    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

We like this composte pail. It sits under the sink without difficulty, and the carbon filter really keep the odors away. The pail did two things, (1) helps us compost and (2) get rid of stuff we didn't really need under the sink. I purchased one for my daughter and son-in-law. When I wanted to buy one for me, I didn't see it in your catalog. I bought your red crock for compost. It works well also.

This is a great product, good sized for a busy kitchen, fits under the counter. I think if you compost alot you'd be better off with a ceramic one, the plastic gets a little moldy, but if that doesn't bother you then this is perfect.

This is a good size, fits under my sink and is easy to carry out to my compost bin. I dont prefer the bio bag in it just because my coffee grounds seem to start it breaking down while in the bag. Otherwise it cleans up well and is great to use. I am very happy with it.

I was originally going to mount this to a cabinet door (as shown in the listing), but after a week of it sitting on the counter waiting for me to do so, I decided to just leave it there. It's pretty, and even with banana peels and all sorts of kitchen scraps in it, it's never smelled! The handle makes it easy to take down to the compost heap and dump.

The bio bags are a great addition to this, making it easier on the cleanup. Overall, simple, great product.

    Bottom Line:

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

This compost pail holds a tremendous amount of kitchen scraps; however, you need to immediately take the scraps out to your compost pile. If you bring home any fruit flies with your fresh fruit, the flies can easily enter the compost pail around the carbon filter. Once that happens, it's party time for the fruit flies.

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

Had one of these for years and the plastic finally cracked. We were so happy to find another one at Gardeners Supply to replace the old one. It is a great size, holds lots of scraps, easy to clean and the filter helps keeps the smells down. We use it in the kitchen as well as take it on the porch when making salsa or other things. Being plastic it's nice and light and don't have to worry about it breaking.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

I ordered this pail because I was tired of using a Tupperware container and wanted something with an easy to use lid. The first thing I noticed was that there is no seal around the lid closure, and that the "snap-lock" was less sturdy than the plastic tabs we child-proof our cabinets with. Within minutes of having a banana peel and cucumber ends put in, we had tons of fruit flies, and sure enough, they were crawling in and out of the gaps around the lid. Some were even crawling INTO the filter. I am returning this product today, and the worst part is my husband's "I told you so".

Easily hung this pail on the back of my sink cabinet door; very easy to hang it and lightweight, even when full. No smell or fruit flies yet; been using it for about a month & empty it just about weekly (2 person home).

Use for kitchen food scraps to compost to large outside compost pile. Small kitchen, so inside cabinet perfect. Was reusing salad container to compost so this is much better for odor & cleanliness. Only small problem is the filter insert is square for this composter, but most replacement filters are round & will need to be cut.

The one problem ive found is the container does not shut tight like a food container. The carbon filter works only too a point and it doesn't keep little bugs from entering. I really wish it would seal tight in the event it tiped over. Which has happened to me. What a mess!! If i could find a product like this i would buy.

I like it except I wish the lid came completely off, it's a pain when dumping into the compost heap because the lid often slaps downward, swinging into the stream of scraps you are tossing and getting all messy. Two little plastic parts that I think are meant to hold the handle in place popped off, but so far the handle has not fallen out. So I think it will be ok. Maybe I'll try it with the bags...

We wore out our original version of this compost pail. It can hold a week's worth of coffee grinds and kitchen scraps without smelling up the kitchen and rinse out in a snap! The only drawback to it is IF you DON"T snap the lid shut, you can grow a bumper crop of fruit flies, otherwise it lives up to keeping the kitchen free from pests and smells. It not a designer bucket, no bells and whistles, just a simple easy product!

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

I love the size of this compost pail. It takes us a couple of days to fill it whereas our old bin would have to go out several times a day. We haven't had any trouble with odors (the carbon filers are doing their job!). I also like that it's easy to open one-handed. We didn't use the mounting feature, so I'm not sure how well that works. I'd rate this a 5, but I don't know about long-term durability which is very important to me. It looks like it will hold up (unlike our last bin), but only time and use will tell.

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

I like the large capacity of this compost pail and the carbon filters work as I had hoped. My husband was always unhappy about seeing (and smelling) kitchen scraps in a makeshift container (such as a spring mix clamshell) in the kitchen. I didn't want a compost pail taking up counter space. So this under the sink pail with a carbon filter was the perfect answer. I'm glad that the lid snaps shut to prevent spills and to enable the filter to work well. The only thing I am unhappy about is that the item looked white in the catalog photo but the the color is a yellowish white. (I thought about sending it back because that's how much I dislike the color.) But I decided to keep it, figuring that for the most part it is out of sight and after a while I will probably not notice the color. I haven't hung it inside a cabinet door yet because we are about to remodel our kitchen, so we'll see how well that feature works!

My wise landlady is a master gardener. She seemed surprised with a gardening neophyte like me wanting to do kitchen composting. I would've just grabbed something locally or even a used paint bucket (I admit it), but she recommended your product and it is wonderful. No mess, no odor, and totes outside to the large recycling bins (curbside here in Northern California) without a whimper. Perhaps this Spring I'll move onto my next lesson, but this product is a winner.

This is a great compost pail. I've had mine for over a year and bought another for my father-in-law. Though I've never changed the carbon filter, I've never had a problem with odors escaping (I do empty it pretty regularly, and give it a quick soapy scrub after emptying it). The lid fits tightly and hasn't warped - shocking, considering we've stuffed it pretty full.

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

Our counter space is limited and we did not want a compose container, no matter how attractive or funtional it is, taking up needed space. Under the counter mounted on a cabinet door is ideal. It holds enough to be empted every 3 or 4 days into our garden compost bin and has no odor. PERFECT!

Nice capacity. Large enough for most families. One draw back is that fruit flies can get in. The carbon filter keeps order down. The great feature is that it is designed to hang on a cabinet door keeping it off the counter. Overall a good product.

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

The bucket is rather small, but for our 2-person family, we go to the compost pile only once a week. There is NO smell in the kitchen, but once I open the lid -- I do know what "Ive been missing!" I've been using plastic grocery bags while I'm looking for a green alternative, plus it is a real pain to empty the grocery bags once the scaps start going funny.

The bucket is somewhat on the expensive side for what it is (i.e. plastic, three parts) but I do not regret buying it a bit.

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

This pail is excellent. I like that it can be wall/door mounted and stashed out of sight. Got our old one off our counter, which gave us more counter space and less fruit flies.

The only issue I've found so far is the clips that hold the carry handle in place come out easily and I've had to dig them out of our composter (gross) a couple of times. Might just be able to take them off, as they don't seem to be needed to keep the handle attached.

We're vegetarian & produce a lot of fruit & veggie kitchen scraps that used to go in the trash. Now that we've started gardening we decided to start composting as well. All our kitchen scraps & coffee grounds now go right into the compost pail, which we keep under the sink. I was very skeptical about the 'odor-free' claim, but it really is odor-free. Once or twice a week we transfer the contents of the pail to our yard compost bin, bio-bag and all. Feels great to be doing something constructive with the scraps and reducing the amount of trash that gets hauled away.

I purchased this hoping it would work as promised, but nervous that it would not live up to expectations. Well, it works very well. Right now, I have a rotting onion, egg shells and some old fruit in the bin that I will be taking to my compost bin. With this handy pail, I can not smell a thing. I do use a bag in it because I was left with a little bit of a mess the first time I used it and needed to scrub the inside. (And, yes, I recycle the bag). There is no odor with this product. I've had scallions in there for a few days and, again, my kitchen remained odor-free. I highly recommend this product.

I got my first one as a gift, loved it! When I rebuilt my house after a fire, it was one of my first purchases for the new kitchen. Unfortunately, they do melt. We compost in an outside tumbler, and this little gem saved me many a trip in the cold to haul out coffee grinds and kitchen scraps. I highly recommend it, no smell, easy to clean, and very unobtrusive.

At first glance out of the box, I was upset I paid [$] for a plastic bucket. But after months of use, it works pretty darn good. Can put several days worth of kitchen scraps before need to bring out to outside compost. Purchased one for work , which needs a thick liner, not just a plastic shopping bag. Also bought one for a neighbor who was tired of having a bag of coffee grinds hanging from their sink cabinet, and they love it.

This pail is so convenient and handy to have right under the kitchen sink and off of the counter. For family use, the size is great; it is big enough so that you don't have to make a trip to the compost bin every day and small enough so that it can be out of sight. It is also very easy to clean. I haven't found the filters that useful as you have to empty the pail before it gets a chance to produce an odor. I use it with the biodegradable liners. I like it enough to have given one to a friend this past holiday season.

    Pros:
    Capacity, Larger than other crocks
    Cons:

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

I like the capacity of the pail and the biobags make emptying it easy. Be aware it doesn't seal, so the fruit flies in it were horrendous! However, odors were definitely under control with the filter. I also can't find square replacement filters in the catalog, only round.

    Pros:

    Ecological Waste Disposal, Reduce Reuse
    Describe Yourself:

    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

I can keep this on the counter and easily drop in egg shells, banana peels, etc. with one hand. The lid drops closed and then I can snap it shut. The flowers on the top are simple but make me smile every time I see them. It's easy to carry out to the compost bin and the trips are shorter because it holds SO much! Even during the intense summer heat there wasn't any odor. It is also super easy to clean...little bit of dish soap or some vinegar and baking soda.

    Best Uses:
Ecological Waste Disposal, Fruit Rinds, Vegetable peelings
    Describe Yourself:
    Avid Gardener
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Odor-Free Compost Pail:

Because we retired to a condo with gardening restrictions, this is the first time in 30 years we haven't had a backyard compost pile. I get around this limitation by saving scraps, then burying them uncomposted in the flower beds. The scraps simply disappear in our terrible clay soil, gradually improving it. Because my husband didn't like the bucket I was using (unattractive, no tight lid, odor and fruit flies), I gave him this compost pail for his birthday. Not romantic, but he's very happy with it.

I put it under the sink, right next to the garbage pail. No extra effort -- or counter space -- required to collect food scraps for composting. How easy is that?

I use Biobags (sold on this site) to make clean-up super fast and easy. Just dump full bag into compost pile outside, rinse pail, add new bag and I'm done.

I love my compost pail. It holds a lot of food scraps so there is no need to trek out to the compost pile to empty it after every meal like smaller countertop versions. The charcoal filters make it virtually odor-free. I re-use plastic produce bags to line the pail which makes clean-up a snap. I am on my second pail - I accidentally broke the lid off my first one but it still serves me well as a carry-all for my garden tools!

I don't know what I would do without this compost pail! I LOVE IT! I actually have purchased them for several friends who compost as well. It holds much more than it appears that it would. There are just two of us in our house, so it can take several weeks to fill, and we eat veggies quite often. The carbon filters work exceptionally well, and no odor ever escapes. I've owned this pail for over a year and a half now, and I think I've only changed the filter once! This pail is so handy!
