Nov-still harvesting in Salt Lake City!

By Urban Utah

from Salt Lake City, UT

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Easy assembly
  • Exceptional Protection
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Need A 4'x8' Size

Best Uses

  • Longer Yield
  • Protect Fall Crops

We have 4'x8' beds & wish they made one that size, but we simply plant in the front half of the bed. We love these covers! They are easy to assemble, affordable & very effective. Our broccoli, kale & cauliflower are still yielding & it's almost November. We're hoping to be able to continue until December & can't wait to use them this Spring to further lengthen our growing season. Please make a 4'x8' version.

This (I have 2) is the best way to start seeds outside early. I have used it for several years and honestly don't know what I did before!! I have recommended it to several people, and they also purchased it.

Cover for raised bed

By deble

from Winchester,Oh

Verified Buyer

Purchase this cover for my raised bed about 4 years ago and it was made very well. Need to purchase a replacement for the same bed and quality of material and workmanship is way below previous purchase. Zippers are not sturdy and material is not as good. No eyelets on the corners to stake to the ground rips easy. Not happy!!! I might add same price as before.

So this year I ordered a new one the the quality is not the same to put it planly it's just cheaper and the cost is the same very disappointed. I have bought many thing from gardener and love them.So many company's are using cheaper material for there products. So sad.

These are very good

By Betty the Gardener

from Petersburg, ky

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Good For Early Tomatoes

Cons

  • Frame Connectors Break

Best Uses

  • Frost protection

I have used these for several years, I just purchased 2 more this spring. The biggest problem I have encountered is the plastic frame connectors. They do not last, the heat and cold cause them to break. It would be great if someone could come up with better frame connectors.

    The Perfect Experiment

    By Gracye

    Pros

    • Design
    • Size
    • value

    Cons

    • Need Heftier Tie-downs
    • Not a Perfect Fit
    • Plastic Zippers

    Best Uses

    • Hardening Off Seedlings

Forever interested in the concept of coldframes, this year we bit the bullet and bought this as an experiment. Just put it together and installed it today. We put it inside our fenced vegetable garden so varmints can't dig under it - the bottom is totally open to the earth below.
While we are not happy with the flimsy zippers and fit (one side is tighter than the other, and when put together, the velcro does NOT pull the flap tightly and it sails in the wind), we are already in love with this product.
It is perfect for our needs, and much larger than expected. Now we have to add to our started seeds to fill it up!

Not nearly as good as the older model

    By Tim the Dirt

    from Grove City, PA

    Verified Reviewer

I previously reviewed favorably an older and MUCH better, very similar product. This new one is a mere shadow of its predecessor. It lacks zippers which the previous model had to secure the two large access flaps . . . they're secured on this new model with ill-fitting velcro tabs. This allows a lot of warm air to escape and cold air to get in, even if the flap is closed as well as possible. A strong wind shakes the velcro loose, so additional measures must be taken in order to keep things closed anywhere above 20 MPH.

Otherwise, this is a thoughtful design and an inexpensive, easy-to-erect and easy-to-store piece of gardening equipment . . . it just lacks four essential zippers.
