I put them in my Worm Factory and, even though they had traveled quite some distance, they were healthy and got to work almost immediately making lovely castings from what they were fed. They have laid eggs and seem healthy and happy in their new home.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We ordered 4 lbs and the worms were VERY agile and really looked healthy[...]We will probably order more of these worms as we just decided to get a hoop house and we'll need LOTS of vermicompost. We're also going to make ethanol and the leftover plant material is wonderful worm food.Got a few red wigglers a couple years ago and occasionally put some into pots and beds. To our surprise, they often multiplied in the pots and they love it in our raised and garden beds. Every time I remove or add a plant in one of our raised beds I see several worms in the soil. We don't till, just mulch with aged horse manure and wood chips occasionally and the worms do all the work.Great for organic gardeners!

They won't survive a hard freeze, but all spring, summer, and fall, they're working hard at reducing our organic waste into beautiful soil.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
I use red wiggler worms mostly for composting kitchen scraps (& junk mail). I've tried ordering worms from several sources and these are best I've found. The order contained a generous amount of large and lively worms. They have been really going to town in my composter!

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
The red worms are in a composter in our unfinished basement. They save several trips to the outdoor compost pile, and as a bonus, provide a supply of fish bait. The worms[...]continue to thrive.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We have a small company in our small town that makes worm castings so I just wanted to try something differant. They are kept in the basement, you wouldn't believe how many people get the heebie jeebies just over a worm. It has taken more time than I thought it would but only because the kitchen waste needs to be in small pieces. I have gotten my granddaughter to even like them. It would make a good school project or be like me and try something differant in gardening. I will be making another batch. If you buy them make sure your container lid is tight, they do like to wander.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
These were ordered for a club project, that was to be held in May. We received in June after the meeting, next time will order more in advance.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
I have had a multi-level vermiposter for over 10 years which I keep in my garage. Last winter I guess it got too cold as most of the red worms died off... So I ordered a fresh batch from Gardeners Supply online. [...] when I opened the box, it was chock full of red wrigglers. I put them into the vermiposter with fresh food scraps and sprinkled around some water to help revive them from their journey. A few days later, I took a peek - WOW! These guys are plowing through the scraps and creating lots of good castings and "worm juice" for use in my garden and on my container plants. I would definitely recommend Gardeners Supply as a reliable source for red worms!

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
As a gardener and fishing fan, I love that I can get my kitchen scraps and such ecologically composted nor having to buy bait!
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Just starting to compost. Glad to receive worms.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We made the mistake of ordering worms from another source one year, and they arrived mostly dead, stinking to high heaven. Worms are supposed to be the composters, not the compost! The worms from Gardeners' Supply are always healthy, plentiful, and eager to eat. This year we ordered some for us and some for friends.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
I got red wigglers and they are doing well, I just got a two pound bag of worms and dirt and didn't get as many worms as I understood.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We have been worm composting for about 3 years and the final product is so worth the time. With kids they enjoy feeding the worms which make it fun for them also. The final product is great for side dressing plants and adding to potting soil!
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
The worms were packaged very well; I'm pretty sure that every single one of them arrived alive. If you decide to buy these little guys, be sure to have their home ready well in advance. I had their home waiting for them for two weeks before they got to me, but once they came, they settled in nicely (thanks to the coir bedding). Now they are hungry, happy, gaining weight, getting ready to reproduce and turning my household waste into completely green plant food! Well worth the money[...]

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Because there was no odor other than the woodsy smell of the leaves that we covered the kitchen waste with, a composting container with red wigglers was a perfect addition to our elementary classroom science table. The cafeteria was able to compost leftover salad and fruit, and students experienced hands on learning with recycling and life cycles, not to mention worm behavior!
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
[...]Worms were wiggling and looking for cover when put in home-made composter; Very pleased with the whole process and GS. I chose GS after looking at various vendors for Worms, and chose them due to their reputation and positive comments here. Thanks GS!

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We place the product into garbage to break it down into mulch. The worms enjoy their work and do it well. They seem to form intimate relationships easily which can be a negative because we can't use the mulch without breaking up hundreds of families. This is in conflict with our social work profession so we may lose some sleep. But every spring we somehow overcome the guilt.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Healthy, hungry bunch that do what they were hired to do: produce great fertilizer.
Entertain the young neighborhood kids!
Can't underdstand why it is not used more widely.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
I wasn't really confident about purchasing live worms from mail-order but the online catalog assured me I would be more than satisfied, so I took the plunge. The package arrived during the hottest weather on record for this part of the country and I was sure there would be worm casualties, but lo and behold, I received a cool, well-insulated bag of swirling earth that I just emptied into my worm bin (already laid with a 2inch bed of water-misted shredded paper) along with a few bits of kitchen scraps and coffee grounds (we're near Seattle, after all!) And WOW! The next day I could see activity...the scraps were smaller and worms were scattered between the bits. It's been several weeks now and I have lots of fresh, almost-composted earth to add to our new raised-bed veggie garden...whoopie!!!! Buy these worms with confidence!!!
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
What a great purchase! We didn't really have extra $$ to spend but glad we spent it on this. We're recycling, growing our own food and the kids love to show off their worm bin. Only negative--knowing how to aerate to keep the right moisture level has been a challenge in our coastal climate.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Ordered these red wigglers for our county fair. We had kids decorate worm bins and they got some of the worms to get started composting. The bins were gone in one day and the worms were the hit of the area.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Do not have much space in my garden for a traditional compost pile, but the red wigglers are doing the job for me in my garage. I made my own composting bin out of an old plastic storage bin and made it light-proof with aluminum foil, making holes in the foil as well as the plastic for ventilation.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We used this to teach our kids how to compost. The worms produce great compost and it's been a fun project for our kids and the kids in the neighborhood. Beware - they do try to escape out the bottom. Make sure you have a catch bin.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
It was exactly what I was hoping for. The worms arrived well packaged, healthy and active. I've had them for 7 or 8 weeks now and they are reproducing and turning my vegetable scraps into black gold.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
The worms seem to be happy. They are multiplying and doing a great job.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
So far I have only fed my worms food that is easy to digest--coffee grounds, shredded paper, pulp from juicing carrots. They manage to process about a cup of scraps per week, which is much more quickly than I expected. They arrived in very good shape and were moving around their bin in my worm farm within the same day they arrived.

Very impressed and its fun to. Grandkids are facinated and can't wait to check the worm farm the see the progres. Good teaching tool for future gardeners.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
We have just started this worm bin about 3 months ago, never used one before. We keep it down in the basement, no smell and no noise. I can now put in a hand full of kitchen scraps every week. Soon we will be converting all of our organic material into compost. This is so great and easy, anyone can do this and everyone should.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
[...] they were alive, healthy, and hungry. [...]I'm by all measures a beginner, and I had a few false starts that led to suicidal worms crawling up out of the bin I had made for them and flinging themselves onto my basement floor. The first was that I began with a clear bin. The basement is dim, but the light still bothered the worms enough that they looked for a dark place to hide. I replaced the bin with a large, opaque Rubbermaid-style bin I got for four bucks at our local big box store and drilled plenty of 1/3" holes with a cordless drill for air.The second issue was that the bedding we used was insufficient. We had used shredded newsprint but I suspect it was too damp after our scraps started to decompose, driving the worms for drier land. Another clue was a mild smell was starting to develop; a well-kept worm bin produces no smell. To fix that I replaced the bedding with peat moss and haven't looked back. I was surprised at how cheap the peat moss was. The shredded newsprint doesn't hold a candle. In the past week I haven't had a single escapee. We keep a large plastic coffee can in the kitchen that we fill with scraps and we toss it in every weekend. The bin has made cleaning out the fridge fun instead of a chore. Every wilted head of romaine and bunch of grapes past its prime is looked at as a very special treats for my basement-dwelling friends.Even with the few worms dying at the beginning, the population has remained healthy and every once in a while I will spot egg cases and little tiny baby worms. Given how well the population did under poor conditions, now that the bin is comfortable I expect the population to do well. Finally, although I don't have to, I will periodically root through the bin to see how active the worms are. It's pretty cool to turn over an apple core and see three dozen worms wriggling on the underside. Worms are just plain neat.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
The red wigglers arrived healthy and rarin' to go. The have multiplied rapidly and are eating more than predicted after only three months. They are fun and easy to have around. It's a good education project for kids that want to learn about recycling, organic gardening, composting and gardening.
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
I think this is a fabulous idea--and the worms are working hard, but we have so much to be composted, especially in the summer, that I have a hard time limiting what I give them to 1/2 pound per day.
I also haven't been able to get the three layers of the worm bin to work quite properly (due to over-feeding perhaps). I don't know how to manage the shrinking layers--add more fresh stuff? More paper? Harvest the compost at that point? Dump two layers together and begin another fresh one on top? I keep experimenting--and so far have not killed the worms.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
When I got my worms, two summers ago they grew like weeds, but I got a job transfer and they were left on their own for months. I thought they would have to be repaced this Spring. Was I ever surprised, they made it through long dry period with no added food supply and have rebounded this summer. In addition to processing more and more kitchen and garden waste for soil renewal, with the summer rains, I am getting a regular supply of worm tea that my garden loves. It's natural, free and better than any chemical made by man!

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
My friends tease me about my "wormies." I feed them uneaten cat food, coffee grinds, and vegetable scraps. (I used to dig these into the soil, but the ground freezes in winter here in upstate New York, so I needed another plan.) I keep them in my kitchen (for my convenience). My house plants love the compost! It's fun seeing the "baby worms."
Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
My husband thought I was nuts spending money on worms. But when he saw how much faster our compost pile was breaking down, he was a convert! We have happy little wigglers and beautiful compost that is now enriching our vegetable garden.

Comments about Red Wiggler Worms:
Instructions could improve. Always bury food scraps under bedding such as wet/shredded newspaper or coir to avoid maggots/flies.
