I ordered this wasp trap off season so that I would be ready for summer. [...] Its chipped near the opening the wasps fly into, so hopefully it won't affect its performance. Its worth a try as it at least doesn't require the use of chemicals.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Love the glass topper....I use watered down grape jelly and have attracted all the bugs I don't want. Feel safe to use around the hummingbirds too!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Just received a box with a jar. There were no instructions and the water leaked out from the plug. Don't even bother with purchasing this product.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Now that the ground wasps are active,,I have caught a lot of them..I use sugar water, the same as I feed the hummingbirds.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Heavy and you need a place to hang that is not obstructed.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Wish I'd ordered more than one--it works and is nice to look at too. Best of all, environmentally friendly and no chemical sprays used any more to get rid to those stinging wasps.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Filled with sugar water & hung. Have not got a single bug to enter it. Have had others (different type)of these that have worked but not this one. Would not buy again.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The wasp catcher is very pretty. It hasn't caught as many wasps as I had hoped.(I used pepsi) I'll try the sugar water and see if that works better. We have a double shepherds hook with a hummingbird feeder on one side and the wasp catcher on the other. If ants are a problem getting into either, put some axle grease on the hook and the ants won't pass by the grease.[...]
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Beautiful way assist with wasp problem, but no instructions included. Had to research online and with limited help, no wasps caught yet.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I really like the looks of these traps - not a fan of those ugly plastic things hanging from my porch. I have tried using apple juice as an attractant without success. Sugar water is my next attempt. Our Montana weather has not exactly been seasonal so far this year, so am unable to fairly assess results. At the least, they are a colorful addition to our gardens.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Some users having problems comment that the plug does not fit the hole in the bottom and sugar water leaks out. The plug is for the top of the trap. Put a small amount of juice, sugarwater or my favorite bait...beer. You only need to add enough liquid to fill the bottom "lipped" section of the jar. the plug should be put in the top and the hole in the bottom left open. The bottom hole is where the wasps and bees enter. the hole in the top is there to empty the trap. Hope this explanation helps.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I bought this because of a recurring hornet problem on my screened porch. I also bought the Natural Wasp Deterrent artificial hornets' nest. I haven't seen a hornet since installing these two items, so I am very pleased with both. This glass trap is bigger and prettier than it appears in the picture. It's very decorative.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Looks very attractive hanging on my deck
Catches a variety of bugs
very easy to set up and use
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The items I have purchased are very satisfactory, the order taken nice and helpful, a nice experience buying from Gardner's
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Every year we hang out hummingbird feeders and the wasps become a nuisance. This year we got a "shepherd's crook" with 2 hooks, using one for the hummer feeder and the other for the wasp trap. The trap is a decorative artistic addition, but best of all, the wasps (and other insects too) appear to prefer it to the feeder!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Haven't had much chances to really use this around our porch yet, but it works well in the greenhouse where we have the most problems with ALL types of bees, wasps etc..
I specifically bought it for the greenhouse, so we will see how it does
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Has yet to catch anything, leaks sugar water all over the place, handle slipped off neck of the bottle when filling for the first the. The one I purchase at the hardware store for half the price has had more success.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
These look beautiful -- but so far I've only caught one wasp. (I think it feel in by mistake.) My main issue is the stopper at the bottom - it's too loose so it doesn't plug the hole very well. This is a problem when we're talking about a liquid as the liquid (sugar water) drips everywhere and why would a wasp go for the "caged sugar water" when it can get the easy, cage-less sugar water that drips from the bottom? Pretty but not effective in the least.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Beautiful colors - if you fill the bottom hole with the plug, it can be used as a vas.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Cuts down on the amount of hornets at my nectar feeders.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Hung this catcher along patio edge, away from eating area about 5 ft off the ground. Bees and wasps were attracted to it almost right away. Easy to clean. Even look s pretty at night with Dim patio lighting. Not disappointed at all.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I filled bottle with sugar water, hung it up for a week and did not catch any wasps, in fact, no bugs flew into the bottle.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I actually bought one in each color and they add color to the garden. I've placed them in different areas because we get a of wasps in the area.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The trap did not have any instructions with it so I tried some sugar water and I think its still to cold for it to work but I love the color and I was happy with the price when I found the same thing at Kohls but not in the same pretty colors and they were about $5 more each.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I am allergic to bee stings and this wasp trap really works!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I really haven't got to see that the wasp trap works as advertised, but I do love the way it looks and the quality of the workmanship.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
It is a little large and heavy.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I've had the product up for 2 weeks and have not caught one wasp, although there are plenty around. However it is very pretty, maybe I'll turn into a candle holder.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I don't like wasps & I live in the country where there are cozillions- this is the most effective trap- I put an orange peel or leftover fruit in it & it attracts a great deal of wasps so I can sit out on my deck and completely relax-
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The traps haven't actually caught any wasps yet, but they make a lovely addition to our outdoor area. I think I probably didn't put enough sugar in the sugar water mixture, so I need to change the sugar water and try again.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I love the look of this beautiful glass wasp catcher. I am a little nervous about it breaking in the garden (strong wind knocking it down) but it is very effective for the use described. Would like to get one in each color.,
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This product looks great hanging in the garden. But it doesn't work. The glass plug at the bottom doesn't fit correctly, so any water I pour in just drips right out. It still looks great hanging in the garden though so I may get more.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I recieved this today and while I am pleased with the size and color I was surprised that there are no directions for what to bait it with--that would be a great thing to know-your website states sugar water so I guess I will try that before I go on to something else--I am really hoping it works--wasps have taken up residence in and around my shed.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We have these hanging around the outside of our deck to keep the bees and wasps at bay. They look so much better than other nasty insect lures. We use apple juice to lure, and they are LOADED with (mostly) bees and (a few) wasps. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the cleaning out process is kind of gross, but well worth it to have such an attractive, natural, AND effective product. I am ordering some more right now for my father-in-law!

Looks great and works great
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Upon receiving I placed the trap into a tree in backyard and had good results. Worried about wind I tried to slightly bend the wire at the top and the powder coating cracked. I noticed that the trap has faded in the bright sun and is pale in color now.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I don't mind wasps and they're beneficial to the garden so I leave them be. I bought these for decoration and then discovered if I bait them with a tiny amount of canned tuna-fish (or tuna-fish catfood) and water they will attract black flies like crazy. They flies go in and can't get out. Set on the ground, remove the top and blast with a hose every few weeks and they're good as new.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Sit it and forget it, or hang them.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I'm amazed at how effective these traps work.
I bought one of each color. I think they also look quite stunning in my gardens..especially when the sun shines on them.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We love how the wasp catcher works, no chemicals, no noises. And we also enjoy looking at it!

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Not as effective as I would have hoped at luring the wasps, but still it does trap some and looks good doing it.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We put these on the ground in our apple orchard. The sugar water really attracts the wasps and flies.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Really caught the bees!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I used orange juice with honey to bait the jar, and it worked well, luring wasps away from the hummingbird feeder. Insects wandered in, but really couldn't get out. Peace for the hummers!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This wasp trap works well, however it would have been nice to have instuctions for it's use. I had to experiment some to find an attractant for the wasps.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
this product did not work at all.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This product may work in theory, but in my yard the wasps are totally uninterested even though I hung this where there are 3 nests within 10 feet. Fortunately, it is pretty to look at, so for now it will stay put.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We have three of these jars and they work!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We were making our own wasp traps out of water bottles and now we have a beautiful looking one that works, and adds to the personality of our garden.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This product is very effective for what I was looking for; beauty to our gardens and to attract the wasps and bees from my hummingbird feeders.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This works perfect as a vase with garden flowers. The size and colors work well for a very pretty addition to the house.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I bought 3 of these wasp catchers, they are beautiful but not one wasp has flown in for a drink. I tried sugar water and then a friend suggested Mountain Dew, that did not work. Do you think I can put candles in them??
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Much larger than expected. Great color. Excellent addition to our outdoor space.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
A safe effective way to reduce nuisance wasps around our home and yard. This product is also aesthetically pleasing!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
We haven't had as much trouble with wasps this year, so we haven't caught more than one in this. I bought the blue one and it is nice as a decoration on a shepherd's crook in my flowerbed.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Have only caught one wasp. Where the water is stored needs to be deeper.

Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Being used as a vase with silk flowers in it.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I have one on the back deck and one on the front porch. Very environmentally friendly. Really do work. Very attractive.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I have not caught anything in it yet
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The product is beautiful and does when used properly attract some wasps. I have a log home and these weren't exceptionally effective in killing the wasps. They are messy in that you have to change the bait and remove the wasps that die. Not the best product I have purchased from Gardeners Supply.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I hang a trap near my humming bird feeder and near each bluebird house.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
This item allows my hummingbirds to eat their own food, and the wasps are going into their own home.
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
The Wasp Traps work very well as advertized and look attractive in our front and back gardens. One of my main reasons for purchasing this wasp trap is to keep the wasps and yellow jackets away from our hummingbird feeders. The wasps and yellow jackets were a real nuisance last year to the point of burrowing in the ground under the feeders. Now they are attracted to a free lunch in the traps and die happy!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
I followed directions and hung the wasp trap on my porch, but I did not have much luck trapping wasps. It may be because I have hummingbird feeders nearby where the wasps love to "drink". In the hot Texas sun, the liquid evaporated quickly and left me with sugar crystals.
But they are a beautiful attraction to my porch!
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
These look beautiful hanging off our deck roof, they glisten in the sunlight, but also catch wasps, bees, etc. when you add sugar water....
Comments about Jewel-Tone Wasp Trap:
Last year I got one for myself, then I tried to give one to my daughter for Christmas but it was out of season so I had to wait. Both daughters got one for Eastertime/Mothers Day. They work best in August when the yellow jackets start to come around.
