I'm using the cage with a home made lid to
protect my plants while bearing fruit mainly my blue berry's will move to various plants as needed
once the plant out grow the cage I might use it for compost. I did not use the plastic clips I bought the springs and used them with some plastic ties works great.

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

There is little organic material in soils here, and scant rainfall. This easy to assemble bin (despite the impossible clips; I used wire to attach the sides)holds all the leaves that fall from a giant Ash. The plan is to compost in place and gradually improve the soil. Because the bin is light and easy to move, the location can change annually.

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

The wire is nice and solid; however, 3/4 of the snaps cracked in half when I tried to put them on the corners. And that was just using my hands, not a hammer. I'm using some sturdy velcro ties to hold the rest of the corners together, which works well.

I would have given this product a 4- or 5-star rating if it weren't for the snaps.

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

This is a great product for what I wanted -- a sturdy place to pile up leaves to add to my kitchen compost. The wire panels are well built, strong, and attractive. However, the plastic snaps that are included to piece the panels together are very flimsy. 80% of the snaps broke in half as I was fitting them into place. This was not a deal-breaker, though, because I found some green garden cable ties to use instead. They worked very well, and I now have a great, functional leaf bin.

This had better side pieces than I anticipated but the clips all broke as I tried to put the 2 bins together, only 3 clips worked for the 2 bins, I used outdoor zip ties. It works well with zip ties.

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

I use these primarily to hold the leaves I collect each fall for the following summer's use. I position them at the back of my lot between some trees so they partially hidden, but easy to get to when I need some leaves for a compost project.

I tried using them for regular composting initially and found that the spacing of the wires didn't contain the compost well enough to suit me as the compost aged.

My older ones were held together with metal stakes that slipped through loops on the ends of each panel. I think I preferred that system to the newer plastic clips

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

A friend showed me the compost bins in her garden and these really got me interested in Gardeners Supply. So I purchased a bin of my own, and intend to add more as my garden is expanding. The design I saw had metal spring fasteners which seem to work just fine. I assumed the new one would also, but PLASTIC clips for a product that sits outside? I had reservations before I even tried to put it together. Then came time for assembly and I immediately broke 6 clips in half and ended up using my own wire pieces to securely hold the bin together. Really, for $40 I expected a lot more. You may want to shop around or build your own bin.

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

Only bought 1 of these because some reviews commented on how hard it was to assemble. I have carpal tunnel in both hands and had no problem with assembly by myself ... really wish I had bought two. Did add small amount of chicken manure and alfalfa pellets to encourage decomposition. Aeration is excellent; have filled the bin to the top twice with kitchen scraps, grass clippings, leaves and wheat straw in less than 2 months and it once again is less than half full. Highly recommend!!

Comments about Single Bin Wire Composter:

I have been using this composter for more than 6 months, and it has been a sturdy unit that fits my needs well. I wanted to compost leaves in the fall, and it holds far more than I expected. I also add my plant-based kitchen waste and coffee grounds, and everything manages to stay inside the wire sides. The main problem is with the cheap plastic clips meant to assemble the four sides. Most of them broke during assembly, and those that didn't have broken on their own as it sat outside. I used zip-ties to hold the sides together, and they held it together very well.
