I also bought the lid, but YOU CAN ONLY USE THE LID IF YOU PUT THE WIRE BINS TOGETHER tall. I wanted to connect the bins at the widest advantage and now I can't utilize this composter to hold things in a wider scope. The tallest combination makes it difficult to aeriate. I wish the sales person would have let me know that before I ordered. I would have not ordered the lid. There should be an option of sizes for a lid to fit either way.

We have a tumbler composter, and the wire composter prepares the waste and breaks it down before we put it into the tumbler.

I have the black cover for the bin and the cover would cave in under heavy snow. This wire cover stops that from happening.
I think the cover should be included with the bin and not an accessory.

This wire cover for the wire compost bin matches perfectly, and attaches to the bin with the same wire coils. It looks nice and helps control leaves blowing out of the bin when it's windy. The only design flaw is that a clip-type latch would have been a better design for closure than to have to roll the wire coil to open it.

This is a wonderful compost system. I purchased the 3-set. It assembled very easily. It's well made. The spiral clips are ingenious. The only thing I'd add is the ability to swing open the front panel to make turning the pile easier.

I thought I would need this to keep out animals from digging into the kitchen scraps. Turns out they aren't a problem. And by using the lid, you get less capacity and it makes it more difficult to turn the pile.
Unless you really, really need to keep a lid on your pile, I would skip the lid.

I ordered the wire compost bin. The phone operator talked me into getting the lid, but she didn't say there was more than one size. By the time the lid arrived, I had assembled the bin to be short and wide. The lid arrived, and it was sized to fit a bin that was assembled tall and narrow. I would never want a tall, narrow compost bin, so the wire lid is garbage and I wish I never bought it. The lesson here is not to be talked into buying things without checking it out yourself.

This is the perfect complement to the wire composter bin. Keeps animals out and yard waste in. Highly recommended to go along with the bin.
