    Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

I just put these together, so I don't have data on how they compost. However, the CLIPS are the only real problem. I thought I'd put them in on one side, then add the second side to it. Nope—you need that second side there to keep the clip open so it clicks on. (Don't nudge things with a hammer! The clips break easily.) Also, some of the clips didn't like to be locked in position, and broke during that process. FORGET about trying to clip the center section in when you have the two outer boxes done! There's no room to put the clips around just two pieces. The third keeps getting in the way. SOLUTION: I had some coated wire (for securing plants to supports), and just twisted that on. Worked great! Matches the bins! I think I'll be taking one side of clips on each of the outer boxes off and substituting the wire for that, so I can just untwist and open the bins to get to the compost. Don't know why this didn't come with some kind of hinge clip to make a door for each bin. I'll also have to buy some lengths of perforated drain to put in the center of each bin, since there's no air space between them and I don't want anaerobic (sp?) composting. Other than that, they look great and seem like they'll do VERY well! Not too expensive either.

      Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

We are very pleased with the three bin composter with the exception of one thing. The clips simply are not usable. After breaking the first 5 while attempting to put it together, we simply gave up and went to Lowe's and got some plastic cable ties. They work fine and when you cut off the ends you don't even see them. The biggest problem is that I underestimated how many leaves we have and we could use 3 more. Maybe next year. :)

The bin sides appear to be excellent and as described. But the connectors are a joke. They break! Out of abut 10 that I attempted to use, 7 broke; and then I gave up and used wire (which worked fine.)

            Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

I really loved this product when i bought it a few years. The latest ones were a disappointment because the sturdy spiral connectors were replaced with cheap plasitc connectors that break when you try to put them on the bins. I ended up using string to hold my bins together.

            Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

The plastic clips used for holding the sections together are poorly designed. They snap easily and should be replaced with better clips. The V shape in the clip is cut too deep into the plastic and represents a weak point. The old spring connectors were better. Zip ties would be better than the system supplied. Gardener's Supply did send more of the same poorly designed clips. If you buy this item, don't plan to use the plastic clips!

            Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

This was hard to put together. I have broken nails and bleeding thumbs. The cheap plastic clips broke and while I could get the two squares together no amount of trying got the two middle panels attached. I ended up using bread ties and wire ties temporarily until I get some wire to wire it together. There is nothing to anchor it to the ground. I am going to look at the item again and see if I missed that, but I bought this when it was on sale this summer. Don't know how good it is going to be, just getting started with it. I will have to wait to see if I would recommend this item to anyone, or like I was thinking buying another one.

                  Comments about 3-Bin Wire Composter:

As many others have commented here, the clips that came with the wire bins are cheap, brittle, and break easily. As we set up the bins, so many clips broke that we resorted to using wire of our own to assemble and attach bins together.

Several years ago I ordered a single bin (still in use!) and it came with metal "corkscrew" fasteners that are much better than the clips. I wish the three-bin set had come with these, as well.

Overall I do like the set-up the bins provide; a way to contain leaves and other yard waste (stems etc.) which before was hindering composting of kitchen and other waste which breaks down more quickly.
