I put this liner inside my stainless steel bucket on top of my counter and I fill it with organic waste, but it leaks. I had a smelly film of brown goo under the bag when I lifted it out of the bucket. I emptied the contents into my homemade worm bin and I'm still waiting for it to decompose...that's taking a bit longer than I expected given how quickly it leaked. It's better than not using a bag though and it IS biodegradable.

These bags make composting kitchen scraps much easier. Cuts down on odor and avoids having to clean kitchen scrap holder after emptying. If you stuff theses bags full of scraps like I do, you will still need to carry out the compost container to the compost bin or they may rip on the way out.

I've use a compost pail in the kitchen for a year now. The liners keep me from having to scrape the pail when I empty it each week. They do leak, but I put a folded paper towel in bottom, saves on rinsing sometimes. I often tear the bag at the bottom seal when I'm trying to tear at the perforation. As long as I'm careful it will tear in the right place.

These bags make composting more convenient and much cleaner. They don't leak so you don't have to clean your kitchen crock every time you empty it. If you prefer, you can just drop the entire bag in your compost pile and the bag will compost as well. They are much better than reusing the produce bags from the grocery store which leak and don't compost.

These are great, and make it a lot easier to collect kitchen scraps. They have been sturdy enough, and easily fit into our gallon compost bin.

I'm not sure how well it breaks down, I haven't put it in my personal compost bin yet (it's close to being ready to empty). I've put it in the city compost.

I couldn't afford the container, so just use the bags alone. At first I used one bag per week, however it would get heavy and retain moisture, so I put all of my kitchen scraps in a zip lock bag and transfer to the green bags when the garbage-man comes.I am the recycle queen of my neighborhood, so anything that keeps stuff out of the landfill is my #1 priority.

This works great for keeping the pail clean and odor free. It is easier too take the bag and dump into the pile now. It seems to take several weeks for the bags to breakdown. I tear the bags open with the shovel when I turn the pile to speed it up. Overall a decent price [...]

I would prefer a smaller bag, as I like to use one bag per day to eliminate the decomposition process occurring in my kitchen. I don't have room for a container, so I keep a current day's bag under the sink then put in the mulch bin at night.

I've used these bags for three years or more. I had to order them recently on a one-item order and started thinking about cost. [...] they're about [$] each. During the summer, when the garden is producing, I might use 3 in a week, week after week. They tear very easily, sometimes when you're taking them off the roll, and they leak the naturally smelly juices into your compost bucket. I'm going to switch over to using recycled plastic bags from the grocery, rinse off the bag, and use it again. Their pricing will have to be more reasonable to get me back to using and recommending these.

These bags are great. They do allow you to easily empty your kitchen crock without a lot of cleanup and smell. They will, however, begin to decompose if left in the crock with scraps for too long. If used correctly with ALL kitchen scraps, it shouldn't be a problem. I just dig a hole in my garden, bury, and never see again.

    Comments about Biobags™:

I love these bags but (a) they often split not at the tear line rendering them useless, and (b) they don't break down in the ground very fast (not in a year's time!). Yet I love them, why? Because it keeps the kitchen compost container clean and easy to empty and the slow breakdown isn't a problem. I would like to see them a little more sturdy so when opening them to use, a tear or split doesn't suddenly appear, as they are rather expensive.

This is a life saver in getting the rest of my family to compost as enthusiastically as I do! The bags eliminate the need to clean out the compost bowl, and they were especially helpful this winter when we had weeks of heavy snow on the ground, and couldn't get all the way out to our composter on a regular basis. I was able to put the bags on the back steps, and hold them until I could get to the composter. A great invention!

Tried several ways to make filling and emptying compost pail easier and more pleasant - Bought some "doggie waste" bags at Pet Smart but they were only DEgradeable, not Biodegradeable; tried paper but they fell apart; tried grocery bags, but they still had to be emptied.Should have just bought these from the start.Fill, empty, repeat...

We bought these thinking how easy they would be - no more cleaning out the compost pail! Well, the bags leak like crazy, so we still end up rinsing the pail every time we empty the bag. We don't have to soap off solids, at least, but we do still have to wash it out. Not worth the money, in my opinion. I would never buy these again!

Really enjoy these bags. Being able to close them up keeps odors down, and my compost pail is so much easier to clean.
Only complaint is that they come in a larger size than I need or want, so some of the space gets wasted. There's only two of us in the house, so it takes me longer to fill up a bag, and I don't like to put it in the pile until it's full, so it can get a little smelly.
Would like a gallon size, which would fit in my pail without being overwhelmingly large.
Otherwise - They're great, altho a little pricey.

The kitchen composter sits on the counter by the sink and I take the lid off while preparing meals. All vegetable scraps go directly in, saves a step there. Easy to close the bag and carry to composter or tie it closed and store in a bucket in garage until time for a trip to the composter.
My only suggestion would be for the bag to be clear or a more natural beige color.

Our compost was great quality except for the bags that we had to remove from the garden when we shoveled out the composter. I still will use these bags as it makes removing the kitchen pail easier and less messy but I am thinking of throwing out the bags once I empty the contents into the composter.

This is a great idea, as it usually keeps me from having to rinse out my ceramic kitchen compost pail each time. Just lift the bag out, and toss the whole thing in the composter. Great! I have noticed the bags seem to be a little slow in breaking down in the compost tumbler, but the convenience makes up for that.

These bags take care of all of that. No cleaning! I pour leftover liquids into my bucket too so don't know how the bags will hold up to that...have to wait and see. Also have not had them long enough to see how quickly they decompose and it's also been too cold for any break down of any compost yet. Thumbs up so far!

The bags are nearly perfect for my kitchen scraps, except if I put leftovers gone bad in my compost pail. I'm a 1 person household, so it takes a while for me to fill my pail. If they sit for too long without being emptied, they can start to get holes. This defeats the purpose of having bags if I need to wash out my compost pail every time anyway. I've started taking it out to my compost when the bag and pail are only 1/2 full. Not my ideal choice, but it works to keep the bags from getting holes. If you have a larger family than I do, you probably fill your compost pail more quickly, and these bags would be perfect.

    Comments about Biobags™:

Could be a little thicker. I'm hesitant to just pull the bag out and carry it to the bin-I still take the whole bucket. The end of the roll was secured in such a way that I had to rip the first bag to undo it. Sharp things like eggshells and stems can rip these bags easier than I'd like. Overall, they keep the bucket much cleaner.

These liners are good but not great. With only 2 people in our household, my scraps and grounds sit around for at least 1 week before going to the compost heap. These bags will usually develop a hole by then where they are in contact with liquid residue from the coffee grounds. It is great that they are biodegrable but could stand to be a bit thicker to hold the moisture.

When we run out of compost bags, that's when we're reminded how much we really like this product! Without the bag, the compost bucket is disgusting & must be washed thoroughly each time it's emptied. With the bags, a quick rinse is the most you usually need. That makes them an ecological choice because you use less water & energy. And they save us time & money. What's better than that!

I purchased the BioBags for the kitchen counter crock, to simplify saving scraps in winter for my worm bin. The bags work fine on the counter, except that they are much larger than the crock and form a sizable ruffle around the top. I thought the worms would eat both scraps and BioBag. However, they don't seem interested in the bag. I finally shook the scraps out and removed the bag. What to do with a used, empty BioBag?

I've had a kitchen compost pail for over 10 years, but never thought I needed a liner. After living with the smell, and the mess, and the fruitflies laying eggs, I now have a solution! It is SO worth it to use BIOBAGS. I will never go back to a linerless pail again.

I love these bags. Because they break down quickly, they can start that process before you empty a kitchen composter. Even when that happens, it still makes cleanup easier (as no pieces of compost get stuck to the pail). You have to be gentle when breaking the bags apart from the roll but even when they tear, they are still useable. We love them for both our kitchen scraps and our biodegradeable kitty litter. We don't compost without them. They are a great addition to our favorite steel pails from Gardner's.

I HATED cleaning out the compost pail, and it can be a few days between trips to the compost bin. These bags are great. I just line the pail and fill it up over a few days. I fold the bag over on the top, the lid fits on, and you can't see it from the outside. When the pail is full, the bag just comes out, there's no leaking, no smell, and makes the trip to the compost bin much safer because I've almost dropped my ceramic compost pail a few times.

I bought these for the bamboo kitchen bucket, and they fit the liner fine. It is mid-winter right now so I do not know if the bags are really going to break down in the compost pile or not, but they do hold together well enough to get into our larger compost pail we use to transfer out to the compost pile, and they don't leak significantly into the bucket liner.

It is winter here, so not much bio-degrading going on. So far, the bags we've thrown in the compost bin are still sitting there. We'll see when the weather warms up if they actually degrade or if we have to empty them. We use our compost a lot and while these are convenient for tossing out messy compost, so far that's about it.

I love the convenience of having the composter right on my kitchen counter. Even when company comes for dinner, they ask what that is and i tell them i'm composting right there on my counter!! I gave a pkg to my brother recently and am waiting for his comment. I found the new ones i just received are harder to tear apart. i wasted quite a few before i could get one to tear the right way so i could use it. I wonder if they really will decompose? may ask brother as he keeps a fenced in area for his compost and then spreads it over the garden before tilling in the spring. i will let you know what i find out.sincerely, Kay Reynolds Longhairnurs[@]

I prefer the biobags than lugging the crock to my outdoor compost bin at the edge of my property. The biobags reduce the cleaning required of the crock.

They do leak sometimes, depending on how quickly the crock fills (and how long the compost material sits) and what is in the crock. The bags do not compost as quickly as some materials, however I find they do decompose. Similarly, some matter takes longer to compost than others.

I would much rather find a local source for these bags. The carbon footprint for these bags manufactured in Norway ... well, I don't really want to think about it. And, I would like a smaller size to fit small kitchen counter crocks.

I take the bags with me to the grocery store and use them instead of the plastic bags provided for purchasing produce. Then as needed they become the liner for my compost pail. I LOVE not having those plastic produce bags to throw out. This has really cut down the plastic bag consumption in my house. The bags also do what they should as pail liners.

    Comments about Biobags™:

The biobag, while being a really good idea, takes a long time to degrade. We have a large compost heap on our property, and the raccoons are having a field day leaving the bags around the area. Additionally, the perforation sometimes includes a split bottom, so the bag does not hold material when being carried outside. I have knotted the bottom of the bag to solve this, thereby losing capacity. In spite of these shortcomings, I intend to order more. Hopefully the product will improve. I would recommend the product even with the problems noted.

I use these in the kitchen scrap pail from our waste disposal company. These fit the oval shape just fine & make it easy to take the scraps out to the the green waste can or our compost bin. I find that in my compost bin they breakdown pretty quickly, I turn mine often & it gets quite hot. Since starting to use them my family no longer complains about their turn for the chore of emptying the pail. Sometimes the bags tear when coming off the roll if you aren't careful. Overall they're great.

Our waste service now provides us with a bio waste kitchen container. Cleaning it each time it was emptied was not an enjoyable task. While spending the summer in Europe, our friends introduced us to the cornstarch bio bags they use for kitchen waste liners. I found them at Gardeners and have used them ever since. I like that you can buy a bunch at once. We go through 2 a week and although I can fine 10 packs at some local grocery stories....I run out of them too fast.

    Comments about Biobags™:

Be careful. These just arrived at my house an hour ago. I placed them on an open shelf where I keep other packaging - foil, waxed paper, saran, food bags. My dogs, who aren't really chewers by nature and who don't pay attention to anything else on the shelves, went nuts and tore them apart. There must be something about the bags that smells good to them. I caught the dogs before they might have swallowed the pieces but I've lost probably half of the bags to chewing.

I have a small garbage can under my sink I use for kitchen scraps that I then toss on the compost pile. These bags are perfect for avoiding a dirty garbage can. They feel just like plastic and are very durable. They don't keep all of the moisture from the scraps enclosed however (not surprising because they have to be degradable). I noticed that after taking out the bag my can had some water in the bottom. But I'd rather wipe out the can than have to clean it! I haven't had them long enough to tell how fast they decompose (plus it's about 15 degrees out right now). But my mom has the same ones and said they just disappear after a while.

These bags biodegrade quickly. They are very helpful in keeping the in-house compost pail clean during the winter months. In the summer, we wash out the container with a hose outside. Since the outside water is turned off in the winter, we would need to wash out the pail in the kitchen. Now that we have these bio bags, we don't need to wash out garbage remains into the sink anymore. Great find!

The Biobags, to us are a necessity. They fit in the crock with no problem, they easily come out and can be moved right to the compost pile. Once I get them to the pile I do cover them with other material from the pile. One suggestion I would make is to be sure you do not put coffee grounds that are still too wet. A couple bags have leaked, this has NOT been a big problem.

    Comments about Biobags™:

These bags do what I wanted them to do - make the job of emptying the compost easier for sure.

As other reviewers have noted, they do seem to leak moisture, or perhaps just condensation - I'm not totally sure which. The bottom of my compost pail (under the bag) is always wet, but not smelly, so I'm ok with it. A quick rinse is MUCH better than dealing with all the compost ickies.

I also have found them to be pretty slow to break down. Ok if you are just letting your compost pile sit on it's own for long periods. Perhaps not ideal if you turn your pile regularly in an attempt to create compost more quickly.

Over all - I recommend these bags, they have been a big help to me.

I collect my compost on the kitchen counter in a 1/2 gallon juice pitcher with a top. These bags are very neat-- I just pull them out, take them out to the compost pile with all the stuff inside, and bury them there. They decompose pretty quickly. It's a great advantage over plastic bags. One small complaint: sometimes the bottoms rip when I'm separating each bag from the roll that it's on. Perferation needs to be better.

They can just be added to the composters and we don't have to try to open them or dispose of the plastic bag. Once a child brings some material in, they just take a new bag. It's great getting so many for the price.

I think Biobags are an essential component to kitchen composting. The bags are both large and strong enough to hold a good amount of kitchen scraps. When kitchen scraps are moist, the bags tend to break down rather quickly, however, this is a plus for the composting process. These bags are an absolute necessity for my home and garden.

I use these bags with the Green Stoneware Compost Crock. I was worried that they would leak since they break down over time, especially since we add coffee grinds which tend to be wet. But, they hold up great and we have not had a problem with leaking, breaking or tearing bags. Also using the bags saves wear and tear on the ceramic crock, which always remains on the counter instead of being transported outside to add its contents to our compost pile.

Just started composting this summer, so not sure how long it takes the bags to decompose. So far most are still in the composter. Some moisture seepage from the bag, but still makes it easier to dispose of kitchen scraps. Carefully rip at perforation for new bags, otherwise they can tear.

    Comments about Biobags™:

I purchased the biobags along with a composting carafe for my kitchen. At first, I was thrilled that I could grab the bag from my composting carafe and pop it into my composter in the yard. However, the bags 'seep' moisture when sitting inside the carafe and then they take quite some time to biodegrade. Thus making turning my compost pile very difficult and messy! They get stuck on my turning rod and then I have to pick them off with my hands. At that point they are mushy and slimy. Don't waste your money ~

These handy little bags have made all the difference in keeping a clean composte pail on the counter. You do need to be careful when pulling apart from the roll, as they tend to tear thru the perforations. When that happens, I just tie a knot at the bottom of the bag and use.

    Comments about Biobags™:

The bags work great in order to avoid carting off your countertop kitchen scrap container outside every time. We've found you'll still need to empty out the contents from the bag into the compost bin or else the full bag as a whole will take longer to compost. We've also found that if you leave the bag in the kitchen scrap container with kitchen scraps in it for too long (especially wet scraps) it will start to decompose already, therefore requiring you to take the whole container outside anyway (and clean it.)

Also, the first roll in the first set we bought had about a third of the bags with holes in them once the roll got to the end. But the roll afterwards was OK, and we're only on our third roll - so not sure if this is a typical problem or not.

Overall - well worth the price.

Overall, these make keeping your kitchen scraps much easier. No messy containers to rinse out. Sometimes they leak a bit - which I think comes from putting in hot coffee grounds. They also don't break down quite as quickly as I'd like in my compost. There are usually a few pieces of them still around even after the compost is finished. But nothing too major. I just placed my third order, so obviously their shortcomings are minor compared to the convenience they offer. These are definitely worth buying :)

For years we were using your plastic compost container with out the bio bags and we'd dread having to empty the can as it was smelly and slimy. These bags are great, we just toss the entire bag in the compost heap and once in a while give our can a good spray of fresh water, not like before where we had to scrub the slime. And the best part is that they are sturdy enough to hold alot of of veggie scraps, just watch out for pineapple rinds as they rip the bags.
