It works beautifully provided that the floater is clean enough to slide easily. Those who complain should try cleaning it because ours measures even a small amount of rain. After 3 years the polystyrene buoy rotted and we bought 5 new gauges, one for us and the rest for friends. A good, simple, well made product that I recommend highly.

This rain gauge has been in my garden for for more than a year. I like it because I can look out the kitchen window and see the rainfall amount in my garden. It's sturdy, durable, simple to use.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas 2008, so this is the first summer to use it. We had several of the plastic ones that set on the ground, but they broke & we couldn't see it from indoors. This is great, nice looking in the landscaping, & easy to see from inside. Don't know yet how the styrofoam piece inside the plastic tube will hold up over time, but as another person said it shouldn't be hard to replace.

We bought this for my husband at Christmas but couldn't put it out in the winter. It has been in our yard for about a month and we noticed the tip of the spiral holder is rusting and transferring the rust the underside of the copper cup. An outdoor product made for the rain should not rust. Now we have to take the time and money to correct the problem. Disappointed.

My area that I live in is in a drought I like knowing how much rain we have had. The gauge is easy to read even from a distance. The solid construction makes me feel like I will own this for a very long time.

We purchased one for ourselves several years ago. It's very attractive and easy to read from inside the house. The only drawback was that it lacked a mounting bracket for the deck railing where we wanted it so had to make our own. I have purchased another one for my brother-in-law (who has everything) for this Christmas and I know he will like it.

This is a very attractive rain gauge but I was disappointed to find that it rarely works. There has to be at least an inch of rain for it to register and sometimes it doesn't even do that. It worked okay when I first bought it but now it never does. I've had this for a year now and am looking for a better one. I'll skip the fancy design this time - I just want a plain rain gauge that works!

Did not measure a small amount of rain. Had to rain about 1/2 inch or more to measure. Was fairly accurate with an inch or more of rain.

Good gauge, floats to show rainfall amount. Very sturdy. Copper has weathered to a nice patina over the months. The only drawback is that there is styrofoam in the float and will likely deteriorate with weathering, but should be easy to replace.

The rain gauge is easy to set up and adds beauty to my back yard. I can read it from my kitchen window for a quick estimate. I have given one to several friends and they all think it is attractive and useful.

I had to get used to using this guage before I really started to appreciate it. Now, I just look out and if I see "blue" I know I've gotten measurable rainfall. I even have learned about how much "blue" is an inch of rain. The glass won't break like so many rain guages and I will now have to always have one of these. Just take the time to learn how to use it.

This very attractive rain gauge is fun to look at in one of my flower beds. It's like a piece of garden sculpture. In late spring it needed to be relocated as the flowers around it grew too tall. I enjoy checking the gauge after a rainfall and find it easy to read and empty. If you like rain gauges this one is cool.
