Super-Sturdy Tomato Cages Support Heavy Yields

  • Extra-strong tomato cages keep tomato plants upright for a bigger, cleaner harvest
  • Big, 8" square openings make harvesting easy
  • Hinged panels fold flat for compact storage

Longtime customer favorites, our heavy-duty, powder-coated steel tomato cages are taller, wider and stronger than old-fashioned cone-shaped supports. And unlike flimsier versions, these are strong enough to support full-grown vines loaded with tomatoes. The tomato cages support plants on all sides (no tying needed) and keep plants up off the ground for better air circulation, cleaner fruit and fewer diseases. Large openings make harvesting easy, and the cages fold flat for off-season storage. In windy locations, we recommend anchoring with our Extra-Tall Earth Staples, sold separately.

  • Powder-coated steel
  • 14-3/8" square x 39" H including 7" legs; 32" H installed
  • 8" square openings
  • 10 gauge wire
  • Cages fold for easy off-season storage
  • Gardener's Supply Exclusive

Excellent Cages

Pros

  • Well designed and sturdy

After numerous trips to lawn and garden centers where I balked at the prices for "standard" tomato cages which in my experience do not hold up a tomato plant once the tomatoes get big, I bit the bullet and decided to make an investment in sturdy long lasting plant supports. The cost is sobering but once they arrived I decided I had made a good choice in these as they are VERY sturdy, fit next to each other in a row in the garden without gaps, and my neighbors, also with back yard gardens, all wanted to know where I got them. They look good, fold up flat for storage but most importantly, are actually doing the job. I do not yet have heavy fruit but when I do these are not going to collapse under the weight. Very pleased! And by next year I will have forgotten the price :)

Growing lots of tomatoes to can, you have go to have a plan. My plan is to keep weeds down, make sure the plants get water and keep tomatoes from getting eaten by predators.
These tomato stakes are strong and look great

I have used these cages for at least five years and they are still in service, which prompted me to buy more.

I use them for cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes. they do an excellent job of providing support for both in ground plants and for containerized plants.

I generally stack two to make a single tall cage. If the cage is for in ground plants, I stack them so the stakes are exposed. For containerized plants I stach them so both ends are smooth.

I use a five foot metal fence post available at most hardware stores to hold the cages upright and secure against the load they bear.

They are very durable and the oly drawback I have observed is that care must be exercized to avoid the ends sticking through the hinge areas when reaching inside the cage.

Good quality and sturdy, only reason for low star rating was they arrived bent, all four pieces, don't know if they shipped that way or were damaged in shipping.

I purchased two sets of four cages several years ago. They held up so well year after year, that when it came time to replace the last flimsy cages from our local big box garden center, I decided to invest in another set of four. They cost a bit more, but I know they'll pay for themselves within a couple of years. The original eight are still as sturdy as the new ones.

I ordered the bean tower and vegetable seeds. The tower arrived very poorly packed, so much so that I was concerned parts would be missing and the Post Office thought the package had been damaged. The main pole was, quite literally, hanging out the bottom of the cardboard completely unprotected. The vegetable seeds were not included in the shipment and took two an additional two weeks to arrive. The tracking number on that shipment was incorrect so I was unable to track it. By the time they did arrive I had given up and purchased seeds elsewhere. While the product was good, I don't know that I would order again based on this experience.
