Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I deliver newspapers 365 days a year. I have fallen on many icy driveways, walks, stairs and streets. Last winter I hit my head when I fell and was knocked unconscious. My son got me some snow traxs which helped but they kept coming off and I lost them several times. This winter I stepped on a small ball of ice in the middle of my foot where there where no metal cleats so I rolled with the ball of ice. I pulled all the ligaments in my hip which was very painful and made it impossible to even dress myself for several weeks. My sister-in-law recommended that I find Yaktrax which is what her doctor told her she was to use after she shattered her ankle. When I found these I was excited to try them. My husband has to help me stretch them to get them on my boots but that's fine since they STAY ON and they have metal on the TOES, INSTEP and HEEL for FULL protection. YEAH! I have not fallen nor lost my yaktrax since I got them. Once I didn't get the toe up over the toe of my boot enough and it slipped off under my boot but the velcro strap that goes over the toe kept it from coming all the way off and getting lost. YEAH! Thank you Gardeners for carrying such a wonderful product. I have recommended it to people at work.

By far, the best gift I've ever given my Dad. He fell twice prior to using them. Much to his amazement, they kept him safely upright, regardless of the surface or weather condition - even 'black ice' that was not visible to the eye. Now he won't go outside without them on! Mission, accomplished! Thanks, Gardener's Supply!

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I take my dog for 1/2 -1/2 hour walks twice a day and needed something to help prevent me from falling when Illinois weather gets very icey. I went through 2 pairs of regular yak trax last winter and thought the Pro pair would be better. The size chart showed I should buy a small pair, but they are almost impossible to get on my boots, often flying off as I try to pull them on. After only one month of use, the portion of the straps that are looped through the traxs to anchor them to each trax, became frayed and I had to take them off. I just hope they last through the winter, for they do help a great deal with the walks!

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I walk my dog a couple miles each day and most people don't shovel their walks, so the yaktrax keep me from falling.
They provide purchase on ice, but are slick on tile floors.
They are difficult for an old guy like me to put on - I may need to take a yoga class.
I have arthritis in my hands, and that makes it difficult, too.

I foster and rescue dogs. I always have at least 4 dogs at a time. These are great for walking the dogs. Times when there is snow over the ice it stops me from falling.Buy them big. I bought a pair for me and my husband. Mine broke after using them all last winter and half of this. I will order another pair for me but in a larger size. They go on easier that way. I recommend them to everyone.

This purchase replaced my previous pair of Yaktrax Pro that lasted through 2 icy New England winters of daily dog walking. My dog is very energetic and can pull me off my feet even on dry pavement, so icy walks can be scary. My Yaktrax provide extremely secure footing even on smooth patches of ice. It takes about 2 minutes to put them onto my boots or shoes - I generally leave them on my boots whenever it's icy (which is pretty much all winter in my area). If you walk in icy areas, I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I use YakTrax to give me traction when using a snowblower. My driveway has a steep hill and I would often slip while going up or down. When using the Yaktrax, I am very stable. When the wheels start spinning, I am able to lean in and get the machine moving again. My only complaint was that the rubber along the outside broke quickly when I slipped sideways and it pressed against the pavement. I managed to fix it with some wire, and that allowed me to use them for the rest of the season. I will repair these again and keep them as a backup pair. All in all, a useful product, and not just for hiking.

I would not have survived this winter uninjured, without my yaktrax pro! These are my second pair; my original ones that I purchased through Gardeners Supply (3 or 4 years ago)are still on my snow boots and usable, though well worn, and once repaired. I'll have my new pair to snap on next season. Thank you. vh

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

The Pro model is definitely worth the extra money as compared to the regular Yaktrax model which is less expensive. The Pro model is much more sturdy, whereas the regular model did not last very long for me. I live in Alaska and use the Pro model everyday in the winter when I walk my border collie down a snow-covered dirt road which is often icy. The velcro strap also keeps them from sliding off boots which was another problem with the regular model.

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I have a big dog which I walk three miles every day (unless there's a torrential downpour, electrical storm, or the combined temp and wind chill go below zero) so need to be able to walk on whatever mother nature throws at us. (And here in Michigan, that can be a lot!)

The Yak Trax Pro are great . . lightweight, don't make my shoes feel different, and once in place are very secure--and make me feel that way, too, especially on ice. They really grip!

Only thing i have found is that they're a little bit of work to get on the shoes (although that's probably also what makes them STAY on) . . so I just leave them on the same pair of walking shoes all winter. Also, over the course of the winter season (long in Michigan), a coil occassionaly comes loose on one of them. This is my third pair (in 5 years) but I'd still recommend . . it's a small price to pay to be able to walk through anything!

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

I like the design and the great traction provided but attaching them to your shoes or boots can be a little tricky. They tend to snap back if you don't attach them to your heels securely. I just leave them on a pair of boots I only wear outside and don't worry about taking them off and on. Haven't found anything with better traction.

Excellent traction even on smooth ice. (I can tell by the tracks in the snow that my mail carrier wears a pair, too!) NOTE: They are meant to fit snugly to the shoe or boot: do not get a larger size just to make it easier to mount and remove them, or they may shift underfoot and become unstable.

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

Once you get these on your boots, they are fine. I had some trouble doing that; no instructions were provided. I have small feet and the bands were too powerful for my regular boots. I do have a pair of large snow boots from LL Bean, on which I finally installed these. They provide extremely good stability and traction on ice and deep snow, of which we have plenty in Wisconsin.

I wear these for walking the dog during winter, a daily task. They're helpful during snow and ice, but will not grip glare ice.
My mom is a senior citizen, aged 82. She had to have me put the YakTraks onto her boots. Then she was afraid of how the treads grabbed at the doormats: she thought they might make her fall.

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

We have had a tough winter this year, but the 4 inches of frozen ice/sleet was the worst. I had seen these in the catalog earlier...and quickly got online and ordered 3 pair after the ice storm. The quickly arrived, and saved the day...and our necks! We live on a small farm, with sheep, horses, poultry and border collies, and chores can't wait.

The Yaktrax Pro performed beautifully! I could walk anywhere, including steep creek banks covered in ice, without slipping. Epic!

I ordered a small for myself, wearing a woman's size 8. I needed to put them over my Arctic Muck Boots, and I thought I'd never get them on. These boots have thick soles and are large in the foot, and are a size 9 so that I can wear heavy socks...I was just about to give up and wait until my husband came home to help me, but I gave it another shot and got them on. They have now stayed on those boots for many weeks without ever falling off. I am wearing them in deep snow right now, and I feel confident with my footing.

So, the very snug fit over my big winter boots is good now that they are on, but be prepared to struggle a bit...and they go on easily over regular shoes/boots.

An excellent product -- and great service from Gardners Supply!

I use these to get me back and forth from the horse barn. I leave them on to do all the chores. We have a steep driveway that is in the shade. It can become a glacier after a number of freeze/thaw cycles. Yaktrax are the only way I can get out of the house. The "Pro" version stays on better than the originals.

Comments about Yaktrax® Pro, Pair:

Great to give as a gift to family or friends who live or travel in wintry conditions. Safer to get from parking lots or spaces into stores in midwinter. More secure walking for long months Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb.+ in Chicago, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc. Don't bother with non-strap type.

Cons, not difficult to put on IF you get appropriate size (co. says my size is small but medium fits my women's size 9 shoe better) then strap on. Taking them off once you've tromped through ice can be messy. Easier to keep Yaktrax Pros on a pair of winter shoes or boots and change to others when indoors, IMHO.

Not comfortable on flooring, be aware if you are walking in and out of doors repeatedly -- say, with a large load of grocery bags. Suppose trax might scratch a nice floor. Package does warn vs. walking on carpet.

I live in New England and walk a large, somewhat unruly dog. My Yaktrax give me a huge advantage in footing on snow and ice & have spared me several nasty falls. I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who has to be out in the winter. I've bought them for my mother-in-law, a dedicated walker, and my husband, who starts work very early in the AM and is often walking around the city before the streets & sidewalks have been cleared.
