19 separate parts and a 15 step set up

By db

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

Couldn't wait to get this. Bought 3, one for me and 2 as gifts. Opened the box, saw all the loose parts and went directly to the instructions. 19 separate parts. 15 steps to the instructions. Okay - maybe I could do this once. But the cleaning instructions....DISASSEMBLE THE PRODUCT!!! Who would go thru this ridiculous assembly each time you used it! I wouldn't and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either. All 3 of them are going back!

gardens bounty

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

I use for processing tomatoes for sauce. Definitely saves time making the process easier. Wish is was a bit more sturdier of a product. Also the rubber base has a horrible odor. Maybe a different product can be used for that. I have used it and washed it several times and it still smells. Not bad for the price. Will most likely purchase a better one for nest year

Needs a tweak!

By Molly

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

Makes good sauces & seedless jams, but a little hard to figure out assembly.
However, to take the plastic cup off the metal part is very difficult. I had to get a strong man to do that! He was afraid the plastic would break, it really needs to be made of metal.
Other than that, it does the job.

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

I have a bad back and I now can make salsa and sauces all day. So easy to use. Makes canning fun again. Was originally skeptical about the plastic parts but now understand its for saving the expensive screens. So sadly disappointed that Gardeners doesn't offer it at a more reasonable price like I have found elsewhere.

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

I used the Tomato Press & Sauce Maker for the first time yesterday. I had sworn off messing with tomatoes due to the arduous task of blanching/peeling/seeding/pureeing. This product takes the misery away! All you have to do is wash the tomatoes, take the stem off, and cut them in quarters (no coring!) and the press does the rest! Can't wait to try it with fruit! I would recommend this product to anyone

    Poor Quality Construction

Comments about : Tomato Press & Sauce Maker:

Poorly manufactured. The cast base has rough, jagged edges. Where you attach different pieces or your food is supposed to run through, friction on metal. The screen is tacked together, not soldered, and requires gripping it to put this thing together, so it slices across your hand (think a 4-inch paper cut made with steel). And the plastic screw to move food through the machine rubs directly on the screen, so you include pink plastic shavings right in your sauce.

Very easy to use you just need to slice tomatoe once put in press and turn the handle. It takes all the seeds and skin away for you. It really is a time and prep saver. This is the only way to make homemade sauce.
