The ladders are so sturdy and will last for many years. You can train your plants to grow into the ladders without much effort at all.
* Note: I planned on ordering more ladders during this sale, but found that not only were they NOT on sale, they went up in price by $10. What a shame!
attractive in the garden, stands in ground firmly, plants supported well
Anything helps by back is great and their good for the tomatoes to!
Sturdy support for tomato plants; they enter the ground easily and stack perfectly. So much better than cages. Will last for years. A great product.
Even though I put these in later than I should have I was able to fit my 2' tall tomato plants into the interior of the tomato ladder with little difficulty.
Heavy winds have toppled my clematis twice and blown my flag out of the holder but these tomato ladders have held fast and secure.
I'm a senior and I love the independence these give me. Easy to carry, install, remove and store without needing a second person. Reuseable year after year. What a truly great product! Thank you Gardener's Supply!
I hoped they would have been bigger/heavier.
This is our best tomato year to date. I LOVE these things. My Green Zebras are taller than me (I'm 5'1") and have tons of fruit. (I should tell you - this is the first time I grew them from seed, so ...) Anyway, the plants seem to love them too - I'm buying more.
Oh, and you know, they make the garden seem a little more, well, organized.
Great for supporting tomato plants. Do not hesitate to buy.
Usually, my tomatoe plants get too big and heavy and start falling over with the traditional tomatoe cages, especially when it rains. The tomatoe ladders have held their ground and are much easier and compact to use. I am so glad I bought them and plan to buy some more next spring. I would highly recommend them.
We replaced most of the old wire cages with 10 new ladders this year. They look nice and we were able to better organize our tomato plants. It also gets quite windy where we live and these ladders stand up to the challenge. Friends from Ohio saw our ladders on a recent visit and went home and ordered some for their garden. Impressive!

It's great for small plants, but not for beefsteak tomatoes. The vines were too tall (6'+) and the tomatoes were too heavy for the small cage. The vines would collapse on the side or fall through the opening (even after they were trained).
Recommend that you list the possible types of tomatoes that are appropriate to grow with it.
The ladders have been a colorful addition to the garden and work well. However, I think the cheaper cages work fine considering the price of the ladders. I like them but not enough to buy several more for my expanding garden.
Tomato production began earlier and have continued profusely. Ladders remained upright even in heavy winds.
Next year I'll use red ladders exclusively for our tomatoes.
Recommend, but with reservations. The ladders do quite well with the cherry tomato plants, but have been completely overwhelmed by the full-size varieties.
The ladders are sturdy for holding up tomato plants. The plants intertwine around the ladders.
When I first ordered these, I thought they were a little pricey but quickly changed my mind when they arrived. Extremely strong. Out garden is partially shaded so tomatoe plants traditionally get very tall stretching for the sun. These supports are perfect for my huge, heavy plants. Would make a great, practical gift for family or friend gardener!
These are really heavy duty supports. Unfortunately, they weren't big enough/wide enough to support my sprawling tomato plants, but they are doing great at keeping my Brussel Sprout plants from falling over this year.
Color fade after one year quite noticeable when additional new units were added. One weld broke(bottom rung). Tomato sets come in sets of 6. How about a set of 6 ladders instead of 5?
Easy to get into the ground. Solid rod construction makes them much sturdier than old wire cages, Easy to attach to when tying up plants. Attractive looking.
easy to install and very helpful with my tomatoes and bell peppers. I had to keep up with the growth by repostioning vines, but it was very easy.
I found it easy to train the plants up the ladder.

These ladders are so easy to use! They hold even the heaviest of tomatoes and we've got some big ones!
My husband loves his vegetable garden and added these tomato ladders this year. Not only do they look bright and colorful in his raised beds, they work very well for his tomato crops!
These tomato ladders looked beautiful even before the tomatoes grew up through them. The color blends perfectly with the zinnias, dahlias, and sunflowers of summer! I've had many people ask where I purchased them.
I will now look forward to growing tomatoes each season with the tomato ladders to easily support my tomato plants. It is so easy to guide the plants through the ladder as they grow and the construction of this product is perfect for support due to the size and vinyl coating.

THe tomato ladders are a big improvement over the old fence system I was using. They are very strong and easy to install. My tomato plants sometimes get too big for them. That is the only problem I've had so far.
I have never seen the tomato plants grow so tall. It kept them from folding up on themselves.
Used in a raised garden 36"X 36" easy to contain plant using all 5 in one raised garden.
Really like the strength of this product. Plus it works LOADS better than the old tomato cages, and so much easier to stack and store!
I love these tomato supports. I live in PA and have lots of shale making it difficult to get thin tomato cage supports into the ground. These tomato cages went in easily as they are quite rigid. Exactly what I was looking for!
My tomato plants get very large, so an even wider tomato support could be even better. Yet these are the pest supports I have ever tried. Thanks for a superior product.
No need to tie branches like I did with flimsy tomato cages that were too short and didn't hold up to heavy tomatoes.
Very easy to use and they look great too.
gave me more space
These supports are perfect, and not limited to tomato plants.
I have used "tie ups" for many years, and then tried another product from your catalog last year which was not strong enough for my tomato plants, but these are terrific--strong enough to hold up the plants without needing tying and easy to put up in the garden with little or no effort. I plan to get more for some of my flowering plants as well.
Our red tomatoe ladders are so sturdy for our over the top tomatoes. They give them great support. We were amongst the first to ahve blossoms and tomatoes. Love the red color.
Every year my tomato cages collapse under the weight of the fruit. This system is staying erect and is easy to tie the plants to without damaging branches. It's staying erect and it's kinda pretty in the garden. My yard is on a garden walk this summer and I'm glad I switched to this type of support.
not quite sure what is the best way to sink them in the ground without damaging them.
I've used a variety of tomato supports over the years and I fell in love with these tomato ladders. I don't have to support them with a fence post like I used to do with my old tomato cages. Picking tomatoes out of these cages is a snap also. These are fantastic!
No hammer required. They go easily into the soil. Can step on the bottom rungs to push them in as far as they will go. Stand up against wind and heavy vines.
Requires more work than tomato cages but they are ideal for smaller plants (peppers, eggplants & patio tomatoes) and they are attractive. Can't comment on longevity but I'm impressed that none have toppled in relatively high winds.
I purchased 10 of the red tomato ladders for the first time this year after trying every other kind of flimsy thing in years past. My tomato plants (9 in all) are thriving and have grown 2 ft.over the top of the 5ft.tall ladders. The supports for the vines are wonderful, it is easy to tie the vines to and the ladders don't wiggle or sway at all. These are the best things I have seen for this job! Add the coating over the steel and I figure these will last many years.
Our garden is in the front yard since that's the only place we get enough sun. My husband thought the bamboo poles I used last year were tacky. I got these so our garden would look neater and meet my husbands approval. He liked them a lot and I was very pleased at how well they worked. No more twine. They are sturdy and we've had a lot of wind this year. I'm very pleased. Everyone asks me where we got them.
My tomato cages were old and falling apart. When I saw these cages I thought what the heck I will give them a try. They are heavy duty and stand up to my tomato plants and I will be buying more of them. I expect they will last a long long time.
These ladders are very durable and make the garden look great also.
I used them in my vegetable garden. They look and work great.
I couldn't use 5.
I had to find some one to take 2 off my hands.
Too short. Would like my money back.
I'm very pleased with these ladders. Although I would perfer them to be widder and taller, I am able to tie my tomato plants up to the ladder and the ladder is strong and study enough to support all this growth. This year I have grown the largest and fullest tomato plants ever using these ladders. A few of my plants are now so large you can no longer see the ladder at all.
