The soil in a raised bed garden usually retains moisture better than it would in a regular garden, so you’ll need to water less often. There are several reasons for this. In most cases the soil in the bed has been amended with compost and other organic matter, which increases its water-holding capacity. Because plants are growing so close together, they shade the soil and reduce evaporation. To determine how much water you should apply to your raised bed, use our handy Water Calculator.
