Scrolled handles and a lovely blue glaze make this rustic ceramic crock a pretty addition to your countertop. Glazed inside and out, the crock won't stain or absorb food odors, and it has an activated-carbon filter to trap odors.

I'm a tea lover and a pottery lover. This lovely pot fits with my unique local pottery pieces. I'm still starting out, but thus far I'm loving it!

Makes scrap collection easy
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This is as beautiful as it is functional. It is a gorgeous blue/green color. It is easy to use and to remove the bag liners. I didn't want to have to worry about cleaning it so I also bought the bags. It was a wise choice for me. I simply pull out the bag and walk it to the compost pile. There isn't an issue odors and yes I have the easter eggs in there. There also isn't a concern with fruit flies. The odor filters are great and I cannot say enough about this choice. I am extremely pleased.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
The color of the crock I received has a greenish tint not the dark blue shown. This worked out well as I was afraid it would be too dark of a blue.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This compost crock takes up no more room than a large coffee can and holds at least two weeks of scraps generated by my kitchen. I have had many compliments on this addition to my countertop from visitors to my kitchen, and have recommended this product to everyone who asks.

Prominent placement next to the sink and attractive look prevent my family from throwing biodegradable kitchen scraps into the garbage, thus allowing me to feed my outdoor compost spinner weekly with lots of good stuff!

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
It is green instead of blue, but it still
is attractive and looks as if it belongs
on our counter. Easy to carry to the compost
pile.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Great for those coffee grounds; as well as the other kitchen scraps that normally go down the garbage disposal. No odor (get the filters and bags to make your life easier) and holds a great deal. Need the compost as I'm in an area where it is not readily available. Beautiful container - no one realizes until they see me use it.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This compost crock looks great on my counter. Friends and family think it looks like a cookie jar.
I was using an ice cream bucket that I kept under the sink. This was a birthday present for myself. I wish I had known about your company long before now. I highly recommend this product.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Just like the previous comments said, darker than the picture. Sure beats the bowl that was a breeding ground for fruit flies on my counter!

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Nice looking crock, but it isn't symetrical - the bottom is not straight so the crock doesn't sit flat on the counter, it rocks. Just plain poor workmanship.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
The color is perfect for my kitchen; there is no odor; the capacity is more than sufficient for my family of 4 for about a week's worth of kitchen scraps. Highly recommend it.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I prefer to use the compost bags so I can carry it out to the compost pile easy. when you try to take the bag out of the jar, there is a lip around the top that makes it very hard to get the bag out. It usually rips before you get it out. I don't recommend this for ease of use.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
We received our crock one week ago and are very pleased with it already. I will confirm the many remarks regarding the color - it is a much deeper blue with rich brownish accents than the picture portrays. For us, however, this did not impact our decor or opinion and I actually prefer it. We have a tiny kitchen and were excited to have a container that is attractive enough to leave on the counter. We just had a couple of friends over and they even remarked on the "neat jar" on the counter, not realizing it was for compost. They were very impressed when we popped it open and dropped some cabbage scraps into it.
The size is great and we have already emptied it twice into our compost bin. Unlike previous containers we have used/come up with, we have not smelled the slightest hint of odor from this crock - the filter really appears to work as advertised.
My only suggestion is to avoid over filling it. As someone else mentioned, due to the shape, you may have trouble removing the bag and contents if you stuff it tightly. On my second emptying, I simply allowed it to fill a bit less and did not have any problems removing the bag. This is a small price to pay, in my opinion, for an attractive container.
I would purchase this container again and recommend it to anyone seeking an attractive and functional compost crock.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
looks better in my kitchen than on the picture very useful i used to use and empty milk container under my sink which did not get as much use
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
The pail is just the right size to handle a good quantity of scraps before needing to be taken to the pile. The filter does just what it's supposed to do .......... eliminate odor between emptying. I can put the pail out on the counter or put under the sink, whichever I choose; the choice is a big plus. I broke my first pail, and I'm even happier with this one, so all things worked out for this purchase.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Two objections to this product: first, and most disappointingly, it didn't match the color shown in the photograph (more dark blue than teal), and the lid was another color entirely (a very light blue-grey), but I didn't have the time or energy to return it; second, the opening of the jar is narrower than the bottom, so you have to really tug at the compost bag to get it out (which runs the risk of breaking the bag). I like having a ceramic container instead of the tupperware bowl I was using, but if I'd seen this in the store as is I wouldn't have bought it.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Attractive enough to stay on the kitchen counter. Large enough to mean fewer trips to the compost pile than with my "cookie jar" pot which finally broke. With filter, ordor free.
Not sure yet about the long-term use of the filters--haven't had the pot for a long time--but have rinsed the filter by hand--easy. Based on other comments I was prepared for some variation in color from the photo, but it was closer to what I wanted than being unacceptable.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I purchased this Compost Jar as a Thank You gift for pet sitters knowing it would match their kitchen décor and hoping they would start the green movement of composting. It's the most beautiful pottery color I've ever seen. They were so thrilled with the item, that they sent me a "Thank You". And here I have just a plain Jane white jar!
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Attractive container for food scraps.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I was prepared for this to be less blue than the picture due to others' comments, but it's a very pretty blue, looks great, and seems to hold more than other ceramic crocks that friends have. I'm really happy with it.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This is real decorative and I bought an extra one for a friend who is currently using a plastic coffee container.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I love this product it is perfect for my use. I love to cook and I love having it on my kitchen counter. It is beautiful and functional.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I used to have a translucent plastic covered container for compost. It worked but was not very attractive on my counter. When company arrived, I would hide it under the sink, which was self defeating! When I saw the Tuscan crock I was thrilled. My dishes are all handmade stoneware and the look of it was perfect with all my dishes. (Bonus was that the color matched my kitchen wall color). Size is perfect and there is no odor at all. I am very happy with it and am planning to purchase others as gifts.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This is such a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It holds lots of scraps and I haven't had any odor issues. And it looks great sitting on the counter.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This is going back to GS. The photo makes it out to be blue, but it is actually a very drab gray (with maybe a hint of blue). I was really embarrassed because I bought it for a gift; the moment I saw it, I knew it would need to be returned. :(
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I use the crock for kitchen scraps. I wish the crock had been more slate blue, like the picture showed. I don't think it is glazed very well. I paid [$] for it an then next time I went on line it was [...] was very disappointed.Louise Foiles
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I use it on my countertop next to my coffee pot and fruit bowl. It's beautiful! The fact that it's a functional composter is so cool! I love it. It's the most attractive one I found anywhere. I am a decorator/designer so I'm very picky. You will not be disappointed with this one.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
This compost container looks beautiful out on my counter top. Other containers just seemed too modern for my old house. This one has an "old world" look to it. It also seems to have a larger capacity than others I've seen. So far it has been odor free. I use it with the bio bags, but the jury is out yet on how well they decompose. This particular container wasn't advertised in the catalogue; I came across it by accident on the web site - and I'm very happy I did.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I had initially thought it was a bit too large. But after using it I find it is just right for my kitchen countertop.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
save coffee grounds and kitchen scraps for compost

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
The filter needs to be a bit larger or some sort of edge could be added to the lid to stop the filter from falling into the compost.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I expected the bottom to have rounded corners for easy cleaning. The actual product has sharp corners at the bottom which trap waste particles making the crock hard to clean after emptying.
Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
I especially liked the size and look for my kitchen counter.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:
Very pretty looks good in kitchen. nice capacity. Just wish the filter fit better, it falls out when I open the lid. Have not been using it long enough to see how fast things break down, but there is no odor or fruit flies so far.
