These are excellent for peonies, but I wish they were taller. My peonies are 4' tall. I had to tie circles of twine around the very top above these circles. If they were only taller I would give them a 10+! They are still worth it, though.

Put this support over the emerging peony bush and able to train stems through the grid. As the flowers open they become top-heavy and any rain will cause them the flop to the ground. Easy to assemble but I did have to use twisty ties to secure the ring to each stake. I ordered the largest one and now the peony bush has grown so much that the leaves hide the grid. Great product and better than tomato cages.

I use the 16" grow thru supports for my peonies. These supports have criss-cross wires that provide additional support for the flower stems and heavy flower heads. These are much better than just circle hoops. I will need to buy the taller ones (21") though as I underestimated the height of my plants. Be sure to place in garden as new shoots emerge in Spring;hard to place otherwise.

I bought these frames to use in my urns to support my tuberous begonias which always break off due to the weight of the flowers. I found the legs too long for my pots but will find a way to support the frame itself which is a good fit for my pots. Can't say yet if the frames will do the job or not.

This is my first year with Peonies. Having seen the results of neglected plants I knew it would take something other than make shift supports to show beautiful plants the way I wanted to, so I bought 8.
I've been waiting for peonies to grow before making any comments. They appear to do the job very well. Only a few of the plants (they were planted bare-root last fall) have grown through, so far. (May 5th)
I've just placed 3 of the single rod supports on Columbine's. All Supports are exceeding my expectations. The 30 and 40 mph winds here are not hurting my plants as they would without supports.
They're not bad looking either.

I have no complaints about the product itself, built well, and heavy gauge steel. Here is my complaint, I just received 6 grow thru supports, 20 inch, with only three legs each, I have been ordering these for a few years now, and always received 4 legs for each one.True to the times, that has been changed to 3 legs a piece,but still charging the same price.....SAD...I will be shopping elsewhere from now on.

This is the second set I've purchased. The first set's top locks onto the support legs. This set the top is loose and I find it is easy to dislodge while working around the plant. I'm sure that won't be an issue once the plants are tall enough to stick up through the top.

I really like these supports. They blend in with the landscape but also provide some needed support for my young Peony's. They are pretty durable and store easily. I can see that they could be used for Gladiola's and most any flower or vegetable that need a little stem support while growing strong.

This is the greatest thing for peonies. I have many peony plants in my front yard, and was having trouble with them falling over as they got taller. The heavy buds and flowers make them top heavy. The Grow-Through Supports work great. I put them over the plants when they are a few inches high, pushing down to get the support's "legs" most of the way down into the soil. As the plants get taller, I pull up on the center grid a little, pulling the "legs" back out of the soil a bit every few days. I stop when the legs are almost back out of the soil (leaving a couple inches for stability) to get the maximum height benefit. The plants look so much better standing more upright, and I don't have the lovely blooms laying in the mulch. The supports are green and very "airy" in design, so you can't even tell they are there after a few days. In the fall, the legs remove easily for flat storage.

I have a few areas that get enough sun for sun-loving plants to grow well, and with the help of the grow-through supports they don't flop over (espcially taller sedums and veronicas). They really need those few extra hours of sun.

Last year I bought some rings from the local discount store. BIG mistake. They are flimsy, don't hold the heavier plants up and are overall cheaply made. These are much heavier and look like they will do the job so much better, but will find out for sure after the peonies reach full height.

I was disappointed in these. Maybe I tried to use them with the wrong plants: tree paeonies, chrysanthemums and a couple of other plants. The ring spacing didn't allow for much growth in width. I will order more of the single rings next time.

I am amazed at the durability of this product! I have staked my Peony plants with these for 3 yrs and never pull them up in the cold months. There is not a sign of rust or deterioration anywhere on the stakes. As my peony plants multiply each year, I keep coming back to order more. I love how the color of this stake blends with the plant and is practically invisible. Make sure the ground isn't too hard before trying to put these stakes down because the legs will bend when put under too much downward pressure. I highly recommend this particular product! I wouldn't use anything else!

I just bought more to use with my peonies. The taller ones are best and as long as you install at first sign of growth (or leave in place all year), they are most effective at keeping flower branches from falling over. Great for other floppy shrubs and flowers as well such as false indigo, asters, etc. Soil must be reasonably soft to avoid bending metal stakes.

The only drawback I've experienced is the legs bend too easily when they hit a tree root in the soil.

This year I am using them as plant supports, but also preventative measures to protect the plants from my dogs. The dogs love running through the flower garden and these supports keep them from running over my tender plants.

Have searched for years for a product to keep my coneflowers from falling over and these supports offer the perfect solution. I'm really unhappy with these supports. I bought five sets and used them to support a variety of double flowered peonies. Installing was easy enough, when the plants were only a foot tall, but as they grew through them the stems dislodged the supports time and again. That would have been tolerable, but in the end, with our heavy spring rain and the big blooms, the supports didn't do the job. Not happy; these beautiful peony bloons I wish I could return them. For next year I'll be searching for a solution that's sturdier and one piece.

These grids are absolutely wonderful and I couldn't be more pleased with them. They are sturdy, attractive, and certainly do the job. The plastic coating is smooth and it makes the leaves or shoots just glid through plus they are extremely easy to clean. Since they are flat when not in use, they couldn't be easier to store. I just put them back in the box they came in until I need one. I would order them again and will if I need additional ones. Also, I would highly recommend to anyone, you won't be disappointed. I'm near Chicago and the wind lately reaches 50 mph, enough to wipe out my spring flowering tulips. Since I have been using these the stems grow upright and tall and the wind cannot destroy them. Great support, the top is divided so all your stems of your plants are supported and not just a circle around the outside. I bought to use for my peonies and lavender, and worked wonderful! I bought this in many different sizes 2 sets of medium and large and will certainly buy more for next year! The green color is great and can barley be seen after your plants grow . They are easily put together and taken apart for storing. The only thing I would change would be to have a 4th stack into the ground, the item only comes with three. and maybe make the stacks alittle longer...my peonies are so tall this year...and I ended up having to stack with additional single supports because I didn't go tall enough after being stacked. But even still, it works wonders after all the rain my plants are still standing tall for the 1st year! Will buy again.

I'm disappointed that the 2010 "deluxe" grow through supports are not as sturdy as last year's. There are only three legs rather than 3. And, unlike in the photo, the cross bars do not all touch the outside rim.

I am very, very pleased to have found this product. It is unobtrusive in my perennial borders but is holding up even the largest mature peonies. The plants look very natural. We had torrential downpours soon after I placed the hoops, and both hoops and plants came through unscathed.

These are a sturdily constructed, heavily coated,easy-to-use solution to floppy plants. I bought them for Russian Sage and Blue False Indigo, and both are growing up through them beautifully. The wires are somewhat visible. Russian Sage foliage will soon hide them, I think, but the Indigo not as much. I am confused by reviews that say they are not easy to store, because they are cleverly designed so the legs can flip off and the entire unit can store flat.

I am currently using these as a test run with peonies. The peonies are still standing tall even through thunderstorms and high winds. The grid support would have been a better choice for me to use with double blooming daffodils. Its difficult for broad leave plants to grow through. But, perfect for bulbs to grow through.

I use this product for my Peonies. So far the grow through supports are working as described in the catalog. This is my first year with Peonies but I know they tend to droop following a good rain storm or windy weather. The supports blend with the environment so you dont really notice them unless you are up close. Once the plants fill in I am sure they will be vertually unnoticeable. I am happy with this purchase.

I love these for my peonies. I put the circles on the ground when the pips first emerge, and then I can pull them up and attach the legs when the stems are full grown. They barely show around the peonies, and yet keep even the largest blooms from drooping on the ground. I used to use little circles of wire fencing, and they took a lot of space to store, rusted, looked 'trashy' and weren't tall enough for all of the varieties. These work and store much better. I've had some for up to 5 years, and they still look pretty much like new.

These supports are just what I needed for my peonies. They are very sturdy and of high quality. They had supports at a big box store but they were too small. These are the correct size that I needed ( the largest diameter) and are doing a good job of supporting my plants. The price was only slightly more than the big box ones, but larger and sturdier.

We had been having a problem with our chives growing tall, falling over & laying on the ground. This product has taken care of this problem. We are able to use it in the beginning stages of growth & are able to adjust the heigth to accommodate the plant growing taller. The one we bought is really too large for this purpose, but we made it work. It would be great if there was a smaller version to be used for herbs.

Because the illustration is a drawing and not a close up photo I couldn't tell, until I was installing them, that the vertical "legs" aren't actually attached to the round supports. The design of this intersection, where the two units meet, is rather wonky and was challenging for me to keep them connected. But they appear to be well made and the coating should resist rust. It's too early in the season to know whether they're going to support these big peonies; I'll know in June. Because of that and the design problem I'm not able to recommend them at this time.

These 20" supports are great for larger plants. Many times I use just the support ring with four 6ft stakes in each corner. I tie them together with twine and can move the support ring up the stake as the plants grow. It helps to support my Black Eye Susan's and Joe Pie Weed, which grow very tall.
The only complaint I have is some of the supports arrived damaged. The green coating was missing in some places, which means they will rust quickly. They were on sale so I didn't call to complain, but it was disappointing.

I bought 2 sets of 3, as I planted 4 peonies. Good thing I got extra, because I needed to borrow legs from the two extra supports, in order
to add a fourth leg to the ones I needed, for balance and stability. They should not come apart as they do - they would be much better and much stronger if the legs were already attached, even welded, to the top.

I bought this to hold up peonies, and even in our incredibly raining summer, the plants stayed upright this year. Much easier to mow around without running over the blooms. The downside was that when my son mowed and hit a leg with the edge of the mower, it bent. Blends into the plant and is completely invisible. I only wish they were larger for some of my really old, big peony plants - next spring I'm going to try staggering 2 or 3 together to see if that works better.

Solidly made. I have used this style before and it is a challenge to hold the grid while teasing the flower heads through, while setting the legs. These openings are smaller than other brands;perhaps more appropriate for coreopsis or dianthus - little guys that are easy to send through the grid. The legs probably should be set at the time you place the grid. Shorter legs are easier to manage.

At last, my tall phlox and shasta daisies are not flopping all over the garden and other plants. When the plants get to about six inches, install the ring which is easy to do in all soil types. The plants grow right through. I found, though that rain soaked peonies were bent in half over the ring. I need even taller supports for these or to allow them to droop. I bought medium. Overall, hey are a huge help!

I have a floppy "Blue Hill" salvia and knew that grow-through supports would solve its problem, but I could only find much larger supports at my local gardening supply stores. I had to resort to string and sticks to hold this plant upright and by mid-summer, they weren't doing the job. The smallest size grow-through supports are tailor-made for salvia!

I put the supports around the plants as they are coming up in the spring so the stems grow right through the openings in the supports. These supports are helpful for peonies full of heavy blossoms. I prefer the old supports from 2-3 years ago with four spikes to hold up the grids. The new ones have three spikes, but are still very effective in preventing the plants from falling over. And, the new grids have larger holes which are better supports for large peony buds before they bloom.

I have some heirloom peonies that have extremely large heavy blooms. The blooms are too pretty to drag on the ground! I've never been able to find a support that is tall or strong enough to support them. This is the first product I've tried that actually works on my peonies. I have agastache that droops in heavy rain storms. Other stakes that I used last year weren't so effective. The agastache grows through this so you can't see it. And, it rained heavily 2 nights ago, and the agastache is still growing straight.

I planted Hybrid Lillies which get quite tall and once they bloom (multiple blooms per plant) they used to always bend over and fall down. No matter how many individual sticks/stakes I used and hated tieing them as it looked ugly. So far, these garden stakes have done the trick.
