I have high hopes for leaf mold next year, but broke two of the stakes installing it. Stronger stakes would be nice, at least for Connecticut's hard and rocky soil.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
I was quite disappointed when I opened the package seeing that it was merely rolled up plastic with 4 of those green very thin tomato stakes. I was more disappointed when I put those stakes through and into the ground and found that only about 3 inches of them went into the ground. Convinced that the slightest breeze would toss it like Auntie Em's house in a twister, I bought 4 thicker 6ft tomato stakes of better quality. The bin weathered the remnants of tropical storm Ida without a problem. Ida would have tore it up with those other stakes.
As far as how well it makes compost, I could let you know by next spring. Seems to be doing its thing so far after a few short weeks. However, like similar bins that require manual aeration, it is difficult to reach down and turn the material even with a longer garden tool.
If you need alot of compost and can handle the aerating, then this bin may be for you. It is indeed more than big enough for my size garden and can be sized to what you need.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
I was in need of leaf mold for my garden. Since I had moved from a rural area to a town, the ability to get leaf mold was unobtainable. Therefore, when I was brousing through the Garden's supply catalogue, I came across an inexpensive composter. It appeared to be sturdy and easy to assemble. As it turns out, the day I decided to assemble the composter was rather windy. I was able to put the composter together myself. I was also able to place all the leaves from my yard into the composter. Additionally I have been adding kitchen scraps. The scraps are mostly tea bags, fruit and vegetable peelings, and coffee grounds. The composter fits neatly between my garage and shed. If I want to move the composter in the future, it will be very easy. I also purchased at the same time the compost aid. I have not had the composter long enough to comment on the quickness of the leaves, etc. breaking down into compost. I am very proud of my composter.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
The concept of this leaf composter is good. However, the stakes provided with it are useless. The stakes are not long enough, nor do the clips on the stakes work at all. The composter stands up only if there are enough leaves in it to hold it up.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
I am just starting, so I cannot give it a complete review. It is now half-full with leaves and coffee grounds.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
As noted in my review of the bin alone, the clips which attach the bin to the rods are flimsy and break. You need to design and produce a better attachment. The bin itself is large and flexible and easy to set up. It is too soon to evaluate the compost booster compound. I've added it to one of my two bins to see how much of a difference it makes as to how quickly the leaves decompose.
Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
the stakes are flimsy and the clips broke easily.
i drove the stakes past the top and used zip ties.
what really bother me is the 6 plastic bolts/nuts/washer sets,i didn't expand the circle to the maximum diameter as suggested by instructions and i wish there was more bolts in which to bolt together both sides of the overlap. at this price the clips and stakes could had been sturdier.

Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
The product wasn't difficult to assemble, except for putting in the poles to keep the product open- I broke one. It expands to hold lots of leaves.
I bought a second one to be ready for spring clean-up.

Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
Bought for a holding bin for fall leaves to use with the Pyramid Composter. This is first season for use of this product. Great size; I like the adjustability. The clips on the stakes broke during assembly but cable ties are an easy fix. This stake arrangement needs to be improved. Overall I'm pleased. Think it will do exactly what I need.

Comments about Leaf Mold Savings Kit:
While I am generally pleased with the product, I agree with the other reviewers who have said that the stakes are flimsy. The clips at the top of them broke off immediately when I tried to attach them to the composter. They need to create a different mechanism for attaching the stakes to the plastic container.
