It was great to harvest our own potatoes and share with our neighbors. Purchased two more for use in our small garden space.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I purchased these to free up space in my garden, which they do. But I was very disappointed in the potato crop. I mixed the soil I used in the pots & watered regularly. I noticed half way through the summer, salts from the water were collecting around the bottom of the pot. After the tops died back, I turned the pots over and discovered the bottom 1/2 of the soil to be rock solid and the potatoes tiny. I suspect the water played a large part in the crop failure. I think if you live in an area that receives reliable rainfall(I don't) you will be more successful than I was. I would not recommend this product to anyone living in dry areas.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
we will use the product next summer to grow potatoes
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used these with potting soil because my soil is hard and contaminated with salt spray. (The price of waterfront living.) Got over 8 lb of sweet potatoes/pot. Best ever -- sweet, tender, not pithy or stringy.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I can now grow potatoes without the rotting issues. This 'bin' drains well as well as creating the mounding conditions needed for potatoes. They are reusable for the next season, and store easily. The 'bins' are a little difficult to fill with soil, but doable.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used it to grow potatoes and harvested so many I started knocking on neighbors'doors to share with them. They all were delighted and the best comment was, "Thank goodness they're not zucchini."
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Did not get a high yield of potatoes. Maybe it was this summer or maybe i put too many tubers in it. we'll see next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Easy to harvest sweet potato without damage to root.
I am giving 2 to each of my kids for Christmas.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time trying the potato bins. With 2 bins, had amazing potato crop. Put on side of garden on top of mulch and able to save space in garden itself. Already bought 5 more for next spring.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I grew my very first potatoes and was wildly successful with a good harvest of white and yellow potatoes of good size! Loved this product. Could place it outside my backyard garden and not take up precious space.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Two bags of Yukon Gold and two bags of Kennebecs. 20 pounds of Yukon and 25 of Kennebecs. All perfect and good. Weeds - nil. Bugs and critters - nil. Bought two more to include Russets next year.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
These bins are a true wonder. They fold up small for storage, hold a lot of soil, drain like a pro and when the plants are done, rinse them off and store them for next year. I can't wait to bring them out again next year. These bins are not just for potatoes they can be used for tomatoes and even flowers. They might not be the most attractive idea but they work like a champ.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought two bins last season and arvested aout 20 pounds of potatoe. This product is so easy to use, I bought two more for next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This was easy to plant and also very easy to harvest. Just dump the soil out of the bin and sort your potatoes. I had low yields even though I watered well, continued to add soil and had them growing in full sun. I planted fingerlings but got nowhere near 13 pounds of potatoes harvested from these planters. Those I did harvest were of great quality though. I'll try again next year and use a different type of fertilizer to see if I can increase my harvest. The jury is still out on this one for me.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Potatoes did okay- I rather expected a larger harvest, but nothing did all that well this year... Will use bags again next season and may get more.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
We tried growing potatoes for the first time in these bags. It was the best investment due to the very rainy and cool summer we had. I did not have any bad potatoes in six bags. They are constructed well and will live to see another season, at least! I look forward to growing them again next year and may even stick them right next to the house. I highly recommend these bags!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I live in Denver, where the summers are usually hot and dry. This summer had a lot of rain, and was cooler. Being new to growing potatoes, I followed directions from multiple sources, and mounded as directed. However, it is apparent from my low yields (2 diff. potatoes) that I should have watered more, and ensured the soil stayed moist. Water loss/evaporation is considerable, so think about your watering patterns in considering this product. The plants grew well, and the potatoes are delicious. The plants actually grew so tall that staking would have helped prevent them from drooping over or getting tangled together. I am looking forward to next season, where I can correct these mistakes, maybe with carrots, too.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used these containers for growing potatoes. This was my first attempt at growing potatoes. I also planted some in the garden. I had much better results and lots more potatoes using the Potato Bin. I have ordered two more for next year's crop!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
things that aren't good about it
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We used four of these for growing potatoes on the driveway this year. Our yield was probably closer to 15 pounds total, but that was the fault of the weather and us being overzealous in a "new potato" harvest :(
One very nice thing about these is that you can adjust the depth of the soil - and the shade provided by the side of the pot quite easily, by simply folding the sides down the outside. To increase the depth for potatoes, fold up some more, add more dirt. Couldn't be simpler!
I'm buying more of these for next year to put husk cherries, artichokes, and other things that are growing just too big and shading everything in our square foot beds, so we can move them onto the driveway and deck and give them all the spreading room they need :)

Comments about Potato Bin®:
These pots are very easy to use. I planted LaRatte fingerling potatoes and German Butterball potatoes in mine this year, and I got about 20 pounds of potatoes out of four pots. That's not bad considering our area was suffering from the potato/tomato blight in the 2009 growing season. All I did was follow the instructions for potato planting that came with the pots and was successful in growing them.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
i am impressed, tryed potatoes 2nd time(1st time in the ground was a bust)they did great the white potatoes big enough for baked potatoes. smaller but still good yeild on the red. the only draw back is they may brack down after a few years of use. i'll just get more then.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought the Potatoe Bin and planted it with yellow potatoes and it has worked so well for me. I have it on my deck so I can get to it easily and I enjoy watching them grow. They were easy to plant and the just as easy to harvest. I had such good luck with it, I bought another so I can plant sweet potatoes in it and have two kinds going in an easy way. Before the potatoes took up so much space in the garden and now I am able to free up all that space and still have a bountiful harvest.
I would recommend it to everyone.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Although I don't grow a lot of veggies, this one intrigued me. I didn't get 13lbs of potatoes from mine, but we got several good-sized ones that tasted great. It was fun to have a small potato "bed" and nice that it folds up when everything has been harvested. Can you call several potatoes a harvest?? :)
Comments about Potato Bin®:
What a great idea for growing potatoes! I do square foot and container gardening and this product is a perfect addition to my container gardens.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It is very useful and easy to maintain and if I feel like moving it to a different location in the backyard. It is easy to lift and move without any strain.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
These produced such a fine crop of potatoes this year that I've already purchased more to have for next spring.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is a neat little product - especially for potatoes. I live in a very rocky area so digging down is not always a welcome gardening chore. This allows for easy planting, easy harvesting, and it is a neat (as in tidy) looking container.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I liked how it is flexible to fit in any spot. I put it at the end of my flower garden in a spot that nothing will grow and the potates actually have nice green leaves and some flowering! I did get 13 pounds of potatoes......All the neighbors thought it was cool......Gonna try sweet potatoes in it!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought this bin at the beginning of spring. It is easy to use and makes a beautiful green planter on my deck. I used red potatoes and they don't grow as well as the others. I was totally surprised that I had potatoes. You have to water the bin or you will end up with barbie doll potatoes. I can't wait until next spring.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It is nice to have flexibility on where to grow potatoes or other plants -- don't have to worry about existing ground conditions, or having to dig deep into the soil to harvest potatoes in the fall (taking the chance of damaging some of the potatoes). It is also a nice way to introduce children into fun of harvesting potatoes as they can easily sort through the soil for treasures once the bag is emptied.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The Potato Bin was very easy to use. Even though it is made of fabric, the sides were durable and stand up well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I put green beans (seeds) & potato plants in one bag; I put green beans & onion plants in one bag.
The beans are out growing the potatoes & onion.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is a great idea and product for growing potatoes! I dumped out my first bucket today and got the most beautiful, blemish free, healthy potatoes that I've ever grown. Many were huge, most were good sized, and a few were still small. I'll bet there's about 12 pounds of potatoes in each bin. When I grow potatoes in the dirt they always come out with disgusting scab or some other disease, even when I've planted in a new location. Because these plants were in clean fresh soil, they were perfect. I can't wait to see what's growing in the other 3 bins.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The plant grew wonderful, easy to use. Did not produce many potaotes and most opf them were a little larger than a pea.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used 4 of these to grow fingerling potatoes, and while the bins and potatoes looked good, the harvest was only so-so. I planted a pound and got 2 back, compared to the garden potatoes, which had a 5 fold increase. But I plan to use the pots to grow tomatoes, cukes and squash in the greenhouse this winter-despite the low potato yield which could very well reflect the heat in SC, the plants themselves were very healthy and daily watering wasn't an issue like it would be in normal pots.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We are in the later stages of the growing season and I just planted my bags (as a trial) and do not expect a harvest, but they are easy to use and light weight enough to move from one location to another. I will definately enjoy them next Spring.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I tried something different I followed the directions that came with the container. The potato plants are up and starting to flower so I guess you could say I am 75% there.
If this is how easy it is to grow potatoes in a container I am sold on the product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
i like the size, as once it is filled i can still move it. not too heavy
love your website, you have great well thought out products.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Allows flexibility in growing potatoes
Comments about Potato Bin®:
portable if put on, or "in" a tub used for mixing cement(that can be pushed, or pulled to
different locations(under tree, on patio, in garage in winter---under plant light)
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I think I coud have waited a litle longer to harvest. I was so excited to see what was in the bin, as soon a the foliage started to dry up, I waited about a week then dumped out the potatoes. I planted the organic seed potatoes and was so surprised! I got about 15 lb of multi colored spuds. Next year, more bins and more fun.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I'm a first time potato grower, I decided to grow some in these bins and some in raised beds. Both have done very well we have been harvesting new potatoes for about 2 weeks now. I would suggest when planting to fold sides down half way as they tend to fold over, once you start hilling this becomes less of a problem and you can put the sides back up. So far it has held up well I intend to reuse it next year
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I use the grow bags for potatoes, squash and melons where I would not be able to dig, or grow. Great!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I quickly needed a little more space for potato plants , but didn't want to till up a new spot for them. The above-ground mesh bags were easy to fill and plant with the potato sets and the plants are healthy and green. I haven't harvested the plants yet, but anticipate that it will will easy to dump out the soil and find the potatos.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
There's only the two of us so this gives the perfect sized potato patch.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Easy to use and happy with being able to grow items wherever I want.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
we are using the bag to grow the seed potatoes we also ordered from gardeners supply. so far they are growing well. we're hoping for a good harvest. ive never been dissappointed with any of the products from gardeners supply.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We're new to potato growing, and didn't realize what a chore it can be to track down all the potatoes under the soil. Our next crop will be a whiz to harvest!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Great way to grow potatoes--keeps them confined, and easy to harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It performed like a mini portable raised bed.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is a great idea for growing potatoes. They take up little space and easy to care for. I have'nt had a harvest yet but the plants look very healthy. It would be nice to have some type of frame to keep the sides up. I did have to put chicken wire over the tops in the beginning because of pesky squirles and I did stick some bamboo poles on the sides to keep the material up until all the mounding was complete. I'm looking forward to the fall harvest!!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
growing potatoes in grow bags. The plants are large and healthy. I can't wait to see how many potatoes are in the bag.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I've used these for bushes that had to be moved temporarily and they were great. They're big enough to hold a good root ball for smaller bushes, and did well as growing containers for several months.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have potatoes growing now in the containers on the driveway. The containers work great.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Really easy to plant. I have it next to my vegetable bed and it is growing my potatoes very well. An addition that I plan to use in the coming years and will order another one to add growing space for next year!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used it in my small behind the garage vegetable garden. Doesn't take up much space but looks like I'll get a good crop of potatoes.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Pots are easy to fill and plant.
Potatoes have gone crazy.
Stays moist in my dry climate.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
after trying two of these out last year with much success, i purchased two more this year. i hope we get a decent crop of potatoes! the only downside is that the neighbors ask what they are, and then tell me they want some potatoes!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Great for taters and other plants I am sure
Comments about Potato Bin®:
great idea- easily packs away. However, I have used it for two growing seasons now my potatos have grow right out of the bin.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
A very useful container for potatos
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I tried these potato bins this year as a way to avoid digging a trench to plant my potatoes. I was attracted by the high yields in the advertising and the ease of harvest - no digging - just dump out the basket. It is too early to tell about the yield. However, the pots keep drying out, stressing my plants. I have to water them every two days (temps low 90's). When it gets really hot (100's) I will need to water daily.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I had read all of the reviews on this product before buying. I must say, with all the good reviews I was even more impressed when I received them and started working with them. I am using them for growing potatoes. They drain well but hold enough moisture to keep things more damp than a clay pot. I have recommended them to all of my fellow gardeners. I love the fact that when the season is done, I can fold them up and save them for next year. My potatoes are going gangbusters so far. We'll see how they work out over the entire season, but I am very hopeful.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Wife and I bought 4 of these and are growing Sweet potatos in 2 and New (Red) potatos in the other 2. I can honestly say tha t I'm suprised how well they're doing. I would say they're doing twice as well as the plants we put in the ground last year. Being able to move them around to chase sunlight helps as we don't have the best yard for a garden, but we try. I would recommend anyone give these a shot if they're thinking about them. Easy to use and a good value.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Easy to use. No need to dig. Bought a second one after the potatoes grew so quickly with the first one.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Last year I grew potatoes in mounds in my vegetable garden. The growth doesn't compare to this year's growth in the potato bins -- the plants are huge! I'm looking forward to a great harvest later this year, if the top growth is anything to go by.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The bag is a little flimsy when you get started. I
think it will work great & make growing potatoes easier.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Trying out the potato bin to harvest my first crop of potatoes.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my first attempt at growing potatoes, and thought this potato bin (really a bag), would be perfect. We've had alot of rain this Spring, and the potato plants love it. The bag drains very well with no mess on my patio. The potato plants are so tall and full already, that I hope to get alot of potatoes from them.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Love the large capacity of this planter. I have two -- one for potatoes and the second for basil, and both appear to be thriving, though I've not harvested any potatoes yet. My only concern is that I like to have on my deck so the rabbits and deer can't get at the greens, but I'm afraid I'll rot the wood of the deck with the drainage so have to move it every couple of days.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
At first I thought it was an ugly black bag, but it's very durable, compact for storage and I am loving watching the potatoes grow!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Wonderful way to keep gardening alive for the disabled gardener. Easy to use. Also, works great for people living in apartments, like my son, who loves to garden.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought a half dozen of these and planted potatoes and carrots in them. Though they need to be watered on a daily basis (this is the down side of the 'drains easily' equation) they are a convenient way to raise root crops in an area like mine where the soil is shallow and rocky.
When set in amongst other taller plants, not only do they blend in nicely (the black disappears), but shade on the planters seems to reduce water loss.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
What a space saver! I was able to grow potato plants in a small area against my garage, that normally is empty, Instead of taking up large amounts of garden space. The plants shot up as soon as the sun shone.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Our potatoes seem to like the Bin they're in and are growing quite well. Can't wait to see how much potatoes are actually in there.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am just trying this product for the first time this year. I am excited for the results.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Just getting started. Have a new house that was a field. Tips and gardening magazine was very helpful. Potato bag was easy to use.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This product makes potato gardening so easy! The planting instructions that came with this product are great for maximizing the growth of the plants. Drains well and looks great on my deck!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Small area for gardening, using raised beds, wanted to try potatoes, the bags allowed better use of space and more room for other stuff in my raised beds! Potatoes are growing great, can't wait for the harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is the first year for using the bin and for planting potatoes. I couldn't beleive how fast the organic seed potatoes sprouted and how great the bin has worked so far. The sides tend to be a bit flimsy, but as the potatoe plants grow and you fill in with more potting soil and peat moss, the bin sides "sturdy up" and stay straight. My husband was skeptical when I first put it in the garden, but now sees the success of it. Will purchase a few more and try growing other vegetables in them!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Storable and movable. That is good.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
A quick and efficient way to grow potatoes. Easy to use; economical to water; compact and easy to move.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I was surprised on how easy it was to grow potatoes in the bin. I brag to my friends and advise them to purchase the potato bins.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought 2 of these for potatoes and they are exactly what the picture and description said it'd be. Hopefully I do get a 13 pound harvest! While other reviews said that these are nothing but a bag - I guess they are. But they are durable, reusable, and they drain well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
good product
Comments about Potato Bin®:
My vegetable garden is having a slow start this year due to the rains and limited sun from cloudy days...the exception is the potatoes I'm growing in the potato bins. They are the star of the garden. I've already added soil twice and the plants are over the tops of the bins after less than 6 weeks from planting. I've tried adding soil to potatoes grown in raised beds and you can only go so far. The bins allow you to do this easily. I'll never grow potatoes in ground again.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Too early in season to tell how well this works, but so far I am very pleased with the bags and I think I will have good success with the crop.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is a great idea for homeowners with limited planting space or if you want to grow potatoes on a deck. Mesh design means easy to clean & store for the winter season.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my second year using the Potato Bins. I bought 10 last year and 15 this year. I'm extending their use to other garden plants that we've had difficulty growing in our "walnut tree" soil. I can't wait to dig through the bins and harvest all of our potatos. Thanks for stocking this product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time user but so far potatoes are growing great.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
useful product for people who want to grow vegetables with little space or hard ground
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am using this bin for extra potatoe plants. So far, it has been great. It is easy to set up and fill and can be placed anywhere in the garden. I am looking forward to easily harvesting potatoes, especially for my grandchildren who love to dig down and pluck out potatoes for dinner.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I put my new potato bins on the edge of my regular garden. I've grown potatoes before but because of increasing all my other crops I lacked space. I got these bins a bit late for this area, but got Yukon Gold seed potatoes and put compost in the bottom. As the potatoes are growing I mix compost with potting soil. They are about at the top now, and I'm pretty excited to see what I get. Thanks.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I just started using the Potato bin and I love it. It is light weight, can go anywhere, will hold 4-5 potato plants, it seems terrific, I will let you know more once the potatoes are grown.
My only concern is, based on the instructions, you start with only 1/3 full of dirt and for my location, that makes it hard to get the sun because of the high sides blocking the sunlight. What I should have done is roll them down to better let the light onto the new potatoes. I would suggest including that in the instructions. Otherwise, I am loving it!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The potato bin is a versatile product that is giving me the opportunity to grow something new and different in my urban garden....I can't wait to harvest my potatos this fall!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am a new veg.gardener, I have always been a city girl and never new how to grow anything, my husband always wanted me to try growing potatoes but I had no clue, so when I say the potato bins in your catalog I thought I would give it a try, so far so good, they are growing great in there, it is to early to get my first harvast but I am sure it will do great it has been growing good.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far, so good. I wanted to try these bins since last year I lost so many potaotes trying to dig them up. Unfortunately, I would put the shovel into the potato and split it. I planted 2 of these bins this year and can't wait to see if they are as easy as I think they will be when its time to harvest. But the plants are growing well and even though we have had lots of rain, no mold is growing on the pots.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used these containers to try growing potatoes for the first time. I found them to be easy to use and had great directions and great information on the company web site specific to growing potatoes. My potatoes have taken off in these pots and are growing quickly. I am excited to see how many I harvest this fall.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time potato grower - followed the EZ instructions about 6 weeks ago and the plants are already 2+ feet tall and starting to flower. Plan on getting more bins next year to expand my small garden - will try growing eggplant, beets, tomatoes next. Great product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is the second year I have purchase three bags giving me a total of six in use this year. This is my third year growing potatoes. Year one was in a raised garden, year two was split between three bags and a raised garden and now year three all in six bags, I am still experimenting with soil mixtures. I would like to know what you used to get the yieds that are advertised with the potato bags in your catelogs. I also would like you to carry a fertilizer recommended for potatoes.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time to grow in these pots. I may have planted one pot with too many potato seeds, second one maybe with not enough
Time will tell...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The bins are very easy to set up and plant. My seed potatoes have sprouted and I am building the level of soil frequently. I am anxious to see the harvest to see if I have done things correctly.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Filled it with planting mix and then planted carrot seeds. We got perfect carrots since they did not have to compete with the many rocks in our soil and they were SO easy to harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I just planted my potatoes in and they are sprouting nicely.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have planted potato in the bin. I do not know yet how well it will work.
The bag (bin) in shorter than I anticipated
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have recently purchased a number of prodcuts from you. The quality of the products are excellent[...] I've enjoyed putting everything together, planting, and now seeing the fruits of my efforts along with the help of your products. THANK YOU!!! I especially love the grow bed which fits perfectly in my very small landscape ... it's A perfect fit. The potato bins are an excellent idea. I have potatoes in 2 and flower aray in 2 others on deck and patio.[...] I will be purchaing from you again and I've shared your products catalog and website address with family and friends.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I love this product. This is my first year using it. The plants are doing great! I can't wait for the potatoes.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Still early but my 5 potatoes are sprouting and doing really well - looking forward to a great harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I planted my potatoes in it this year. The plants are the largest and prettiest ones in my garden. I hope come fall I will have nice potatoes under those beautiful plants.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The plants are very happy. I can't wait to see the harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
by using these bins I don't have to crowd my vegetable beds and I can place them where ever I want to: in the sun or shade. I plan to grow other vegetables in them next season, like cucumbers and zucchini (in the sun) and salad and spinach in light shade. They are VERY convenient and storage is minimal.
Thank you, I love them.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I've never grown potatoes before. The potato bag looked easy and has good drainage, important for potatoes. It fit into a small space. My little potato plants are growing nicely. No potatoes to eat yet, but I expect they will mature nicely.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It's early in the season but when you first plant the potatoes the sides can fold in but I'm expecting as the potatoes grow and I add dirt they will stay straight-
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far it's easy, quick and clean. Space saving in your garden and looks like it will be quick clean up.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I do all my gardening in "tubs", plastic tubs because I can't bend down to do the things needed. I am 71 and have had 16 surgeries in the past 10 years--mostly on my back. The potato bin is wonderful because it is lightweight and I can use it without having someone help me.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used it mostly for growing potatoes. The only problem with it was that I needed someone help when it came to filling it up with soil. I needed
someone to hold it opened while I put the soil in
it. Otherwise I like that it can fit in a small
space.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Bought these to grow veggies in areas where a huge tree stump and roots prevent digging in the ground. So far, these are amazing. Seeds germinated quickly and crops of squash and bush beans are growing well. Seems to hold moisture well even in the heat of Texas. Finally, the advert that they can be moved is true - switched location, watered them back down and they moved without any shock at all. Will be interesting to see how they weather in fall and our light winters and how the fabric/stitching holds up over time. Great for the small veggie gardener!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
the potato bins are great. we are using them to grow 12 kinds of potatos and i'm amazed and excited about the growth i'm seeing. my husband is so impressed he wants to get more for next yr so we can grow all our vegetables in them!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I like the bins but I worry if they are large enough to hold the potatoes that are growing in the soil. The plants are growing nicely and I'm hoping to have less worms because the bins are more contained.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I grow sweet potatoes in them. They were easy to get set up and plant, easy to water without overwatering, and hopefully will produce a good harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The potato bags' pliable shape and durability are its best features, allowing them to be placed on uneven, untilled ground in our terraced garden. These bags work better than other containers, allowing more connection with the earth. They resemble burlap but are resistant to rotting. Our potato plants are young, strong and above the ground to make harvesting easier and more predictable.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Okay, love the bins. Not sure what is actually going on inside but the potatoes are growing well and are a nice green and leafy. I'm waiting until it blooms because evidently that is when I harvest. The directions for the potatoes weren't great (like the asparagus). I needed to do a lot of on-line searching to supplement but I guess it worked. Let's hope the harvest is good!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my first time using the potato bins and we were able to place them a small location and still plan to yield about 20-25 lbs of potatos with ease. There was no work to setting them up and will be able to reuse them next year. We actually plan to try for a second harvest this fall, once the leaves die back on crop in now. I do not see a down fall with this product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Very easy to movefor maximum sunlight.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my first attempt at growing potatoes. This has been a cool spring, but I've finally seen some green in the bins. It's still a little early to tell, but I'm confident I will be harvesting potatoes later this season. I especially like the garden space-saving quality of the bag design.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am so excited to grow potatoes above ground! this is awesome!

I have two different locations. One in a solar greenhouse at school and one outside. The extra heat and care in the greenhouse produced faster.
It could use handles to move it about with.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Pretty simple to use.Open it, fill with dirt, and plant potatos. Potatos are growing well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time user; we wanted to grow lots of potatoes in a small space using the "fill 'er up" method", & so far these bagas are perfect. Our potatoes are up and we've started filling in around the stems with dirt... No fuss, no mess, they've withstood some Baaaaad weather and still look new, and drain well...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used the bag to plant potatoes in. It's too soon to tell but so far it's doing its job of providing a home for potatoes. My concern so far is the same as other reviewers - the sides fall in when the bags are first planted. My solution is to place 3 bages together in a group and use a clothespin to clip the middle walls together. This keeps the sides up until you can fill the bags with more dirt. The plus side of having walls that fall in is that I can fold the walls down myself to protect young plants against frost or a cold night. They are heavy to move so plan ahead and place them where they will stay over the season.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I purchased some "Elba" seed potatoes with my Grow Bin. Filled the Grow Bin from soil in my raised bed vegetable garden. Planted 5 pieces of seed potato in the Grow Bin and the remaining 7 pieces in my raised bed garden. The Grow Bin is growing much more rapidly than the others. (apparently the shallow soil depth keeps them warmer and growing faster). Foliage is healthy and robust! The Grow Bin is super easy to move, when either more sun or shade is needed. Outer fabric of bag shows depth of moisture, making the decision of when to add water very simple. Instructions very easy to follow. I really, really like this product a lot!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Our soil is mostly sand, so it compacts too tight for growing potatoes. My plants are already up and look really healthy. I plan on trying carrots in one of the bags since I ordered 8 and planted potatoes in six of them. I also bought my seed potatoes from Gardener's. Thanks for a great solution!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I purchased the potato bag for the first time last year and was pleased with my potato yield. Only drawback is the bag needs some type of handles.

Plant potatoes
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It is very portable, seems to have a great capacity to grow the potatoes. The color is good too, it seems to disappear to the backround.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We bought four of these for potatoes this spring. Last year we had 2 pots and one green recycle bin. These are cost-effective, and being able to roll the sides down means that the soil (and shoots) got a lot more sun in their early days than those of the potatoes in the taller pots. The potatoes are doing unbelievably well, and it seems like they're holding just the right amount of moisture.
On the flip side, I don't think I could move them now that they're half full - I feel like the fabric might tear. Luckily, I'm happy with where they are. I did move them once after filling them with about 6 inches of soil/compost and putting in the seed potatoes, and other than being heavy, it wasn't any harder than wrangling the big plastic pot. They didn't look all that hot when I first filled them, but now you can't even SEE the bins, the potatoes are so luxuriant. The potatoes in the pot are doing just as well, though.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Love this concept, and it appears to be working well so far!
I've seen other potato containers that are taller, so wondering if we could have gotten a bigger yeild if we went another route. This is my first season growing potatoes though, so we are excited about the process.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
My potatoes look just like the catalog photo. I can't wait until harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Though this bin is not exactly attractive- it really does the job. Its flexible so you can roll the edges down while your potatoes are just getting started and keep rolling the sides up as you add more soil. It allows you to keep the green tops in the sun instead of sitting at the bottom of a dark pot.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I planted fingerling potatoes in this "bin". These hold lots of soil and I'm looking forward to a big crop!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
To solve the floppy sides while filling issue, I place an upside down large tomato cage in the bottom. Once there is enough soil, I remove the cage and place 4 bamboo stakes around the sides to hold it open during the filling process.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Now I can grow potatoes without taking up space in my vegetable garden. These retain moisture but also allow for air transfer so no mold or rot.
But be advised once you fill them they are heavy.
So fill them where you plan on placing them.
Great product, can't wait for harvest time...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am very pleased at how easy it is to grow potatoes on a patio. I put the bin on a wheeled platform which allows me to move the bin around if necessary.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I didn't realize that, in order for the bag to stand up properly, one has to fold the top edge down. I realized this when I looked at the picture again.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I planted my first crop of potatoes in the ground and because of the wet weather we've had, they all rotted. I saw this in your catelog and decided to try it. So far, so good.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I got two of these, and put them next to our veggie garden. They have a great capacity, yet are nicely unobtrusive in our small yard. The material is great for draining. They fold completely flat when empty so winter storage will be simple. I'm looking forward to harvesting our own potatoes this year!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Great for melons also.....let the vines trail over top..
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Just starting to pop through the ground. Have great anticipation.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We wanted a more "finished" look. So we put the bin in a half wine barrel. It looks great and the potatoes are growing quickly.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far the potatoes, sweet and regular, are growing nicely. Anxious for the end of the season to see what/how much it produces. Thanks for the product!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We bought these to try growing potatoes and I think these are fantastic. We followed the simple directions and everything is growing so well. We will be adding a few more next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am using the bin to grow fingerling potatoes for the first time. It's easy to plant, almost weed-free and conserves water.
The only negative factor is that the bin is very flexible and does not retain a round shape (collapses a bit at the sides) but that's not serious. It does restrict growing space a bit, however.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
These bags seem to be holding up, but it was initially a pain to fill them...they kept folding in on themselves. We'll see how they work but so far so good...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Much more attractive than the trash cans I was previously growing potatoes in. The compact size is perfect for my small yard.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
takes up a small amount of space
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Because my garden has heavy soil, potatoes and root veggies have mixed results. This is a good size, inexpensive, easy to move, and gives great results. Because it also drains well, I plan to use it for root vegetables (radishes, carrots, etc.) to get a head start on spring next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
i am pleasently pleased with them, and i have a lovely crop of new potatoes growing well
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Still new into the season, but these are a great idea for my area. No need to work the hard clay soil, just plant the potatoes in loose soil, continue to fill, and watch the plants grow. Plants are doing well thusfar, but won't know the yield for months. I would never have tried potatoes without this.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
i use it for potato now next year i'll get some more for flowers-they really are pretty cool
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far so good. The only problem I have had with the potatoe bin was finding seed potatoes to grow inside... My city yard is very small and I only have enough room for 2 of these bins. The smallest quantity of seeds potatoes I could find were 5 pound packages. Not sure I would have tried this if I had known I would not be able to buy just 4-5 seed potatoes. But it's fun to watch the plants peaking out of the soil and I am looking forward to the growing and harvesting experience. If the potatoes don't work this summer I might try my tomato plants in them next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This product is so easy to use and it is very neat in appearance. Granted it's only June and I haven't reaped the harvest yet but will keep you all posted.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am using these for potatoes and broccoli- they take up too much space otherwise and the animals get in them. I can easily lift these up on a potting bench or leave on a balcony and they have weathered rainstorms nicely. Hoping they will hold up for more years use -- they seem durable enough! I was able to put 6 seed potatoes in each one...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We use this product for our potatoes. We planted sweet potatoes, Yukon Golds and Red potatoes in these bins and have had great success so far with the starts growing really well. The bins hold up to the rain in our Pacific NW climate and am looking forward to using them again next year after we harvest this years crops.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have limited gardening space, so these bins actually let me do "container gardening" at it's best! Purchased several and placed in areas around my backyard.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I wanted to be able to grow some potatoes on the patio. These are not so attractive, but very functional. The potatoes are still just getting started, but I think this will be a good solution.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Have not harvested yet, but they seem to be holding up well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is the first year using the potato bin, but I am already planning for the many plants that I will be putting in them next year. These bins save space, offer planting alternatives to all types of gardeners, whether you have limited space for a garden or plant a large garden. I can use it in my flowers beds as well. Gardener's Supply has not let its consumer down on this product!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Works great. Space saver in tight quarters. Easy to use and easy directions. Already recommended to others and they have purchased already. Great product. I have never had a bad experience with you.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The Potato Bin's I purchased are fantastic! I can't believe how fast my potatoes have grown.
The instructions are very easy to follow.
I also love the fact that you can grow anything you want. I bought 4 bins. I have potatoes in 3 bins and the other I have zucchini.
I highly recommend this product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have been using these for about 6 weeks. Very easy to fill with soil. Sides, though soft, stay upright while filling. Plants seem very happy. Have 1 planted with potatoes. The other is planted with apple tree and strawberries. Only complaint is Gardener's Supply price is higher than[...]
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Convenient to use and the instructions were very helpful.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is great for growing pottoes and all kinds of vegetables. I will continue to buy this product again and again.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Almost any veggie has worked in this.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
For potatoes, you can plant in 5-6" of soil and fold the bin sides down to allow sun exposure. As the plants grow, they can be hilled right in the bin and the sides can be raised as needed.

The potato bags are just as they are described on the website...and the ease of use is just what I need! I am a beginning gardener, starting with raised beds and potato bags. I just got these planted and within a couple of days, the plants were emerging. Can't wait to see what kind of yield I get!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my first time using this product or having a garden period. So far so good. To soon for any real Pros or Cons. I planted potato seeds and they have started to grow nicely. I placed my Potato Bins on a pallet (for better drainage and to make it easier for me to get to).

My potato plants are thriving! I love the planters.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought 2 of these for my kids to give a try at gardening. This is an easy product to use & the potato plants are growing wonderfully in them! Great buy.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far, so good. I am just getting my potatoes started and they are growing well. I had to add netting over the top to deter squirrels from digging. Otherwise, very easy to set up.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We already owned three bins...and just bought four more. This is a great way to grow potatoes in stubborn areas of the garden. We just tuck a few into areas that don't grow anything well, and wind up with pounds of potatoes.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I started my potatoes a few weeks ago and they look great. The directions that came with the potato bin are very straight forward. I started carrots from seed in my other potato bin. I have never used a flexible planter before - I am an avid gardener and have raised garden beds. I thought I would try a flexible planter and am very pleased with it so far. This would be a great product for a patio gardener or someone with limited space. It is very sturdy, yet flexible; it is easy to keep watered and was very easy to set up.
Big Thumbs Up.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I haven't done much with it yet because it is just time for most of the planting. Plan to do this week unless it rains all week. I'm between a beginner and an avid gardener. Just like to grow vegetables to help teach grandchildren where their food comes from and the satisfaction of being able to produce some of their own.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I tried to grow potatoes in Southern CA but never had any luck. So far the potato plants are doing great and I expect a good crop this year.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
We live in a mobile home park with a small yard. This great product enables us to grow potatoes in a very small area. I also like the item because I can fold it up and pack it away for the next season. Thank you again.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First year of using this product so I cannot comment on the harvest but our potatoes are growing nicely. They will be very convenient for unearthing the crop and seem to provide appropriate drainage as the bags are porous and breathable.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Got two of these, trying one with potatoes and the other with tomatoes. So far no complaints, both pots are doing well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
My two friends both think they have the better way to grow their potatoes, we are having a race to harvest. My potatoes are all ready twice the size of theirs put together!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
we tried the potato bag last year, were so pleasantly surprised by it's ease of set up, care and productivity we not only ordered another for this year, but also for another avid gardener.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This product is so easy to use anyone could do it. Using it for flowering potatoes and so far it looks great and they are growing like crazy. It is heavy when filled so you want to put it where it will stay when you fill it.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Much easier than the usual method of digging to plant potatoes. Also, can plant in the same area each year by changing the soil in the container.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have planted the potatoes as instructed and everything is going great.I will report again when the plants are done growing and the harvest is finished.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Potatoes plant are growing very well. First use and I can not find a similar product locally.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME USING THE POTATO BIN AND I CAN SAY THAT I'M VERY HAPPY. I PURCHASED 2 BINS, ONE FOR SWEET POTATOES AND THE OTHER FOR WHITE POTATOES AND BOTH ARE DOING VERY WELL. Comments about Potato Bin®:
This was an exceptionally easy way to plant my potatoes. The instructions were well written and illustrated making them easy to understand. I am anxiously anticipating the fall crop!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I use it for my potatoes, but until you add more dirt after the first sprouting, the sides won't stand up well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
My firat time to grow potato. The bin is great and I still need to see how the potato will be. I believe it will be good. Recommended by one of the staff.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Planted seed potatos last week. I like the large capacity. Soils stays moist but bag has good drainage. I have grown potatos in mounds in the ground and in hollowed-out hay bales but I think these bins will be my method of choice in the future.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
What a great way to start our school garden!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I liked that the two bins were light weight but had good soil and plant capacity. This is my first year growing potatoes but if I'm successful I'll buy more potato bins next year and grow tomatoes in them.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It's a great idea for anyone who may not have the room to plant a row of spuds. It keeps them contained and can be put where you want it. I guess that you could also do radishes or carrots, anything that needs a looser soil, great for people short on space.
I wish that it were a little bit deeper,it would be more versatile that way and it's a bit flimsy, don't know if I'll get more than one season of use. But I really wanted sweet potato again and this gave me a great way to do it without loosing too much garden space.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Just got them this year and i can probably give a better evaluation later in the season. The potatoes are just coming up now (5/21/09). I'm curious to see how much I have to water them. Get back with me if you want a better evaluation.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I can grow pounds of various potatoes in an inexpensive and space saving manner. Being limited on space it is invaluable to produce vegetables that my family can eat and that can be canned for future use.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I am growing tomatoes and peppers in these bins and cannot believe how beautifully they are doing . I'm so happy ! I can actually grow vegetables now .
Comments about Potato Bin®:
It is a little early to give this product a rating. It forms well when dirt is added and holds it's shape. I haven't had the product long enough to know if there are in drawbacks. So far I am pleased with the design and usage.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have 2 potato bins in the backyard. Since I was instructed to only fill the bins 1/3 full with soil until I see some potato leaves growing, the sun is not getting to all of the soil. I am sure that when I put more soil in the bins (once the potato leaves start growing taller) I will not have this issue. I am very very pleased with my purchase. Great price too!

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I'm just at the beginning of this. We're trying to grow potatoes on our back deck, where we have grown tomatoes and beans in the past. Our goal, especially once we get a rain barrel established on the deck, is to have our own little urban garden. We live deep in the City, so I feel like we're making a difference in air quality and reducing transportation costs for veggies.
We've been very pleased so far, but will know in a couple of months how well it work. However, these bags were HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to us by other gardeners. None of them used the bags on decks, however.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I really thought it would be difficult to grow potatoes. Uh, not so much. It's SUPER SUPER easy! This barrel is fantastic, too. I have it out on my deck so that it can get some sun. The potatoes went CRAZY. They love it in the barrel. You have to try this.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
This product is simple to use and has my potato plants off to a good start! I have limited gardening bed space, so these containers were a great solution to try potatoes. It's too soon in the season to know what the final outcome will be, but I am very happy with these simple containers!

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought these bins for a first-time potato attempt, but have considered trying beets, too. My regular soil is horrible for roots veggies. It's still the beginning of the season, so I can't comment on final outcome, but the bins came nicely folded (so I anticipate easy storage at season's end) and seem sturdy--no fears of immediate tearing of either fabric or seams. Porous enough to manage water, easy to move around. I appreciated the instructions and tips that were included. I worry a bit about shading when the soil levels are low inside the bins, but I still have high hopes for this product!

I have been gardening for over 20 years and I am growing potatoes for the first time. I have planted potatoes in my garden plot and some in the potatoe bins. The potatoe bins are much easier to keep the potatoe plants covered as they are growing.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Per the suggestions on the website, I purchased three of these bags to hold an average of four potato starts each. So far so good. They are a very good, inexpensive alternative to the plastic and terra cotta pots that I was using. They seem to drain much better than the above and so far have upheld well. We will see if I get my potatoes!

I am using this to grow potatoes for the first time. So far I am very impressed. The bags are lightweight and easy to move around. I am looking forward to my first crop!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Seems to be working well. I have potatoes growing, hoping to have a good harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Growing my first crop of potatoes and cannot wait for harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have not grown potatoes before because of our very heavy clay soil, so this will be my first attempt. But it doesn't seem like it could be any easier than using the potato bins. My plants are already sprouting and growing like crazy - I can't wait to have potatoes in the fall. I wouldn't mind the bins even larger for an even bigger yield!!!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I like the fact that I can change my potato bins around to fit in between my raised beds each year depending on my configuration or if I have added beds, etc. They store and clean very nicely.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The Potato Bins are easy to use, and keep up. They are easy to water. Self-contained potato's are a blast to grow. This is my first time with these bins and I am very satisfied.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Too early in the season to know how well potatoes will crop in these pots. Easy set up. The sides of the pot tend to fall inwards but folding back and forming a cuff seems to fix it. Tubers planted in the center grow much faster than than at the side which makes for difficulty when it comes time to earth up. The central plants then shade the sides and slow growth further. There is very little difference in temperature from side to center. I put this problem down to difference in light levels. Drainage is as least as good as a rigid side draining pot and growth is faster than in a similarly sized rigid pot.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
this bin holds everything in one place. adding soil is easy as it is growing.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The potato bin is for more than just growing potatoes! I have three different types of plants (eggplant, zuchinni and cucumbers) and they are all thriving. The potato bins are easy to use and even move from one spot to another in the yard. I am planning to buy more potato bins...maybe this time I'll even plant potatoes!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I will be using this product to growt potatoes and other vegetables in my garden

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I'm using it for potatoes for the first time this year. So far so good. The Smart-Pot's are easy to use, quick to setup and allow for flexible placement in your yard/garden.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have only had the product a few weeks. It is made of sturdy fabric that appears would last many seasons. Nice and porous, looks like you could grow other plants in the bags too. Potatoes are growing nicely, but will know the harvest yield more by the end of the fall.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I love this product, I would buy this again for sure, I would love to have some more of them for other plants.A friend of mine was asking about it yesterday.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This takes the need for hilling constantly out of the potato growing equation. Bags are substantial yet let water drain freely.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I've only been using my Potato Bin for three weeks, but already my potato plants are growing well. And the design is very easy to incorporate into my garden.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
My Potato seeds are growing great. Will get more next year.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is able to grow potatoes without effort. I am definately going to try other plants as I ammend my soil from clay in these early years. These bags allow you to use space and forget weeding or the hard digging in super hot late summer days.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The potato bin is a great space saver for growing potatoes. There is no need to dig trenches and the potatoes will be much easier to harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
homegrown spuds, yummy. To save garden space I placed my "spud buckets" (that's what I call them) up on bales of straw on top of a weed bed. So far it has worked better than I expected. Have not yet harvested, but I hope for lbs. of fresh, homegrown, yummy, spuds.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
On a dolly, it is easy to wheel in and out of the sun or rain (when you are having a prolonged 2 week period of rain). I have only tried the potato bin this season, and so far all of the potatoes are growing well.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I've got 3 of these with 3 different kinds of potatoes. They are doing great so far!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I like that I will be able to simply empty the bag rather than dig up potatoes and miss a few. I will know more at the end of the season.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We purchased two of these and look forward to buying more. they are surprisingly deep and high. You could literally make a fence of potatoes if you wanted. I am very pleased with the quality of the product.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
They really work great for planting potatoes in a small space. The potatoes grew rapidly and well. Haven't harvested yet but hope to have new potatoes soon!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
very easy to use, love that it drains excess water efficiently.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We live in zone 5 and clay soil. The fabric pot is great and very easy to maintain. We have potatoes and and other vegetables growing in these pots after three weeks.
Thanks
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I planted four seed potatoes in each of my 3 bags, and they are all growing beautifully and have not a bug, bite, or blemish one. I thought the "gradual" filling of the bins as the stems grow up would, well, be gradual and take more time. I am pleased to report that in about a month, one bag has soil to the top, and the others are very close behind. They drain beautifully, never too wet. I would recommend placing them in their final spot for the season before they are full to the top due to the large size of the bin. However, even still if you had to move them once full (I did), it can still be done by yourself. No digging, reusable, and detailed instructions a child could follow; it just couldn't be any easier.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is the second set of potato bags I have purchased from gardeners.com and decided to increase my veggie garden and the bags made it possible! The potatoes and sweet potatoes are just fabulous grown in these bags! Highly recommended!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The Potato Bin has been the most versatile item for gardening I have ever seen. I have been able to manipulate its shape to an oddly shaped section of flower bed to put in my cantalope and yet still maintain its integrity. AWESOME!!

It's a great space saver! I never thought I would be able to grow potatoes because I didn't have the space, but you can put a potato bin almost anywhere! I haven't harvested yet, but so far things are growing great!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
They may be ugly, but the material is strong and they make it possible to raise potatoes in a limited space. I'm looking forward to new potatoes and peas soon.
Comments about Potato Bin®:

I planted potatoes in the bins and set them in a spot adjacent to my vegetable garden. Since my vegetable garden is small, the potato bins took no additional garden space.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
These will be very helpful come harvest time. Not more digging
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I just planted potatoes in these bags - I really won't know how well they do until the fall - so far they seem to be good
Comments about Potato Bin®:
If this works as advertised, it'll be a terrific and frugal addition to those of us who prefer container gardening.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This seems to be doing really well for me so far, but it's so big and takes so much soil that I had to go to a gardening center and buy dirt-- and will likely have to do so again next year. But my potatoes seem to be doing really well! Can't wait to start harvesting what looks like it'll be a huge crop.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Hope it works as well as advertised. Would be an easy way to grow potatoes.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Will grow potatoes and squash on the deck in the potato bins. We live at 7000 ft with late frost and deer and moose that browse on my potato and squash leaves. The deck heat allows me to extend our season and keeps the criters out.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I like that this is very light weight and yet appears very durable. Time will tell. I'm using this to plant potatoes. Its not very attractive, but I put it behind some other plants. If it works well, I will buy more next year.

Comments about Potato Bin®:
I bought this because it looks like a terrific way to grow potatoes, easy to plant and easy to harvest.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is exactly what I wanted years ago when I was growing potatoes. No more wooden boxes to construct/deconstruct.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I love these potato bins. What a great invention- I know I will use them for years to come. Thanks for all the great products and advice your company supplies- I have never been disappointed with a purchase I have made from Gardeners Supply.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
easy to use right out of the box
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I await final judgement until I harvest the potatoes. However, it is easy to move and attend to.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I used the 4 bins that I bought to put potatoes in - never have had luck with planting them in a raised bed, etc. Easy to fill, move, etc. Overall a terrific product. Hoping that they will be re-usuable next year as stated.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
like how it works, hope the spuds like it too
Comments about Potato Bin®:
First time growing potatoes -directions for use very easy to follow
Comments about Potato Bin®:
So far potatoes sprouting. Like the lightweight bags. Seem to drain well. I live with high humidity and it appears there may be some mildew starting to form on outside of the pot.

This was a little taller than I expected and not attractive (just looks like a big black sack). It does have large capacity, however, and a reasonable price.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Product is made of a material that is substantial and easy to work with. I have planted potatoes in one and pumpkin seeds in another. I was happily surprised by the durability of the product and will be ordering more.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Only have room for small vegetable garden. Potato Bins perfect for me. Easy to plant, maintain, and harvest. Growing potatoes for local food bank. Can elevate bins for even easier work. I also like their folding compacity for storage. The bins are heavenly for spuds.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The soil in our area is something of a challenge. My wife, who is the real gardener wanted to try the bins. We have had some impressive early growth. It's too soon to tell about yield, though. These were easy to fill and set out. I would suggest selling them with some sort of slatted platform for draining, though.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I purchased the potato bin but was disappointed I could not purchase potatoes to go in it. I gave it to my niece and she is going to plant carrots in it. Won't know the results for a while.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
Increases vegetable "boxes" without the fuss. Great product, very quick to use.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I have just started my seed potatoes in these bins. We have had a few days of rain and these have drained well. Looking for to a good harvest.

I am using this product for potatoes.I like them. The only thing I noticed is that when you first plant using 1/3 fill of soil the walls tend to fall inward.I know as I add more soil around the potatoes the walls will stand up, but initially they fall in.Not sure is this hurts growth or of any way to fix other then some kind of ring on top.I guess I will know how well they work at harvest time.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
This is my first time planting potatoes in these bins, bought 3, planted fingerlings in one and Carola Potatoes in the other 2....The shoots are already appearing....WHAT FUN!....I am very excited to see the harvest...Will wait patiently....Would recommend...
Comments about Potato Bin®:
The mobility and accessibility of the planter is a great plus. My potatoes were growing like kudzu. The aeration is a great plus.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
These pots are amazing. I have 2 of these pots and planted seed potaotes in both of them a few weeks ago. I also planted the same seed potatoes in a plastic pot that is just a little larger then the fabric ones. The plants in the fabric pots are about 4 times the size as the ones right next to them in a plastic pot. The fabric pot plants are so happy and growing like crazy. It has been so hot this spring in Florida and the plants seem to be doing so much better in the fabric pots maybe because they can breathe? The pots are flimsy until they are filled up with dirt but that took no time at all the way the plants grew in these pots. Can't wait to see what the harvest is like!

I have planted potatoes in two of these bins, so far so good, the potatoes are growing! the only thing I dont like is the tops tend to flop in a little, shading the plants so I turned back the top a couple inches like a cuff, it stays open better.

I'm growing fingerling potatoes in one, and a large tomato in another. I was so pleased with the two that I bought here that I found others in different sizes and am growing a variety of vegetables and flowers on my deck and patio. It's a perfect product for someone, such as me, who gardens from a wheelchair.
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I tried potatoes in a bag last year and it worked OK. Forgot to water and still got a few. This year I am trying the official Potato Bin. They are a nice size, look durable and were easy to set up and fill. I have high hopes for a bumper crop. And if it doesn't work for potatoes, I am sure they will work with most any plant!
Comments about Potato Bin®:
I planted two bins with seed potatoes this last weekend. I found them easy to use and was able to place them in any location. I think if they had some sort of handles it would improve the design and allow them to be easily moved or carried. I have not yet enough use time to evaluate performance
Comments about Potato Bin®:
We can't wait for the plants to grow so we can harvest them. Looks like the bag will last for years.
