We are just starting composting, and have made 3 batches in our compost tumbler. We have excellent proof that Super Hot Compost Starter really works. The first 2 batches of compost were made with the whole contents of the 2 bags sprinkled in on layers of material. Compost was quickly made, got hot and killed insects and seeds, and made lovely, black, crumbly compost. The third batch was made mostly by my husband, who is of a very frugal turn of mind, sometimes. He used only about a cup of the compost starter. The compost did not break up even tiny sticks, seeds sprouted as soon as he put down the compost in a new bed, and it took a long time for the compost to finish. We have two large compost tumblers that we fill all winter with kitchen scraps, plus some autumn leaves and end-of-year grass clippings. In the spring, we do not have time for both tumblers to heat up and decompose quickly enough to use for spring planting compost. We use SuperHot end of March/early April and within a month, with some extra water and elbow grease to aerate the piles, we are ready to go. Our routine is this: We aerate the scraps, pour about 1/3 of each packet into a tumbler with some water so that it soaks in, turn again, add another 1/3, turn again. After about 2 weeks, add the final third. At the end of the month, we have first-rate compost!

I had frozen leaves, orgainic egg shells, organic coffee filters and grounds and orgainic carrot shavings and water; now about 1 week after using Super Hot compost starter my pile is starting to smell like very rich soil. So yes I would say it works very good. I don't think it is frozen anymore either.

I use the compost activator and energizer to get my piles rotting at greater speed. I have 3 piles going year round. The compost aid really gets them going in winter when it's cold and wet. I stir it in a couple of times during the process.

This stuff works fast and efficiently. I used it with the tumbler composter and the organic matter broke down to a fairly fine mulch within a few weeks. Granted, the larger items (thick stalks and such) have yet to break down. But that's to be expected. This product accelerated the process impressively. Though I can figure out the ratios for smaller bins, it would be extra nice if they had included a few smaller breakdowns in the instructions. But that's a very minor point.

Once I got the hang of how much to put in and when to put the mix in, the compost began to break down quickly. Wish I had started much earlier before the bin was almost full. I mixed in the ratio on the instructions, but ended up without enough Activator to blend with the last round Energizer. I definitely plan to order more next spring.

I use Super Hot in a composter I had purchased from Garden Supply, it worked like it said about 4 weeks, a very dark mulch was the final result, I used it around the vegetables in the garden which they seem to love, as they are growing well with the added mulch. It's broken down enough to be able to work with it, easy to separate. Only thing I have noticed lately with the new batch is alot of tanic acid from grass cuttings I have added. I combine eggshells with the mix, as well as other vegetable trimmings.

This product works well. This is the second order I have placed for this product. The first time I left it in the bags in my garage and the field mice really like one of the two. A warning should be included with it so people would store it in mouse-proof containers or in a location that does not have mice.
