Comments about Coir Worm Bedding:

I add the coir to all my vegetable beds before planting and I also use it around my other flowers and shrubs to keep the soil pliable and it works just great. I also use it in my composter to help break down the vegetation along with coffee grounds. As a result, my flower and vegetable gardens are just beautiful.

Comments about Coir Worm Bedding:

I love worm castings and tea, but in Ohio, it can be a bit of a challenge to access those year round. With my worm composter system set up in my greenhouse, I was worried about odor. However, with the coir as a base for my other additives, there is no odor and, to steal a phrase in the spirit of the season, my worms are "...snuggled all warm in their beds..."

Thanks, G.S.

Worms seem to like it. I can't complain about the assembly - add water and wait. What else can I say? Worms are little digestive systems, they don't complain much and since they can't talk, I have to assume they are happy. It's easier than wetting down shredded paper.

Very versatile & compact
By JudyPVerified Purchaser from Hillsborough, NJ on 4/1/2009
Pros:
Attractive, Capacity, Composts Quickly, Great price, Odor Free
Best Uses:
Garden amendment, Seed starting mix, Worm bedding
Describe Yourself:
Master Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Coir Worm Bedding:

I use the coir bricks as worm bedding and also to make my own seed starting mix. I have also used it as a base for repotting plants that prefer a less acifdic pH than when using peat moss. I like the fiber content as it is much finer than spanghum peat moss and does not contain the heavy sticks pieces found in peat. I also like the fact that it is easy to store and does not take up a lot of space like a cubic bag of peat.

For eco-conscious small garden
By Mary Ann the Patio Mad ScientistVerified Reviewer from Littleton (near Denver), CO on 3/24/2009
Best Uses:
Ecological Waste Disposal, Fertilizer Production, Kitchen Scraps
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Coir Worm Bedding:

This is a great alternative to peat for containers, small beds and small composters. Coir is a renewable resource, and is very easy to store the dry bricks on a shelf. But it does take a little time to reconsitute. I put two bricks in a 10 gal pail and add 4.5 gal of hot water and let them soak overnight. (A clean, recycled kitty litter pail is perfect.) The next day, I stir the coir up, and voila! It's ready. But it would not be convenient to make enough for a large garden. But for a small space gardener or container gardener, this is the best ecologically friendly alternative to peat, especially to make layers with potting soil and compost.
