Comments about Long Reach Watering Can:
I reviewed this watering can earlier this year (I'm the fellow that compared it to a Haws English-made watering can). Now that the end of the season is here, I would like to revise my review. I used this can daily in my 30' x40'vegetable garden--it saw a lot of use and did an admirable job. The best feature is that it waters gently; the down side, as I reported earlier, is that you cannot esily clean the detachable spout --if grass particles, etc., get into the can, you will have to backflush the spout several times to dislodge the debris from inside the spout. A real pain!
Recently, the handle began to split, and after a few weeks (today, as a matter of fact) it broke all the way through. I filled it one more time, but the weight of the water worked against it--the front half of the handle tore completely off, leaving a large hole and a big crack in the top; the back half of the handle fell off, too! I noticed that another reviewer reported similar splitting of the handle.
I don't feel too bad about this--it has been a good friend, and done a great job through a long season. However, I'm not inclined to want to pay thirty dollars per year for a watering can. As another reviewer commented, it is, afterall, only a watering can. For this price, I might as well hunt down a Haws, pay whatever it takes, and be done with it. I still have my old plastic Haws can that I purchased from Gardener's Supply over a dozen yers ago (it needs a spout). They last!
It is possible that Dramm's plastic did not contain UV inhibitors (easily corrected by the manufacturer during extrusion), but there was no sign of sun damage. Rather, I think the handle and they way it is attached needs to be beefed up. If I can't find a Haws can, I would buy this can again, but, as the Romans said, let the buyer beware! Dramm, and Gardener's Supply--are you listening? How about bringing back Haws?
Happy Gardening,everyone!

P.S. That big, blue French can is a terrific buy!

Comments about Long Reach Watering Can:
I intended to purchase and use this item for indoor houseplant watering in difficult to reach places; but the watering can is a bit too large for indoor watering. I'll use it outdoors for next summer as it holds a lot of water and I will be able to reach the back plants with no problem because of the long neck.

Comments about Long Reach Watering Can:
Very lightweight but extremely well-balanced when full. Easy to reach hanging baskets without watering the gardener as well as the plants.
