With a powder-coated steel frame and reinforced mesh bottom, this rugged sifter quickly separates uncomposted material from finished "black gold". It's even tough enough to screen sticks and stones out of garden soil.

I use pebble size stones at the bottom of containers for good drainage. When I reuse soil from containers to prepare them for the new season, it used to be difficult and time consuming to sort out the stones from the soil. Now I use this sieve and the stones are removed in a matter of seconds.
I also use it to sieve out uncomposted leaves from fine compost and dump it back in the compost bin.

I used this sifter all afternoon and I can not describe enough how satisfied I am with this low price tool for sifting compost. It is not heavy or hard on the body to use. I only wish I had purchased another one for my second compost pile.

I used this product this spring to sift the compost that had been been forming in my composters since last fall when I closed my garden. It did a good job of sifting out the unfinished materials, but it could probably have been a bit larger, so that I could have done the sifting a bit faster.

I would suggest a stand to hold it that would be sturdy enough to use in grinding product through sieve. My wife likes to roll dirt around to aereate and it's hard when you have to hold it and use your other hand to roll dirt/compost around. Should be able to fit in a wheelbarrel

I had a few homemade sieves before this so this one was quite an upgrade for me. Its sturdy construction is great to help us get through large piles of compost. Although I wish you could fit more material when sifting, it is a good size because otherwise it would be too heavy while shaking.
My only problems with it so far is that it started rusting on the inside seam. Maybe where the paint didn't stick? Regardless it seems like something a little shot of rustoleum can fix.

I didn't think I was going to get to start an asparagus bed this year, so when I got the chance I'd already used all my compost. What was in the compost bin hadn't had very much time to "cook", but I like to plant in a soil that is 1/3 compost, so I decided to try out my new compost sieve. To my surprise I ended up with five 5-gallon buckets full of beautiful compost – more than enough for the asparagus beds! Not only did the "cooked" compost sift right through, I was able to take out the things that didn't belong (pebbles I expected, but a shredded credit card????). Everything else (including several rather shaken worms) went back into the bin with some newly shredded leaves. In the month since I've harvested around eight more buckets. My mother (a master gardener) was so impressed with the results I actually bought one for her birthday/anniversary. She was thrilled!

We have children help with composting. The sieve is the perfect size for them to use. Great for adults too.

I got a huge truckload of dirt from the enlargement of a parking area. It had everything in it but the kitchen sink! This little screener was perfect for sorting the good from the bad before it went into my raised beds. Couldn't have gardened this year without it!
If the world were perfect, a stand would have been nice, to save my back, but . . . .

This compost sieve is well made and gets the job done, but the size limits you to small batches. Gardner's Supply should definitely offer different sizes and depths of sieves, because this is a nice product

I use my compost sieve to strain out the food scraps that haven't broken down in my worm composter.

We had been using a home made sifter for our compost pile, and my back hurt when I used it. This sifter holds just enough, but not enough to make it too heavy to use. It seemed very strong, and hopefully will last a long time. The lawn was very grateful for this purchase. :)

I have your old model compost sieve which has handles. It seems to be aluminum. It works fine and fast for sifting completed compost.
I gave this new steel model as a requested gift. It has not been used, but it has two metal seams and no handles and if you happen to hold it at a seam it could scratch or cut. I also wonder if the finish will stand up to use.

I used the sieve to sift the dirt from all my plant containers.
The sieve worked real great. It helped me get rid of the little stones and other debris that found its way into the containers.

The steel compost sieve is MUCH better than the one you previously sold.

This is a very high quality product. We used it to sift completed compost from larger materials that need a little more composting time and it worked very well.

I am a small time composter and this is perfect. I compost using rubbermaid garbage cans with snap on lids. This sifter is the perfect size for sifting a shovel full of ripened compost into a tub.
