My husband and I are very happy with our decision to buy this compost pail. We didn't feel like we needed to get something with a filter - we wanted something attractive and simple. We haven't had any issues with odor, and the pail is large enough that we don't have to empty it every day. And it looks fabulous on our kitchen counter. We highly recommend this - you don't be disappointed!!

We use this pail to collect our kitchen scraps and later take them to a compost pile. We looked at many different containers on line. This one is simple, attractive and holds a lot. We have had no problem with odor. The design is simple and has no breakable parts. It goes well with our kitchen appliances. The opening is wide. While cooking, we just place the container on the counter and throw the scraps in. Simple is best.

This is very attractive on the counter. The size is right for a moderate amount of scarps but if you have a large family it would be too small.
It did develop a rust spot on the bottom where it was sitting in water. Not sure how much it will rust in the future.
Great addition to my kitchen.

I have added much more to an existing compost bin since placing this is my kitchen. On the negative side, my husband needed to tap the pail to make it round and for it to accept the lid. In retrospect I would buy a product where the lid fits snugly. The lip on this lid is very shallow.

Looked terrific in the kitchen. But it developed a small crack up the side within a couple of weeks. About another week and it developed a second crack, and the first crack had lengthened and widened to make it unusable. Weird because it doesn't have seams - the cracks just appeared in the metal.

In the realm of Unintended Uses, this is a great value in a milking pail for a small ruminant, in our case a goat. After nearly a year of use, and daily washing/decontamination in the dishwasher, the pail has no rust and only a little interior discoloration. The snug lid minimizes contamination of the bucket before and after milking. Another stainless steel pail -- sold by a dairy supplier -- suffers by comparison, and we just bought a second of these socalled compost pails. For all the same reasons, it probably makes a great compost pail (our brass compost pail is greening, and hard to clean), but consider other uses for bug-resistant and rodent-proof food storage.

After looking at many different compost pails and reading consumer comments, I decided to give this one a try. A few people mentioned that the lid does not have an air-tight seal, but we line the pail with biodegradable bags (for ease of disposal and quick clean-up) and have found these to aid in a snug fit. There is no detectable odor, and having struggled with ill-fitting screw-top lids on gallon size pickle jars for years, it's such a pleasure to just lift the lid for disposal of coffee grounds, banana peels, vegetable parings, etc. I like the large capacity, which minimizes the number of trips to our compost pile at the bottom of a hill, and it fits neatly in the cabinet under the sink.

I wish it was a little smaller to fit conveniently on my counter. It is larger than I need because I just use it to keep my kitchen scraps in, until I can't dump it in my compost pile. I suppose if I had a family, it would fill up faster. I like the fact that I'm not putting the scraps in a plastic bag, that causes an odor. The scraps don't smell in this pail and the stainless steel is easy to rinse out and clean.

I purchased two in order to solve two separate problems. 1) The need to easily accumulate kitchen scraps. 2) The problem of accumulating material that should not go into ordinary waste cans around the house because of obnoxius odors.
The two problems were solved by the tight fitting lids of the pails and have saved a lot of fussing and fuming over composting and sanitation.

Using vegetable waste to improve my garden rather than putting it in the landfill is a win-win, my garden is improved and the landfill is a little less full.
The stainless steel is durable, easy to clean and attractive and will last a lifetime.
It makes a wonderful gift.
Thanks for supplying a superior product.

EVERY BIT OF KITCHEN WASTE THAT IS NOT MEAT GOES INTO THIS CONTAINER. IT'S BETTER THAN A PLASTIC MODEL WITH CHARCOAL FILTER THAT I USED PREVIOUSLY, WHICH ALLOWED FRUIT FLIES TO ENTER AND LAY EGGS!

We set it up in the kitchen and put all our scraps in it - including coffee grounds. Once a week we just toss the bag into the composter and away it goes. Its easy and non-obtrusive in the kitchen - will fit in the refig if necessary

I use this product everyday. I have used other compost pails and they retain the odors and stain. The only thing that I would change about it--it should be a little larger.

Looks good, ample capacity, easy to clean. Haven't noticed any odors. It really simplifies kitchen cleanup after meal preparation. It's easy to toss the parings into the pail, and transfer the contents to the outdoor compost pile every now and then. It's very satisfying to know all that good organic stuff isn't going to waste in a bag in a landfill!
