Additional Information

Exclusive | One Birdfeeder, Three Types of Seed

  • Attract more species by offering different types of seed
  • Outer grid lets small birds dine in peace
  • Durable and long-lasting, with metal perches and polycarbonate tubes

Offer birds a buffet and you’ll attract a wider variety of species. This feeder has three polycarbonate tubes that you can fill with different types of birdseed, and because they're clear, it's easy to see when they need refilling. An outer metal grid discourages squirrels and large "bully" birds. Six metal perches invite communal dining, and the large roof lifts off for easy filling. The hanging cord locks the roof in place, helping to keep squirrels out. Drainage holes in tray keep seed dry.

Great idea but a little too pricey!

Pros

  • Bird's Delight

Cons

  • A bit pricey

Best Uses

  • For My Deck

I like that you can have 3 different types of seed and thus encouraging different types of birds to come to the feeder. It is constructed very well and is easy to fill. I really like that it is constructed in such a way as to deter squirrels which are a big problem with my other feeders.

Almost ideal!

Really, I'd rate it 4.5 stars. The acorn on top of the lid, which clamps to the wire cable, is set by a spring. Great for holding the lid above the feeder while you add seed but not as tight as a set screw would have been. Could have been squirrel proof. Will go to hardware store and buy a small nut clamp and place above the acorn and it WILL be squirrel proof! Overall, though, nicely constructed. A small nut holds the bottom in place. When necessary, it will be quite easy to get the tubes out for a cleaning.

Locking lid does not lock well

By April

I hung this from a tree branch two weeks ago. This is a very attractive feeder. The small birds (titmouse) took a day to figure it out, and then turned into little piggies. It's too early for the medium-sized birds (robins and bluejays), so I don't know how it will work for them. The three-tube buffet is a great idea. The birds definitely preferred black sunflower seeds over the other feeds. One disadvanatage is that the space inside the cage is a little small. Only little birds can get directly inside and it's a bit of a squeeze for them. Larger birds will have to perch outside the cage.. don't know if they can figure that out.

The main problem is that the "locking" lid simply doesn't lock. You lock the lid by pushing the button on the acorn knob, which prevents the lid from sliding up the string. First off, the lid is only suspended on the string, so it rattles against the cage in the wind. Worse, the slider wears out within days, so the lid slides freely. The squirrels very quickly pushed the lid off and began feeding from the top. I chased them off, drilled two holes in the lid, and threaded wire twist-ties to hold the lid onto the cage. I'm sorry, this design is just bad. The lid needs to closed with a metal hinge and metal latch in order to keep the squirrels out.

However, once I wired the lid shut, I look forward to seeing lots of birdies come springtime. I just have to untwist the wires to refill.

Pros

  • Holds A Lot Of Bird Seed
  • Protects Small Birds

Cons

  • Squirrels Lift Top

Best Uses

  • Feed Birds Not Squirrels

Put a weight on lid to prevent squirrels from lifting it and eating most of the bird feed
Now works well. Took birds a while to feed from the new feeder.
