Any body that eats ought to compost but having a large system is not practical for seniors. THe compost bags makes it quick, easy and neat. It does not require large pieces of equipment nor large spaces: just a shovel and a plot of ground to bury the full bag.

I have a compost container on my kitchen counter all year long. Often the contents of the container start to liquify before the container is full, making emptying and cleaning the container a messy job. With the BioBags, I can lift the entire bag from the container and throw into my large garden composter without the mess.

Comments about BioBags™:

2 years ago I purchased your biobag "fully compostable and biodegradable" and have used them daily since. Imagine my surprise when I open my composter this past week to empty it into my vegetable garden and find every single biobag I used in my compost NOT "fully compostable and biodegradable"! I have been a customer for many years and am extremely disappointed in this product's performance. I will not use the bags that are left...I will probably throw them in the landfill with the others that did not do as purported to do.

Previously, I either had to wash out the kitchen compost bin or use shopping bags that got messy and had to be thrown away. Now, with the biobag, I just toss the kitchen scraps into the composter, bag and all. Couldn't be easier or cleaner!

I like these bags. I take the kitchen compost out to the yard once or twice a week. The bags hold up well during this time span. I did have an issue with tearing a new bag, trying to separate it from the bundle, but that only happened once. I've tossed 4-5 in the composter and only the most recent bags have not decomposed.

Comments about BioBags™:

These bags have a large capacity and work well with the crock compost pot. I am on my second batch of 100 and will continue to purchase. They hold up much better to wet (like coffee grounds) than I had expected. On the occasion where the bag tore upon removal or leaked from too much wet scraps, I just carried the whole pot to the compost pile and dumped it there. I used to line the compost pot with paper towels to make the removal of the compost easy, but the bags work much better. I would recommend this product.

Comments about BioBags™:

These bags are so nice! They fit perfectly in the galvanized compost bucket, and they make it so easy to take all the compostable materials outside. I don't even want to think about having to clean the bucket each time I empty it, and I'm glad I haven't had to yet. Some condensation collects between the bag and the bucket, but it wipes right off with a paper towel and hasn't affected the strength of the bag at all. I don't love the price, but I'm sure enjoying them.

I love the biobags that I use in my compost bin under the sink. The best part is when it's full I just lift out the bag and take it out to my composter in the garden. The only problem I had was cantaloupe seeds/rind did leak. So next time I'll have to take it directly to the garden instead of waiting a day or two.

Comments about BioBags™:

I've only had these bags for a month, so I am not sure how easily they'll decompose, but otherwise they do what they're supposed to. They're very thin so you have to be careful what you put in them. If you don't have a "scraps" container with a lid, just twist them shut to keep the fruit flies out. So far, I really like these bags.

Comments about BioBags™:

These bags are somewhat disappointing. They leak and tend to slip down into the compost pail. They do help reduce the cleaning of the pail and if you put a rubber band around the outside of the pail and bag the bag won't slip. They do compose but very slowly in an open pile. Not for tumbler composer.

Comments about BioBags™:

You would think composts quickly would be a PRO but since I use them to line my indoor scrap collector by day 3 or 4 it already started to degrade before I could get it outside to the compost bin. It dripped on the floor in the kitchen......Gross! I know to change every 2 days or so, but it might get expensive buying that many bags.

Comments about BioBags™:

The only Con would be that you cannot leave items in the full container with the liner for an extended time. The liner will eventually begin to break down. Take the container with the liner to the compost pile, thus preventing a mess on the floor.

Too soon to tell if these compost easily. They are a little delicate and they stick together when you unroll the first back. That made some holes but since they cost about [$] per bag, I just tied knots in the bag and used it anyway.

Comments about BioBags™:

My daughter in law gave me the counter pail for Christmas a year ago. I promptly ordered the bio bags. After using several and puting them in the compost pile, I still have them when I turn the compost in my compost tumbler. Do I need a large compost pile to get hot enough to disolve the bags?
Also, I let the kitchen scraps stay in the counter pail for several weeks last year. Since there was no odor and I wasn't cooking much, I forgot them. The scraps got maggots and some of the maggots were embedded in the filter.

At least for me, the bags are not an alternative to putting my kitchen scraps in a plastic container in which strawberries came from the store. I then take the scraps out every other day. Coffee grounds go in a large old coffee container and are taken out to the compost pile weekly.

I don't have a fancy compost container near the sink and the bag is too big for mine. I usually cut off about 4" which I hate to waste when they are expensive. It would be nice if the manufacturer offered more than one size. But I like the fact that they do disintegrate eventually, although in our dry climate it takes a while.
Over all, I find the products in your catalog too expensive for me, but they sure are pretty.

I love these for keeping my counter top compost bucket clean and odor free, but they will not degrade in my outdoor compost bin. These bags are really nice. They fit the kitchen compost pail well. It's nice not to have to throw out the old plastic grocery bags I was using. I can't comment on the biogradability of the bag since I haven't used my compost yet. That's why I only gave it 4 stars.

I got a Stainless Steel Compost Bucket and these bags together. I should have done this years ago! The bags keep the bucket clean. There are two in this household and one bag usually holds about a week's worth of scraps for us. When I tie it up and take to the compost bin, I just have to wipe the inside of the bucket with a paper towel to get the mild moisture build up. Neat and clean and easy! I thought they were too expensive at first, but seeing how well they work has made me a customer for life. My only complaint is that the perforations between bags are not adequate. I end up cutting the bags apart with scissors to keep from tearing them. They ARE too expensive to waste any!

A much-needed "green" solution for household waste -- anything organic can just go into a BioBag spread like a trash bag inside a small waste container, then be dumped into an outdoor mulch spot (or into a receptacle for curbside organic waste pickup, for those areas that have such), bag and all. They will begin to leak fluid sometimes if they have a week's worth of food scraps / coffee grounds in them -- but that is because of its biodegradable nature! Thank you for making this product available.

These make composting kitchen scraps a snap and not messy!!! Do be careful tearing them off the roll, these are not plastic kitchen trash bags, so can split easily. Comments about BioBags™:

I use these bags in my kitchen compost crock and they fit the container well and are very convenient. However, I've had two or three break on me when I lifted them out which was nasty (I've used about 100 so far). My main issue with them is that they don't biodegrade very fast. When my compost is ready the bags are still virtually intact inside my compost tumbler. So now I only use them in the spring and summer when the compost matures faster.

Cons:
Leaks
Best Uses:

Comments about BioBags™:

This product was better when they were the opaque color. When they changed them to the green color, they tear so easily that you have to be careful just infolding and getting them ready to put into your pail. They still work well and I use them all the time, but they were stronger before.

I use them in a compost pail under the sink. I like the fact that they are made in Norway.
I also like that I can throw the whole bag into the compost pile and it will dissapear with the rest of the stuff--sometimes I just bury the whole thing into the garden soil.
The only thing I can say bad is that sometimes it leaks--but you carry your pail out anyway.

I line my kitchen compost bin with these. When they work well I can just lift them out and carry them to the compost bin and just dig them in. Sometimes they leak (or possibly condensation forms on the outside). Occasionally they tear when I'm removing them from the roll. Other than the waste this is not a big issue. Overall I find using them much easier than carrying out the pail each time. My husband thinks they degrade too slowly and empties them and puts them in the garbage. Note: because of the occasional leakage the pail does need to be washed frequently.

Comments about BioBags™:

Great for lining the kitchen compost pail and does really eliminate scrubbing. Just rinse the pail and dry before inserting a fresh bag. The fact that the bag top needs to hang over the outside of the compost pail is a little untidy looking but it is worth it. Rate of breakdown of the bag in the outdoor compost seems to be related closely to the moisture level and temperature of the pile (more is better).

I love the idea. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not. The bags tear easily when trying to remove one from the roll so care must be taken not to ruin it. Don't over stuff your compost pail and it works well. I love it when I can take it out without the pail but I usually don't due to leaking. It often depends on what you put in the bag. I suggest crushing egg shells before putting them in the bag. My pail does not get emptied everyday and that probably makes a difference.

I use these bags to contain all kinds of kitchen scraps in my compost pail. It does a great job of containing everything, including liquids, without breaking down in the pail. They will take a few weeks to break down once you move them to the compost pile, FYI. Great product!

less messy compost bucket

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Comments about BioBags™:

The best thing about these bags is I no longer have compost clinging on my compost bucket, which makes washing the bucket much nicer. There is always liquid in the bottom, maybe from condensation or leaking, but that's not a problem in my mind. They also break down well in our compost building. You have to be a bit careful when tearing it off the roll, or it may rip.

I keep a bio-bag in my compost pail at all times. They are the best thing since "sliced bread"--they hold up well, do not leak and can be lifted out to the compost pile and or composter without any mess. The bio-bag does not let any of the odors remain and permeate the plastic compost pail. Excellent product!!!!

I have a compost bucket or two but do not use them, as I keep a compost-Bio-Bag bag in the freezer. Add coffee grounds, fruit or veggie peelings, whatever you want in your compost pile, into the bag and place back into freezer. As the quick cold takes over, the new additions do not leak. When full, take out and toss onto compost pile. It will defrost onto the pile. I always add a few handfuls of dirt or other available compost on top to get things started.

I use these for fruit and veggie wastes from the kitchen, my unbleached coffee filter and grinds, egg shells, etc. I have had no trouble with leaking and it's wonderful to be able to pull the entire bag and toss it in the compost pile and not even have to wash my crock. I have a compost pile I started this fall that is active and turned it after two weeks and found no bags. The time saving of no mess in the kitchen to clean up make these worth the price.

We haven't had any seepage or breaking bags. We don't feel the bags are too flimsy, because any thicker would make breakdown longer. I like these bags to line my kitchen compost pail. The only problem I have with them is that if I throw coffee grounds into the pail and then I don't empty it within a few days it will leak coffee. It's not really a big deal to me though,I just carry the whole pail out to empty it and then rinse out my pail. Much better than no bag at all, and it is really quite durable otherwise, I don't think anyone can expect a compostable bag to hold in liquids for any period of time. I will continue to use these bags....!

As someone who eats a lot of veggies, I was glad to finally find an easy way to recycle kitchen scraps with little fuss or fanfare. The biodegradable liners for my counter-top composting container were ideal. My only negative comment has to do with the size of the bags. My counter-top container is small but the only liners I found online were twice the size. Other than that, good product.

I use the bags every day. They certainly are less messy and I can dump the entire contents of my compost bucket into the composter. However, as I stir compost I can still see bags which must have been there a long time. I wonder if they don't take a long, long time to degrade. That's fine, as long as they DO degrade. I'll continue to buy/use.

The first time I used one of these bage, I waited several days to take it to the composter. True to it's promise, it is definitely biodegradable. The bag had already started to "melt" and that one time I definitely had to wash out my bucket. Now I take my garbage, bag and all, out to the composter every day or two. It is really a time and work saver. I have been looking for a product of this type since I started composting a couple of years ago.

I've used these liner bags for years and like that they cut down on the mess from collecting compostable kitchen scraps. I don't find that it's true that there is no need to carry out the pail to the compost pile because the bags do leak once they are filled with scraps. However the fact that they are biodegradable certainly makes up for that.

I use the bio bags in a kitchen crock next to the kitchen sink. The bags work well most of the time, with occasional leaks. Seems if I remove / replace the bag every two or three days, the bags hold up better. They don't compost as quickly as I would like them too, though.

These bags are fine if you fill up your kitchen compost scrap container quickly, but if the scraps sit in the bag for a day or two, the bag itself begins to compost and leaks. I was very disappointed by this, as I thought the bags would be a great convenience. I would not buy these again.

Comments about BioBags™:

Does compost quickly so you need to change bags before they start leaking or if you add a lot of wet scraps; is odor free, holds a lot (preferably dry waste); I usually use two bags as one seems to tear off the roll and I sprinkled used baking soda in the bottom of the pail to catch any drips or leaks; I use the plastic pail attached to the inside of my under sink cabinet and it fills up quickly! MUCH better than plastic bags

These bags are handy; however, you will not want to put coffee grounds or other liquid stuff in them for a long period of time, because they do leak. I believe mostly due to their composting ability. Glad to find a bag that will decompose with the compost, I don't have to use the grocery store plastic bags and clutter our landfills. I just bought them this year so I have yet to see how well or quickly they decompose.

Comments about BioBags™:

I use these bags for kitchen waste - the bags leak. I have to carry them to the compost bin in my kitchen pail. There is always liquid in the bottom of my pail which really stinks!!! I empty this waste once per wk - and do not add liquids- the liquids come from the juices of veggies/fruits. I have to throughly wash the pail after each emptying due to leakage liquids.

Comments about BioBags™:

I have the green ceramic compost pail and use these bags religiously. It's SO nice to be able to grab the bag & toss it on our compost pile (though from a distance it looks like we're trying to compost diapers - the neighbors are confused!).
I've torn bags trying to yank them out. A little side-to-side wiggling will get them out intact - just don't pack everything down, trying to get as much as possible into each bag. It's not worth it.

Comments about BioBags™:

They make composting exceptionally easier, eliminating odor and fruit flies.I even had a visiting bear right next to my compost pail that didn't disturb it at all.
I use the BioBags for household waste baskets also.

Good News and Bad

Cons:
Difficult to Aerate, Leaks
Best Uses:
Kitchen Scraps
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about BioBags™:

Handy to use-and-toss, but they do drip a bit and the bag is way bigger than my foot-high kitchen compost pail, so that even when the pail is packed full, i seem to have about 50% too much "bag" for it when i go to toss it into my garden compost bin. Also it's hilarious how it gets wrapped around my winged compost aerator. Still, i'd rather deal with these minor "problems" than to be cleaning my little compost pail all the time. Glad i bought them!

Other than being difficult to open (at times), BioBags are truly wonderful. They are light weight but strong with tremendous capacity. They biodegrade reasonably and are inexpensive. You can't do much better than that.

I put the scraps from preparing a meal in the bag and stick it in the freezer til I'm ready to take it all, neatly packaged, to the compost bin. It's so convenient to add more until the bag is full. No mess, no smell, no handing rotting stuff! Just take the frozen bag to the bin, drop it in, and cover it up. These bags are great; I use it everyday and gave some to my daughter. Thanks for making it easy!

Very nice to not have to scrub out the compost bin after every use. But they do compost rather slowly, and we still see bits of bag left even when the compost itself is ready to use after many months.

By BillVerified Purchaser from Orange Beach, AL on 6/18/2010
Pros:
Capacity, Odor Free, Would like them in color

Comments about BioBags™:

Too early to tell yet as haven't turned compost to assure that BioBags are breaking down as advertised. Should know in another 4-6 weeks. Beginning is promising in kitchen. Would like them in color to match container crock if colorizing can be accomplished in bio-friendly manner (green color does not match my blue crock or kitchen decor base which is blue).

No more messy bowls of kitchen scraps to empty into the compost pile. I just pile up all yard waste and let it compost on its own and simply dig a hole and add the bag with kitchen scraps.

Comments about BioBags™:

I've been a life-long composter but one of the most "hated" jobs was cleaning the dirty, smelly pail I kept under the kitchen sink to collect kitchen scraps. So, when I saw the BioBags in your catalog, I ordered them immediately. Yes, the pail still has to be cleaned but it's no longer the dreaded job it once was. I'm amazed at how really strong the BioBags are. I've never had one tear. However, the user does need to guard against adding extremely liquid materials.

It can leak when there is alot of coffee grounds in there, and I fill it to the max. Other wise I love the bags, they are great and save me alot of time when I need to run my compost to the compost outside. Keeps things clean and nice in my kitchen.

Comments about BioBags™:

These bags work great. I've never had them break or leak before getting them to the compost bin. They're a good size so you don't have to run to the compost pile constantly, but not too big where you're tempted to wait too long and things get icky. Love that they compost right along with the scraps.
