Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

This is as beautiful as it is functional. It is a gorgeous blue/green color. It is easy to use and to remove the bag liners. I didn't want to have to worry about cleaning it so I also bought the bags. It was a wise choice for me. I simply pull out the bag and walk it to the compost pile. There isn't an issue odors and yes I have the easter eggs in there. There also isn't a concern with fruit flies. The odor filters are great and I cannot say enough about this choice. I am extremely pleased.

Great for those coffee grounds; as well as the other kitchen scraps that normally go down the garbage disposal. No odor (get the filters and bags to make your life easier) and holds a great deal. Need the compost as I'm in an area where it is not readily available. Beautiful container - no one realizes until they see me use it.

I prefer to use the compost bags so I can carry it out to the compost pile easy. when you try to take the bag out of the jar, there is a lip around the top that makes it very hard to get the bag out. It usually rips before you get it out. I don't recommend this for ease of use.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

We received our crock one week ago and are very pleased with it already. I will confirm the many remarks regarding the color - it is a much deeper blue with rich brownish accents than the picture portrays. For us, however, this did not impact our decor or opinion and I actually prefer it. We have a tiny kitchen and were excited to have a container that is attractive enough to leave on the counter. We just had a couple of friends over and they even remarked on the "neat jar" on the counter, not realizing it was for compost. They were very impressed when we popped it open and dropped some cabbage scraps into it.

The size is great and we have already emptied it twice into our compost bin. Unlike previous containers we have used/come up with, we have not smelled the slightest hint of odor from this crock - the filter really appears to work as advertised.

My only suggestion is to avoid over filling it. As someone else mentioned, due to the shape, you may have trouble removing the bag and contents if you stuff it tightly. On my second emptying, I simply allowed it to fill a bit less and did not have any problems removing the bag. This is a small price to pay, in my opinion, for an attractive container.

I would purchase this container again and recommend it to anyone seeking an attractive and functional compost crock.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

The pail is just the right size to handle a good quantity of scraps before needing to be taken to the pile. The filter does just what it's supposed to do .......... eliminate odor between emptying. I can put the pail out on the counter or put under the sink, whichever I choose; the choice is a big plus. I broke my first pail, and I'm even happier with this one, so all things worked out for this purchase.

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

Two objections to this product: first, and most disappointingly, it didn't match the color shown in the photograph (more dark blue than teal), and the lid was another color entirely (a very light blue-grey), but I didn't have the time or energy to return it; second, the opening of the jar is narrower than the bottom, so you have to really tug at the compost bag to get it out (which runs the risk of breaking the bag). I like having a ceramic container instead of the tupperware bowl I was using, but if I'd seen this in the store as is I wouldn't have bought it.

Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

Attractive enough to stay on the kitchen counter. Large enough to mean fewer trips to the compost pile than with my "cookie jar" pot which finally broke. With filter, ordor free.
Not sure yet about the long-term use of the filters--haven't had the pot for a long time--but have rinsed the filter by hand--easy. Based on other comments I was prepared for some variation in color from the photo, but it was closer to what I wanted than being unacceptable.

I used to have a translucent plastic covered container for compost. It worked but was not very attractive on my counter. When company arrived, I would hide it under the sink, which was self defeating! When I saw the Tuscan crock I was thrilled. My dishes are all handmade stoneware and the look of it was perfect with all my dishes. (Bonus was that the color matched my kitchen wall color). Size is perfect and there is no odor at all. Comments about Tuscan Compost Crock:

This compost container looks beautiful out on my counter top. Other containers just seemed too modern for my old house. This one has an "old world" look to it. It also seems to have a larger capacity than others I've seen. So far it has been odor free. I use it with the bio bags, but the jury is out yet on how well they decompose. This particular container wasn't advertised in the catalogue; I came across it by accident on the web site - and I'm very happy I did.
