You don’t need a big greenhouse to start seedlings or harden-off transplants in the spring. Our Patio Grow House has a trim 36" x 18" footprint, so it can fit in any sunny space, yet it provides almost 13 square feet of growing area on three shelves. Like larger, pricier models, it has double-walled polycarbonate glazing to capture and hold the sun’s heat — there’s even glazing on the back. On warm spring days, the gull-wing roof panels and double doors open to prevent overheating. Because the best spring sun often shines on the deck or patio, we’ve given the Grow House a handsome wood frame (treated with eco-friendly preservatives) to go with your patio furniture. It’s a lot of greenhouse at a surprisingly affordable price.

  • Attractive place to start seeds and harden off plants
  • Sturdy, weather resistant materials
  • Add up to three watertight , sold separately

Comments about Patio Grow House:

Just wanted to update and say that all of the seeds I had put into the grow house are doing beautifully! We have basil, oregano, thyme, cucumbers and tomatoes there now, and all of the seeds have germinated and are doing really well! We've even had wildly fluctuating weather, from cool and rainy to 90 degrees and sunny, and now we're back to 50 degrees and rainy! But everything sprouted on time. It is the perfect solution for home gardeners who do not have the space, sunlight or equipment to start seeds in the house. We have the grow house where it gets uneven sunlight, so some of the seedlings are a little leggy, but rotating the trays solves that problem. I woulds definitely recommend this to someone else, and would buy it again if something happened to this one.

Comments about Patio Grow House:

Although it was fairly easy to assemble, the roof part did not fit snugly and I had to put foam strips on to make it close better, as there was quite a gap. Otherwise it is very nice.

Comments about Patio Grow House:

I did not have any broken/cracked pieces as others have had. However, the shipping packaging was NOT very cushioning, so I was surprised that nothing was broken. It was relatively easy to assemble, but it took two of us to put the doors on. The doors are not quite flush with the frame, but we placed the product directly on the ground, which is unlikely to be level. I am happy so far with everything and I will use it for vegetable/flower transplants.

Less sturdy than expected
By CA GardenerVerified Purchaser from Concord, CA on 3/1/2011
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Garden
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper

Comments about Patio Grow House:

Not as solidly built as I hoped. The doors don't close with the small wood block at the top (that isn't aligned with the doors).

Comments about Patio Grow House:

Make sure to read the directions all the way through before starting to assemble. Realized halfway through that I needed to go back and correct an earlier step to get everything to work properly.

Easy to put together and move
By Norhtern GardenerVerified Reviewer from Rockland, MI on 2/25/2011
Pros:
Easy To Store, Lightweight
Best Uses:
Deck, Garden, Patio

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Patio Grow House:

It went together so easily. The toggle to hold the doors is too short, so I'll replace it with a couple of hooks. Here, in the far north, with 3 feet of snow on the ground, it's too early to start using it, but it will be ideal on my deck to "grow-on" many of the seedlings I'm starting in the house. With our winds, I'll anchor it to the deck.

I've only had this a short time, but it is protecting patio plants from cold (in the 30's) nights very well. I plan to start seedlings in it soon.

Easy assembly, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Nice features
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Patio Grow House:

I have a small vegetable garden. Living in Zone 6 the season is too short to grow many peppers from seed. Can't wait to try this green house it is the prefect size for my needs and it has features found in larger greenhouses. Could use a latch for the doors (I plan to add this) [...] Some of the wood was cracked or broken but was still able to put it together.

Great little greenhouse

Pros:
Easy To Use
Best Uses:
Deck, Garden, Patio
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Patio Grow House:

It's the perfect size for starting seeds if you don't need/have room for a full size greenhouse (I'm in Norcal, so standing inside a house to keep myself out of the elements isn't really a necessity). My 10 year old son put it together with very little from me on a Saturday afternoon and it's definitely sturdy. Only thing I'd complain about is the lack of packaging protection. One of the shelves was damaged (I just put it at the bottom and you can't notice it) and one of the polycarbonate panels had come loose out of the front door and was a bit of a pain to put back. Otherwise, it's great and I can't wait to use it!
