#7 Japanese Beetle: aka "Grubby"

The Damage: For many gardeners, Japanese Beetles are Public Enemy #1. Their diet includes all your favorite ornamentals: Irises, Rododendrons, Hydrangea, and especially roses. They eat every leaf down to the skeleton. Worse, the grubs live in the ground, where they kill your lawn by feeding on roots, and they attract moles and skunks.

The Solution: It’s not easy to repel adult Japanese beetles, but you can control them with Insect Control Spray or Garden Dust. It’s also important to get rid of the grubs that live in the soil. Grub Guard and Milky Spore are natural micro-organisms that prey on Japanese Beetle grubs without affecting beneficial insects.
