Every catalog company has a call center: a bank of telephone operators waiting to take your order. The call center may be located at the company's offices, but often it's outsourced to another company, and might even be located in another country. Their job is to take your order as quickly as possible, and maybe sell you some things you hadn't thought you needed.

We value a more personal approach to service. Our CCC — that's Customer Care Center, located here in Burlington, Vermont — exists to help you, whether you have a pest problem in your garden or need to find the right holiday gift for a niece or nephew. Our representatives are trained to listen carefully and to use their product and gardening knowledge to be sure you get exactly what you need.

For our staff, the CCC is also a center of gardening education, with ongoing courses in seedstarting, composting, pest control, and many other subjects. Graduates earn Garden Guru badges, which they display in their office space. That's not just a point of pride — it helps other representatives locate an expert when they need one.

Our customers really appreciate our approach, and so do our representatives — some have been with us for more than 20 years. Even our seasonal representatives — the ones we hire during our peak times — return season after season.
