Additional Information

Exclusive | Italian Trough Planter Creates a Lush Terrace Garden

  • Generous Capacity: You'll get extra soil capacity and deep reservoirs not found in their American counterparts. Trough Planter holds 130 quarts of soil and 4 gallons of water.
  • Unmatched Quality: Rigid construction fends off scuffs and scratches, and they won't fade or bow in the strongest sun or under the heaviest load.
  • Self-Watering: Water only once a week, thanks to a dual-action system that uses cotton wick and evaporation
  • Timeless Design: Crisp lines and realistic wood grain, plus a choice of two classic finials, make for a sharp, uniform appearance around your property
  • We recommend seven 20-quart bags of our premium Organic Self-Watering Potting Mix; each of these planters holds 130 quarts

Our exclusive Italian Terrazza planters offer classic styling with self-watering convenience. In Italy, where style is everything, these innovative planters beautify residential terraces, side-street cafes, hotel lobbies and public courtyards. This large-capacity Terrazza Trough Planter is often the centerpiece. Make the planter mobile with optional casters, sold separately (each planter requires two sets).

Comments about : Terrazza Trough Planter, White:

We got the planted in black. I was pleased to find that both style of finials came with the planter, so I could choose which one I liked better and use that one. The assembly was HARD! I had to pound on the pieces, even stand on them and jump to get them to go together. But this is made from a very hard plastic, so nothing I did damaged the planter in any way. After about an hour of fighting with it, I finally had it assembled and it's been working very well for about a month now. I'm very happy with the size, the amount of soil it holds, and the amount of water it holds. Note: if you overwater or overfill the reservoir, the excess just flows out. If you don't want that to happen, watch the amount of water carefully. The reservoir is not waterproof/sealed in any way.

Comments about : Terrazza Trough Planter, White:

I have had my planters (2) for about 5 years. I have planted squash, zucchini, peppers, flowers , potatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and okra in them. I have had good success. I moved them to the front porch from the patio to control the watering. One year we got a lot of rain and my cucumbers got too much water! I have to replace the watering tube in them every year or so. It gets brittle and breaks. They are durable otherwise. I leave them outside all year long. We get cold weather, but not constant frigid cold in the winter.

I have three of these, having purchased one each of the past 3 years. They are all on a sunny deck and I can't tell the difference between the oldest one and the newest as far as color (mine are brown). I have left them out over the winters. Easy to put together, and keeps plants happy if we are away for a few days as long as we water just before leaving. I have not found the water indicator to be useful as my finger in the soil works just as well to check watering needs!

We bought these several years ago for our co-op roof deck, where they get full sun all year round. They show almost no signs of aging and we get compliments on them very often. I just bought some more for a new area, and we expect them to hold up just as well.

I bought a trough planter several years ago then later bought the extension to grow blueberries here in Florida. Now, the plastic around the top edge is breaking off in chunks. The white has turned mottled gray...very unattractive. Afraid of painting or moving it due to being so fragile. All in all, it was nice for about 3 years but the sun started taking it's toll. Can't recommend considering it's price and short longivity even though it functioned as advertised.

Nice planter but the self waterer could be improved. The line to the waterer pulls up easily with kids! Needs to be a little bit sturdier.

So far, so good. It is still early in the season here in Ohio, so with cheap 16" x 12" glass panels ($10 total) and duct tape (to cover the edges), I have converted it into an improvised cold frame to start my tomato plants from seed.

It will be a few months before I can check the utility of the self watering feature.
