    • Finish rubs off
    • Wood is too soft and splits/cracks easy

      Comments about : Wallhugger VegTrug™, 18" x 72":

I received this elevated bed today and am really disappointed in the quality of the the item. Some of the parts enclosed were splintered and split. The wood is way too soft to be a long term proposal. When assembling , the wood splinters and splits. I also found that some of the parts were not cut correctly which effected the entire finished product. I bought the charcoal finish which was a mistake..it rubs off and shows all the dings from shipping. I will be surprised if it makes it through one season.

      Great for high altitude gardening

      Comments about : Wallhugger VegTrug™, 18" x 72":

I have 2 wall huggers and one full size trough with greenhouse covers. Growing vegetables at 7000 ft can challenging with temperature potential in the 30's through June. I have tomatoes, squashes, beets, peppers and herbs in the vegtrugs and put cold tolerant veggies in beds below the wall huggers.
Vegtrugs have protected the veggies and herbs hail and frost. They are a perfect solution for high altitude gardening.

          Incredibly flimsy construction.
Wood is quite soft, crushes easily.
Very thin layer of spray paint, so scratches would be readily noticeable.
          Parts only fit together approximately.

This is a very substantial box. Very sturdy and attractive. Just the right height. It's kind of difficult for one person to assemble (that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star rating).. at least with my skill set, but it was worth the effort.

I gave it 4 stars instead of five because I only just assembled it last week. It was necessary to watch the online assembly video. The written instructions were not clear enough but overall the assembly was simple and quick.
            Its sturdy and good looking.
            Measurements are as stated.
It looks like it will be exactly what i wanted which is to be like a free standing window box.
I am very happy so far.

Our two planters will create a colorful barrier against missteps from a high deck edge. Fit and finsh are not perfect; we had to do a little sawing, and some drill holes were incorrectly placed. But we are very much looking forward to elevated growing and overall feel that it would not have been cost-effective to try to build these ourselves. Fir is soft, so winter storage seems necessary.

My husband and I have had problems growing veggies in our backyard thanks to our 3 dogs who love to dig up plants. THIS is the perfect solution - our tomatoes and zucchini are doing fantastically and no animals - pets or otherwise digging them up.
