Using this product I was able to jump start a fall compost bin. Layered with alfalfa hay that had been discarded because the bales got wet and added corn fodder (chopped) and kitchen wastes. Put in a few cups of this product and at two weeks and moderate fall temperatures I'm at 130 degrees in the middle of my pile already! I'm a believer.

I just added this a few weeks ago and used the compost aerator expecting that since it's late in the season that maybe when it heats up in the spring I will have nice compost for spring planting. It's too early to tell since it's only been a few weeks and the temps have been cool. It does look like the compost pile has shrunk a bit which leads me to believe there is some decomposition taking place despite the cooler temps. A little seems to go a long way.

This will be my second year using this product. I converted 4 foot high by 40 foot long pile of leaves and have added office coffee grounds this year. Can't wait for next summer's garden--all organic--compost and mulch (leaves) only. Weeds reduced and pests appear to be fewer.

Great helper and booster for your composter! This "charged" up our composting for the year, and already we're seeing nice, rich black compost. Is a bit dusty when pouring, so would recommend wearing a mask or kerchief over the mouth/nose. Would definitely order again.

Seems to work just fine, hoping for compost in 2 more months. Got to keep the pile watered or reaction dies off. I have a 12 cu ft rotating barrel that allows for adding material, watering, and aeration for hot composting, at this point, the pile is running about 100 degrees, but I just put more Starter in. I found the information about composting on the bag to be very useful. The product did heat up my bin quickly (almost to 120 degrees in a day or two), however the product seemed to quit working after only a few days and the compost was far from being finished. The bin also seemed to draw small flies and that had never happened before.
I love most of the products from Gardener's Supply, but probably wouldn't recommend this particular one.

I have found that the "Super Hot" compost starter is actually as advertised. In the past when I have used this product, I have actually found ashes in the midst of the compost! I am currently using in in my new barrel style composter that claims to make compost in 4 weeks-3 weeks to go.

Since spring seems to have come early to New England this year, I decided that it was warm enough to try out my Super Hot which I had kept in my basement for a couple of months (I didn't want to have the organisms die in the dead of winter). I put it in a few days ago, turned the compost heap a bit, and just checked up on it today. I could actually feel warmth on the stack, something that I had not felt before, so I know that it's working. pretty awesome, if the heat in my house goes out, I can always go sleep on the compost heap like Survivorman.

I'm using this on different piles to compare its effectiveness. Can really see a difference in the pile that is mostly grass clippings - the pile sat "as is" for 1+ years. Now it has composted to about 3/4 of its original size in <2 months. Need to remember to keep it moist when Mother Nature doesn't! Too early to tell about leaves and kitchen scrap pile.

I have a ComposTumbler, and it is a little tricky to get the right proportions to feed it--you need to get the right proportion of nitrogen and carbon sources to get breakdown without bugs, and the Compost Heater helps you have a margin so that you get breakdown of material more predictably and with more margin for error. I made a side-to-side 3 cu ft bins; I am still just on one side, but it was getting full and I did not see any significant decomposition of the material.
