    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These tomato cages are great. They support the plants well and it is easier to reach in and pick the tomatoes. I didn't use any ground stakes and they blew over in heavy wind. I will definitely use stakes next year. They store easily and take up very little space. I would buy more of these for next year's garden.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These tomato cages are great. Nice and sturdy, square so you don't need as much garden tape to hold up the plants, lots of places on all four sides to support the veggies and fruit as they grow. Best of all instead of all the space big old cumbersome tomato supports take, these hang in the potting shed flat against the wall for next year.

They are easy to install, very sturdy, and the best part is that they fold flat for easy garage storage.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

This year I planted our usual 14 tomato plants, then found four new varieties we wanted to try. I bought cages for them from our local (very good) nursery. When we got home and attempted to get them around the new plants they were wimpy, ungainly, awkward to handle and of poor quality. Took them back and immediately ordered 4 new ones from Gardener's Supply. Thanks ! xox

So easy, even if you never gardened before. Super sturdy. Holds up even in severe thunderstorms and keeps the tomato plants upright. If you have tomatoes, you have to get these cages!

We have used sturdy stakes for 20 years, which entails tying up the plants as they increase in height. These cages save that extra labour, keeping them very tidy and accessible. We had a problem with deer eating the plants at the beginning of the season, but they no longer go there. I'm thinking they don't want to mess with the metal structure.

I had one set of these from years ago that are still going strong. Then went to a garden center and bought some that were much lighter in weight and harder to store. I gave those away the next year and ordered more. You can not beat the wire weight of these and the ease of use and storage. And they will last for years.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

I purchased these to go in my self-watering containers on my deck. They were recommend as "you might also be interested in..." on the self-watering container page here at Gardener Supply. As others have pointed out, the cages are not very tall, which is a problem for particularly wild tomato varieties, but I could live with that. What was I wasn't expecting was how narrow the cages are, tiny squares instead of roomy rectangles. (Note to self: use a tape measure to gauge size BEFORE ordering!) They fill a little over a half of the large rectangular self-watering containers.

The spot welds aren't all that great, either. I tested them all, and they seem sturdy enough this year, but I suspect I'll be fixing them in a year or two.

All in all, a decent enough product, but I would like to see them be wider, as well as taller.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

[...] I was immediately supirsed by thier light weight and flimsy feel. [...]Once in the ground around a young tomato plant they work great, supporting even a large tomato plant with no problem. However, when my tomatoes got blighted and I had to remove the cages to pull out and disgard the tomatoes, three out of four cages bent and two of those broke at the indequate weld joints.Note: You do have to be careful not to bend or cause them to snap apart when pushing them into the soil initially. All in all, I was disapointed with the quality and poor construction of the cages and next year I will be looking for a stronger, better built replacement.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These tomato cages are so much better than the round ones I used to use. They hold up from year to year, and store easily. I only had 8 of them from last year, so I had to get 8 more this summer. They work well for any vining plant that you need to keep the fruit off the ground. You can even plant peas around the outside of the cage to save space. When I store them next time, I will only collapse them, not completely fold them up because it can be tricky to get them opened up again.

These cages work equally well from the determinate tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and other shorter plants. I use the GS tomatoe Towers-Set of 2 from the taller tomato plants.

I'm a first time tomato gardner - My grandchildren & I each planted tomato's in a race to see who could produce the 1st tomato. Once they got going, the plants began leaning with the weight of the tomato's, I saw these & they are perfect! The cages hold up the plants & they look so neat & tidy in the yard! Came folded flat & popped right open for easy use & storage! Can't get any easier than this! Thanks for a great product!

The description in the catalog is very accurate. These heavy-duty tomato cages are durable as they hold up year after year of use resisting rusting and bending. Comments about Tomato Cages:

This is one of the best products on the market for the square foot gardener. I have always had problems getting water to the roots. These self-watering pots do just that. This is my 2nd set and I plant everything in them; tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, squash, whatever.

I used tie wraps on the cage. I found this easier than the snap together clips that came with the kit.

I do not like the new pot design. My first set of pots had a hole at the bottom and it was easy to put the water hose in the hole and fill the pot until the water overflowed throught the hole. These pots have a tube for adding water and I find if difficult to know when the resevoir is full. I do not feel that his design is a plus to these pots.

I also didn't realize that I needed to pull off the tip of the peaks in the resevoir to allow water to drain. One pot is set up correctly and the 2nd is not. I was also confused about the float system. It fell apart in my hands and once I figured out the 2nd pot, I realized my mistakes with the first pot.

I have the extended tower version - for my Earthboxes...I've staked them in a diamond pattern. My tomatoes are supported from the wind and should have plenty of growing room vertically. I will mention that four hands are better than two if you have established plants. I should have bought these sooner. These are VERY well made -- can't imagine them falling apart on the way to the garden as another mentioned, since these are the best tomato support I can find on the market...Try one--I highly recommend them. I will buy several more for next year.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

I use my tomato cages in the 3 EarthBox containers gardens on the deck as well as in the raised beds for tomatoes, cucumbers and summer squash. I currently have one placed in a diamond shape (not opened fully to a square) at the very end of one of the raised beds and will be training some butternut squash to climb up the cage to keep the squash off from the ground. As I am short on gardening space, I tend to crowd in as many different vegetables in my gardens as I can. 99% of the tomato cages and bean cages are opened up into squares.

I also have two of the tall bean cages that I use to grow my Kentucky Wonder Pole Green Beans and KW Wax Beans on. The cages are so much better than using poles cut from small trees in the woods and last much longer. They are also very attractive in the garden when covered with the bean foliage and blossoms. Picking the beans from them is made much easier too. The cages are easy to store in my gardening room in the barn. They fold up flat and I hang them up on hooks on the walls along with tomato cages and rings that support the tall flowers in my gardens. I highly recommend them to all gardeners.

I've had a few of these cages for 7+ years and they still look/work good as new. They are the sturdiest metal cages I have seen for home gardens and I appreciate that they are collapsable for winter storage. They can handle heavy loads. The only cages I've liked better are wooden and bamboo ones I've built myself, especially in terms of appearance. But really, it doesn't get much better than these. They are my standard go-to's.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

Much easier to use/store than traditional round tomato cages. One of about a dozen warped and bent some when it was folded for storage. It's still quite usable. Once the tomato plant reaches full size, it's not noticeable. Also -- use care when unfolding. They can pop open suddenly and it's easy to get scraped by the raw ends of the wire toggles.

It's almost July and, so far, these tomato cages are very adequate. They are study and seem large enough to contain the plants and keep them fairly upright. Have had a lot of windy days without any problems; the cages remained in place and provided good support for the plants. I think they will work well once the plants bear fruit.

Last year the tomato plants I had in large pots overgrew the bamboo stakes. So I tried these this year. In addition to using it as a four sided box, you can take one side off and make a triangle for a pot that is not wide enough for all four sides. Stores well (flat). I bought some for a friend who has a huge garden.

It's about time! It's great to have a sturdy tomato cage that can hold the weight. We live in a windy site and it's very difficult to keep top heavy plants from blowing over. The square design really holds plants in place. Also, the idea that they fold flat for storage is terrific. The 'old' cages didn't store well...too much opportunity for injury. Thanks for this great product!

We purchased one last year and it was late in the season, so the cherry tomato plants were hard to get in the cage, but this year we ordered another one and put the cages in right after planting the cherry and grape tomato plants. So far so good. I like knowing that the plants are all inside and won't fall over come August. We finally feel we got a handle on this years garden. Will keep you posted on the end results.

These cages work great. The old cone shaped cages I had were flimsy, difficult to store and not tall enough or strong enough. I have used these cages for tomatoes and to contain climbing cucumbers as well. I haven't found anything that works as well in any of my favorite gardening stores. Try um, you'll like um!

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These tomato cages are so easy to use! And they can be stored for many years of productive use.
In addition to tomatoes, several cages in a row can provide good climbing space for vines like cucumbers or gourds. After the gardening season is over, they can be used to keep male deer away from slender young trees as they try to scape the velvet from their antlers. I often use older cages to protest young trees from weed-eater damage at the base.
When collapsed, they keep well in a garage or storage shed and can be re-used many times.
I wish the standard cages could be 10-11 inches taller; otherwise I think they are perfect.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

The tomato cages are perfect for what they are designed for, but they are not made as well as they could/should be. I broke at least one or more welds on every cage (4) just in unpacking/opening them; I suspect that more will break during use. Disappointing as I had hoped to use them multiple times over a few years.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

I think this is a GREAT product. The uses are pretty versatile. Tomatoes, obviously. Also, climbing peas/beans or any other veggies. I would suggest a longer "leg" to push into the ground for more stability. I love the way it folds flat for storage. Fantastic! Can be stacked pretty sturdily also for taller plants.
This is well worth the money. Buy more than you think you'll use because you WILL use them! Whether with stacking or buying more tomatoes than you thought you would! You'll use them.

These heavy gauge Tomato cages are truly perfect. I put them in my 30" deep, raised bed, organic vegetable garden to support my "Big Beef" heirloom tomato plants. When the season is finished, they will easily and simply collapse into a nice, compact, flat unit that is easily slid back into its' shipping carton and stored until next year. Have a good, heavy coat of galvanizing so I expect they will last for years.

These square cages are superior! Not only do they offer sturdy support to tomatoes, but they have worked with cucumbers, beans, and peppers. We love that they can be placed side to side to be more space efficient in the garden. We have also used them to protect rose bushes from our 3 frisky golden retreivers! And,we have used a cage in each garden bed for compost-we set up the cage, and then pull a large heavy-duty trash bag (cut open at the bottom)over it and then just dump in our kitchen scraps each day(vegetable and fruit peelings, coffee grounds, eggshells)all winter long. When spring comes,we pull off the trash bag, lift up the cage, and spread the organic matter in the garden bed.Definitely a garden must-have and the fold-up storage is a plus!

I am only giving this product a 4 star rating, because this is April and my tomato plants are just now going into the ground. However,I am very optomistic about it's future performance when the plants reach maturity. All of the cages I tried in the past, were very disappointing.

These cages were good for growing tomatoes bue it would have been better had they been somewhat taller. As the plants continued to grow, they ended up growing over the top and outward which is what I want to avoid with cages. They are plenty sturdy enough and generally easy to pick tomatoes from.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These are sturdy, durable cages that succeed in holding up our tomatoes, dahlias and other tall flowering plants. My dahlias had a habit of knocking down their stakes or breaking at the ties, and the cages hold them upright all summer, even in full flower. The cages are well designed, disappear from sight in foliage, and fold up for compact winter storage. I've purchased them several times, even as a Christmas gift for a gardening in-law.

    Comments about Tomato Cages:

These cages are constructed of just the right mil wire size to be sturdy, but also lightweight for ease of setup and storage. I've bought three other brands of tomato cages and they were either too flimsy, didn't have long enough stakes to push deeply into the soil, or were too cumbersome for storage. I even fabricated my own cages out of 4X2 galvanized steel fence wire, but none of these methods offer the easy extension capability of the Gardener's supply cages. Openings are just the right size for reaching through and plucking out the tomatoes as they ripen lower down on the plants. This was difficult to do with other cages I've bought. A few friends told me this past summer "these are really nice tomato cages, much better than the cone cages. Where did you get them?"

Was happily surprised at the strength of the cages. No flimsiness. I live in a part of the country that has 2 growing seasons. The cages are doing a beautiful job of holding up a plant that will purportedly produce tomatoes weighing up to 6 pounds each.

I am confident the cages can support that size fruit. Love the fact that the cages fold for storage.

    Good product.

This is a repeat purchase as I usually try something first before going more into it. I've found this is definitely a plus up here by the Canadian border in MN where the north wind blows and will be getting more. They're definitely easier for me to store than the circular cages. The only con I found to the cages is that they don't set themselves out in the spring and put themselves away in the fall.
