Additional Information

Exclusive | Topple-Proof Towers are the Sturdiest Tall Tomato Supports You Can Buy

  • Our sturdiest tomato towers are ten times stronger than common cone-shaped wire cages
  • Strong enough to support big, fruit-laden plants
  • Keep plants securely upright, even in windy locations
  • Set of 2

More than cages, these are fortresses that guard your tomato plants to prevent toppling under heavy loads and during high winds and heavy rains. In our garden tests they withstood more than ten times the horizontal pulling force compared to common cone-shaped wire cages! So when summer storms roll in, you can rest assured that your tomato plants will remain safely upright. The towers are made from heavy-duty, powder-coated, solid steel stock. You can install the legs as deep as you need (at least 8", deeper in sandy soil) and then attach the bottom ring right on the soil for extreme stability. Set the other rings at any height — lower to support shrubby plants, higher if you prune lower leaves. Each tower has three upright supports and six 18" diameter rings, creating a tower that's approx. 78" high (depending on how deeply you install the uprights). It will provide topple-proof support for your tallest indeterminate varieties.

Defective Product

My husband was unable to assemble this vegetable cage because the eyelets on the rings were too small for the vertical poles (or the vertical poles were too large for the ring eyelets). When I called Gardeners Supply, I was treated poorly. Reluctantly I was emailed a Fed Ex shipping label, but then I was charged a fee for the return. I waited five-weeks (instead of two weeks as stated when I placed the order) for a defective product for which I paid a shipping fee and a return fee, and customer service was apathetic. What a horrible experience!

      Pros

      • It's Tall

      Cons

      • Not Carefully Made
      • Small Caps Dont Fit Supor

      Best Uses

      • Indeterminate Tomatoes

The horizontal rings have small caps (tubes) welded to them. It is necessary to slide the horizontal rings down the vertical supports, but they don't always fit. If the vertical piece is too fat (too much paint or thicker steel), the cap cannot slide down. Also if the cap has a burr, it will not slide down into position. Pushing harder or tapping only breaks the weld. There's no good solution.

Only problem was that they were backordered, and my tomatoes were already 3 feet tall when the towers finally arrived.

        Good idea, poor execution.

        Pros

        • Great Size And Dimension

        Cons

        • Doesn't fold flat
        • Misleading Advertising
        • Very hard to assemble

        Best Uses

        • Do Not Disassemble
        • Great For Tomatoes

I think this is a great idea, but originally, it was billed as being collapsible for flat storage. I don't see how that could happen without complete breakdown. I won't do that after the struggle I had getting them together. I do like what they are doing for my tomatoes. Perhaps another spell at the drawing board?
