We had fruit flies in our kitchen and nothing this seemed to work for getting rid of them until I purchased this product. The only fault I found was that the holes you had to punch through with the attached stick was too difficult to use. I had to use a knife instead.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

I had a horrible fruit fly infestation in my kitchen. Within a few days of putting it out on the counter in the ceramic holder, they were gone. Then about 6 weeks later I had a party, then got the flu right after. There was lots of fruit & stuff left out on dirty plates -- which is normally an open invitation for them. I saw ONE, and that only very briefly. I'm truly impressed.

We just bought the fruit fly traps and the soapstone box as a gift for a family member. They work better for fruit flies than our homemade version, and there is the added advantage of our not having to view the tiny corpses. We like the safety aspect as well--they can be placed right in the fruit bowl if one desires.

When we harvested our winter squash, we didn't notice that one of them had a rotten spot. By the time we got around to pressure cooking and freezing the crop, the house was completely infested with fruit flies. Thanksgiving dinner was a disaster, more swatting at fruit flies than eating. The four fruit fly traps arrived shortly thereafter, and I put one in each of the main rooms. Within 24 hours the fruit fly numbers had decreased, within 5 days they were all gone.

I keep one on my kitchen counter next to the fruit bowl. It is especially useful in the spring and fall when the fruit flies are particularly pesty. I also keep one on my desk at work, since many people bring fruit for snacks and the fruit flies follow the fruit. I love that it's small and has the attractive container that makes it look nice. Best of all - it works.

Keep it in the kitchen near the compost pail. Takes up room on the kitchen counter, so sometims put it on the floor.

This made the fruit cold & she wasn't eating it as much as she should. Now, with these traps she can leave her fruit on the table & eat it when ever she wants.
Thanks from me & my Mom!

This product drastically reduces the fruit fly population. It is easy to use and blends in anywhere even w/o the soapstone box. I highly recommend it. When using be sure to reduce the breeding grounds for fruit flies: keep fruit covered or in fridge, keep compost bucket tightly sealed, etc. The first two I used are nearly at the end of their usefulness and I will be setting out the second two in a week or so. I use two: one in the kitchen and one in the dining room.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

We live on a peninsula in Michigan that has the largest number of cherry trees in the nation. When growers dump their extra cherries it is a holiday for the fruit flies and a nightmare for humans. The traps did "OK," but were not up to the massive amounts of fruit flies that kept cropping up.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

Well, these caught a lot of fruit flies, they did. But they hardly took care of the problem. I had to entirely remove all attractants: kitchen compost, fruit and vegetables on counter, and even had to make sure all dishes were done and dried. In addition, I tried vacuuming up the majority of the flies. I moved the compost to the garage and kept the baits in the compost. The fruit flies love it in there. Another, less expensive way of making baits is to pour apple cider vinegar into a jar with a few drops of dish liquid. Cover the jar with a lid with holes punched in. They go in, don't come out. Not the cure, but helps.

When purchased with the soapstone containers, these "traps" are attractive and effective at work. The soapstone looks great on a desk or credenza. No one can tell what they really are, other than a decorative stone accent. The traps work best when you can pinpoint the problem areas, such as the office plants. If I am being bothered by one, I simply move the trap. Would have given it 5 stars if all of the fruit flies knew where to go!

Where do fruit flies come from? Where do they stay in winter? All I know is come summer, here come the fruit flies.I have used these particular traps for several years. I will put one in the soapstone container on the cabinet next to the fruit platter. It's attractive as well as very effective. It cuts down the FF population to 1/10 of what I see without the trap. This year I bought a FF trap from our local hardwear store. I trapped all of 8 fruit flies, and it was messy to use.I learned my lesson and ordered two more from Garndeners Supply Co. They will last me well into fall. All you have to do is use the little punch stick supplied w/the traps, and 'Bye Bye Fruit Fly'!!

It really limits the number of fruit flies, but only in a limited area. I kept it near my trash can, but it did not help the area around my sink where the compost bucket was. There were less flies in general, none where the trash can was, but a few, and only 1 or 2, near my compost bucket and sink. I still would not do without it because 1 or 2 is a lot better than the dozens I had before I put it out.

This product is really good. You open the holes and just place it near the problem area. It was not something I could say "WOW look how fast the fruit flies are gone!" But, that usually means you can also smell whatever is attracting the flies. With this product, the best thing I can say is that both my wife and daughter -- within 48 hours -- said "How did you get rid of the fruit flies?"

I use in the soapstone container next to my fruit bowl and they really cut back on the number of fruit flies. I was using Martha Stewart's remedy previously (rolled piece of paper stuffed into water bottle with a little vinegar in bottom of bottle; gnats crawl in and can't get out) but this works as well and is 10X more attractive.

I've used this product for 3 summers now. We live in a fruit belt area and fruit flies are a real nuisance. The first year, this seemed to help. Last summer less, and this summer not at all. I'm a bit disappointed. I've made my own fruitfly traps out of apple cider vinegar that worked better really, but they are a real eyesore. Still, I doubt I'd spend the money on this again. Perhaps I can make my own solution and put it in the attractive container???

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

It hasn't yet been a month since I displayed the fly traps, so I haven't needed to put a refill in yet. But any flies I've seen in the house have disappeared. Although, I haven't yet seen a fly actually go into the trap, there is a lot of fly residue on the top of the trap around the holes, so I know there's plenty of activity. I'm very happy with the product and will continue to use it.

Fruitflies are increasing at our local grocery stores, which are then carried into the home, and office if the same fruit is carried in as lunch. Even washing the fruit did not end the problem. This product has literally ended the infestation in the kitchen. The container fits nicely anywhere and is discreet. I have no complaints about it.

Three years ago I had a terrible problem with fruit flies. I just couldn't get rid of them, they were everywhere! I saw the fruit fly traps in your catalog and took a chance. Remember, I was infested with the pests. I put out the fly traps and within a week there was a noticable difference and within two weeks they were gone. I put a trap out every year now before a problem arises. I wish everything would work as efficently as these traps do.

These little traps are effective, discreet (doesn't look like you are treating infestations), keep fruit flies under control (ff's can overrun a kitchen fast, without these!)

They make wonderful houseguest presents for people when you learn they have trouble with keeping fresh fruit on a counter in hot weather. They don't scold, just tackle a problem we all have, and offer an unobtrusive solution.

Refills are easy to store for later on in the summer.

Shortly after I bought my first fruit fly trap, I read an article that included a recipe for a homemade concoction that smells similar to this one. However, if you're looking for a time-saving, ease-of-use product, this is it. And it works, too. Buying the ceramic container (as we did) makes it attractive on the kitchen counter, too. The fact that it's non-toxic is appealing. I keep buying these traps, even though I did make one batch of the homemade stuff (and it works, too). You just can't beat this for convenience.

These work well in the bathroom too. We have little flies that like to be near the water (toilet, sink overflow hole)plus the kitchen, so these traps are easy to put on a counter out of the way and get rid of the little nuisances. The traps do cut down on the numbers of these little flies quite well. You have to be careful in disposing the trap as it has liquid inside, but otherwise is very easy to use.

We started using one of these in the kitchen after we started getting fruit flies in the air above our fruit bowl. The trap does NOT work like magic (as in pop it open, and watch the flies disappear), but if you can be patient for a few days, it really does have an impact--without stinky smells or scary chemicals in your kitchen. I have actually received compliments on the soapstone container for the trap--it looks like a decorative item.

This product is used in my kitchen near the fruit bowl. Prior to using it we always had lots of fruit flies, now i only see one and that's not for long. My wife took one to work because she brings fruit to work-no more fruit flies! I also gave one to my daughter who is very nervous about pestisides. I said to her they were very safe and she wanted one this year.

I wish they looked a little 'cuter' but I'll take efficiency over looks any day!!!

We try to use no pesticides or chemicals so the fruit fly traps work great for that. They have helped to get rid of those pesky fruit flies that want to hang around our fruit and compost pail. It does have a limited range but the traps can be placed anywhere and the soapstone boxes make them look good as well.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

We are composters of the first order, and since I cook a lot, and we grow organically, our counter top compost pail usually needs to be emptied once a day. Consequently, fruit flies were everywhere -- in the fruit, in the cereal, in the break dough -- you name it. Until I used your fruit fly traps. It was truly almost instantaneous relief. I wouldn't be without them now, and actually have several packages of backup traps on hand.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

I am a worm composter, so I often have fruit and vegetable scraps in an open container (better for the worms that way). This does cause an occasional problem with fruit flies, of course. When I get them, I put a fresh trap out and remove the scraps for a couple of days, and the flies disappear. Without the trap, the flies linger for days or even weeks.

I also use one right on my worm bin outside. It is less effective there since there are so many other options for the flies, but it still helps!

Later in the year I bought more fillers thinking that eventually they would take hold. They did not. You may wish to reconsider including this product in your catalog.

This trap really works as advertised. The first one we used got rid of most of the pests, and the second one finished them off. I keep them in the soapstone box (sold separately) next to my fruit bowl on the counter. Now that we are composting, it is harder to control fruit flies, but the trap really reduces the population.
