I used several of these planters for years. One was in the garden for 3 years, and two others were there for 2 years. They worked very well, and survived all sorts of weather. The problem was when I needed to move them. Attempting to take them apart was very difficult. Despite cleaning off all the dirt, it seemed that some deterioration occurred at the joints so they started to crack. I'm not sure how I will be able to put some of these beds back together again for use in the future. So, they're great as long as you don't have to dismantle them.
I plan to expand my vegetable garden by using the beds to grow in areas where I have poor soil. The beds will allow me to grow above ground. I have recommended these beds to my friends.
These grow beds go together very quickly and easily. I'm sure they will last a very long time. I think there should be some information on assembly requirements if you buy the 3 X 6 because you'll need to connect two 3 X 3s by drilling some holes and inserting screws.
A note on appearance/flimsy - referring to a characteristic I don't care for: The sides bow out when the bed is filled and in my opinion make them look crummy/flimsy.
I have two and my plans are to get two more and set these up with paths between them in a large diamond shape. Easy to handle and assemble. Can't wait until spring!
Corner locking system is flimsy. Pegs don't want to stay in lowest holes.
I used this product next to the foundation of the house to plant herbs. It is a great space saver and keeps the herbs separated from the rest of the plants because it is a raised bed. Great product. I will add more to it next year.
Having ten of the 3' x 3' beds I moved them from Massachusetts to southern Florida when I retired. Seeing how well they hold up in the hot Florida sun I decided to add two 3" x 6' beds. My growing season here (zone 10) is different but these grow beds produce the same great results
We always wanted to grow vegetables but lacked sufficient sunlight in our backyard to do so. Hurricane Ike took care of that by removing all of our trees so we decided to make lemonade from lemons and try our hand at veggies. Raised beds were the only possibility because our yard is crisscrossed with large roots from the trees we used to have. The beds went together easily and we now have 36 square feet of organic soil with banana peppers, bell peppers, bok choy, parsnips, lettuces and turnips growing or germinating. FYI, it takes 3/4 cubic yard of soil to fill two 3'X6' grow beds. Thanks to the removable hinge pins we were able to roll in the bulk of the soil with a wheelbarrow, replace the end section and finish filling the beds by shovel. The raised beds also seem to deter snails and slugs from consuming the produce. Does anyone have any hints on keeping neighborhood cats from using them as very large litterboxes???
From all of the pictures this looks like a "solid" edging for a flower bed... somewhat like at 2x10 board would be. Was quite taken aback when they arrived to find that the backside is hollow with only a few ridges to give it shape. Not a single picture of the product showed or even hinted at this
This causes it to bow out in the middle (even at only 3ft in length) and gives it a flimsy appearance.
- Easy to assemble
- grew carrots, tomatoes, peppers, squash
- the best way to garden
- would like ideas on how to add irrigation system to use during our dry summer
I have a small and a large grow bed and prefer the large one for the size of my garden area. They both work great, though would like to have a slightly deeper height available.
These bed on the whole are easy to setup and work as well as my other raised beds. Weather resistence is a major selling point. Also one person can set up a 3x3 in no time.I bought my firsr 3x6 this fall and found drilling the holes difficult and I'm skeptical that the metal u-bar will last.I have two 6x3 beds I made from 2-3x3s. Using an extension package to retrofit them means removing most of the soil and dismantling the bed. I really don' think it's cost effective. I'm working on how I can do strengthening of the sides without moving the soil around. [...]
This bed was easy and quick to assemble. My cantaloupe crop was bigger than ever. The soil stays nice and warm.
I started with just three and now have twelve. they're incredibly simple to set up and fill, and I've taken them apart and put them back together to change the overall design of the arrangment in the vegetable garden to suit changing plans and plantings. I've been contemplating raised beds for nearly thirty years and shied away because I didn't want to use treated lumber. These are a fabulous alternative. And if I decide to change or reduce their number, I can take them up and store them in the garage in very little space (not that there's much chance of that!).
We bought one of these in the spring and planted tomatoes and peppers in it. We were very pleased with the result, and bought another for next year. It is easy to assemble and carry, made weeding unnecessary, and helped the garden look trim and neat. I only wish it were less expensive, as I would then order several more.
These are great to use especially if you think you may have to move the beds later. They are easy to position. It's helpful to be able to try them out in an area to see how they look and if it's practical for them to remain there.
Read my pop up net review.
Great except for the corner pieces - three broke on installation.
Hurricane Ike demolished our trees and turned our totally shady backyard into a totally sunny yard, thereby eliminating our excuse for not growing vegetables. After looking at the alternatives we decided to invest in the grow beds. They went together easily and when filled, bowed only slightly in our hot South Texas sun. We're looking forward to possibly eating some fruits of our fall garden. The grow beds gave us a chance to live out the saying, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade".

I ordered six beds last year for my new vegetable garden. This year I ordered another one so I can move some plants outside the fenced area. I like the design on the one I just ordered because it has the corner pegs (last year's version did not).
I am disappointed in the quality of this product, expected something more durable. Plus the assembly process was not as quick and easy either. The larger bed which is an extension of basic 3x3 requires drilling into plastic. If not careful, it is easy to snap off the plastic hinges at corners.
I will be using this product for square foot gardening. It was very easy to assemble, but one corner cover did break (this doesn't appear to affect the look or stability of the product though). I chose this product over others online, because of a few factors. Price being one of the most important. The guarantee being the second. Thirdly, the appearance. It matched my composter which is sitting nearby. The dark color will also help the soil warm up in the Spring and stay a little warmer in the Fall. I'll let these two overwinter with some garlic first and see how they hold up. If it works out well, I can see myself purchasing two more next year.
For first time gardeners with 8 year olds this grow bed is perfect. Assembly was very easy and the kids can reach everywhere.
In addition to buying a few of these grow beds, I also built a couple of equal sized beds (3 x 3) from cedar boards (to have a variety of beds in the garden that I could evaluate). Cedar is very expensive where I live, and I now wish that I had just used these grow beds instead of building any from the cedar. These are less expensive, and much easier to assemble. I also love the fact that they are made from recycled plastic.
I have not had them long enough to see how they will hold up under the intense Florida sun, but they look like they will last for years. The only minor complaint is that they bow a little when filled with soil. But they could be reinforced pretty easily I would think, so this is a minor complaint.
Great idea but the sides were not sturdy enough to hold their shape well.
Add perfect soil and you have a perfect garden. I'll probably buy another one.
I was frustrated trying to grow a garden in our clay soil. I tried building a raised bed, but it was too shallow. These beds are so easy to assemble and hold enough soil to grow any vegetable. I have 10 beds and raise enough food for me and my husband with plenty to share with family and friends.
I had such good results with the 3'x3' grow bed for my herbs, strawberries and asparagus that I wanted a bigger version! Keeps soil warm, but does not dry out easily. No problems with weeds, either.
easy to set up and use!
I am using this product for my herb garden and the size is just right.. Easy to assemble.
I bought this so that I could grow something in my suburban Texas yard. I may have to relocate it due to the sun (or lack thereof) but otherwise am very pleased.
Living in South Florida, we have a problem with raised bed made of lumber or lumber treated with wood preservative that would leak a dangerous chemical. It is an ideal solution to controlling the ph of the soil, and amendments for plant specific.
be careful assembling the corners. the little plastic notches break easily when inserting the spikes. i do like the depth of the box. this is our first year using these. i am waiting to see how they do over the winter
I like the Grow Bed very much. It was easy to assemble, and stands up well on its own, without needing to be staked into the ground. It is very sturdy, black plastic which attracts sunlight and conducts heat into the Grow Bed very well.
I ordered the 3' x 6' size, and was a little surprised that I first received a 3' x 3' bed (square), then in a second package received the extender kit to make it the 3' x 6' size. The product description did not make it clear that this is what I was ordering - I thought I was ordering a raised bed with solid pieces for the sides. Upon viewing the diagram, I can see the intersection points drawn in, but the physical description presented on the website lacks these details and could lead to some real confusion.
That being said, the extender kit assembles in line with the square bed very easily, but provides you with rectangular panels to screw into where the pieces connect to form the long sides. The idea being to add stability as well as covering the connection point (for appearance). There are no pre-drilled holes for these pieces, you are expected to drill your own holes and use the enclosed screws and nuts to secure the panels in place.
THis is the THIRD Grow Bed I have ordered this year and they are super. This is the best way to garden especially if you have limited space in your backyard. I grow all our veggies in these beds and everything grows like magic!
Perfect size for a kitchen garden right beside the house. Kids can't wait to eat the lettuce we planted. We will use it for a variety of veggies next spring and summer.
I bought 5 of these put together above garden beds to start gardening. I had so much fun planting and watching everything come to life in them! I work 7 days a week and I've always wanted a garden but they just seemed like too much work. These beds are easy to put together, easy to plant and absolutely a dream to keep up with. Buy 2 or 3 of them and connect with Mother Earth again!
I did so well with my Grow Bed (watermelon and acorn squash seeds, directly into the ground) that I have ordered another for next season.
I love these grow beds as they give a much greater yield than when I use to plant straight in the ground. They also keep the heat very well as I have tomatoes right into October and I live in the Northeast. So I would say to anyone go ahead and purchase them right now.
I put the raised bed together, myself. Well, sort of. My husband's back was bothering him, so he read me the instructions and I did the work. Hey, he usually does it all. I had no trouble putting it together and am very proud of myself. It is small enough (6X6) that I can keep it right near the house so my vegetables will get constant care. My vegetables are now planted (tomatoes and peppers) and I am looking forward to a bountiful crop!
set up and ready to go in 15 min.
good for keeping grass and weeds out of the plants
found these much easier to start my winter garden.
This is ideal for the apartment setting.
Growing herbs, vegetables and fruit is so easy with these little square raised beds.
I put 11 of the small beds along a small patio and deck of a tiny city house to create a lot of garden space. The size was perfect, but I had to create bottoms for all of the beds to hold the dirt, since they're designed to go into an existing garden.
I loved this grow bed. It was very easy to put together. It was light-weight enough for me to do alone. And if I move, I can take this garden with me. I currently have broccoli, peppers, beets and lettuce growing.
I HAVE GROWN POTATOES IN THIS FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. I ALWAYS HAVE A BUMPER CROP...ENOUGH TO FEED MY SMALL FAMILY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. iT IS EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND VERY EASY TO HARVEST MY "CROP." i NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GROW POTATOES JUST IN MY GARDEN. tHE RAISED GROW BED MAKES IT SIMPLE AND FUN.
We used 6 mini beds to make a double layer, "L" shaped border for a patio. In the spring, we will add a trellis so we can grow a living screen for privacy.
I have lettuce growing in one now but I have not yet used them for other crops. I am assembling the others and will have them placed, filled with soil, and ready for next year! I bought 10 and planning to buy more. I have been growing in raised beds and highly recommend them. I wanted to make my own but was unable to locally find the material I wanted and specially ordering it was cost prohibitive. I think these beds are cost effective. I like the depth because it will allow for both deep feeders and root crops. You can use less soil in them with shallow roots. I wanted plastic boxes I could leave out year round. The only negative I have encountered is the boxes seem to be buckling a little in the middle of the sides when filled. As long as nothing breaks, that will not be a problem.
I had been looking for the perfect raised bed to add to my landscaping in my back yard and these were it! Perfect for up near my home, they attract the sun and my plants start earlier than anyone else on the block.

I ordered three of these in the 18" x 3' size for my daughter who wanted to plant a few vegetables but lived in a community that was very strict about outside structures. She placed these along the foundation on the sunny side of her house and planted a few things in them. The grow beds were very attractive as well as the perfect size for what she wanted to achieve. They were only 18" across allowing her to reach even the things planted at the back with ease. These are perfect for someone just starting out who wants to start small and experiment.
I live in Zone 4/5 and can't start planting until around Mother's Day. Having raised beds allows me to plant sooner. Great for a compact garden. If using intensive planting method, you will get a lot of produce in the 3 x 3 planters. I started with two planters and have kept adding each year. Well worth the investment.
I can grow a larger amount in a smaller space and less weeding.
Great value, easy to set up.
Last year I purchased four grow beds- this year I added four more! I can't believe the amount of vegetables I get from such a small space. It is easy to keep each bed filled with soil for a particular plant type, easy to use or not use pest control, weed control, or compost as needed in each bed too! My neighbors think they are wonderful and I have passed on many catalogs to them:)
These are perfect for the square foot gardener in combination with the nets that fit them.
Last year, I tried to grow tomatoes and lettuce in pots and the squirrels and rabbits destroyed everything- even with cages. This year, I used the raised beds. I put soil and compost in the bed and put in some marigolds and NOTHING was touched. Everything grew great and I plan on buying more beds to expand my garden.
I bought the 3x3 size because I could get a pop-up cover. The combination is great. The plants are protected from deer and rabbits. The netting gives a little shade.

I love the raised bed and we are enjoying our veggies very much - great for small yards.
You used to carry a similar product from the UK. I have a couple of those beds and I think they are more sturdy. I wish you would carry them again. I do however like the size of the mini beds in your current product offering, they fit perfectly under my window.
this product will be used in the early season for broccoli next year and was used for yukon golds this year. the screen cage will hopefully prevent animals from eating the broccoli before we do
The grow beds keep gardening neat and off the grass. They currently line the fence on the east side of our property. They work like a raised bed making it easy to tend to the space and keep the vegetation contained. This works as well for harvesting....you can always get to the crop!
While these aren't crazy flimsy, they are a bit flimsy. I have three beds, each with an extension kit. The kit includes a bar to keep the longer bed from bowing. The bed still bows on either side of the bar.

Prepared Grow Beds for next years growing season.
Replaced my wooden beds with Grow Beds.

The bed was easy to assemble and because it is so deep, holds a good amount of garden soil for root development and doesn't dry out too quickly. I haven't grown vegetables in many years but am getting great tomatoes from this bed. I've just got room for one more so already purchased another for next year to expand the garden
